Join Daniel Bayley, a senior research fellow at University College London, for an enlightening online lecture on the fascinating world of photogrammetry applied to underwater environments. With a specific focus on coral reefs, Daniel will showcase real-world examples of how this innovative technology can digitally recreate these ecosystems in 3D and track changes over time. The talk will be presented at an introductory level, making it accessible to all participants. Following the presentation, there will be an interactive session where attendees can create their own 3D models using phone-based software. This hands-on experience will provide a deeper understanding of the capabilities of photogrammetry. Participants are required to download the free app, Polycam, onto their smartphones prior to the session. Additionally, please bring an object that you would like to digitize, ensuring it does not contain white, transparent, or reflective surfaces.
