Join local writer and editor, Sara Jafari, as she hosts an exciting and laid-back event called "Your Next Read with Ashani Lewis, Oisín McKenna, and Sarah Marsh." This event, part of the Deptford Literature Festival, aims to introduce you to the emerging talents of Ashani Lewis, Oisín McKenna, and Sarah Marsh, and delve into their journey to becoming published authors. Ashani Lewis, a London-based novelist and short-story writer, recently released her debut novel "Winter Animals" with Dialogue Books. This dark and captivating story explores the dangers of youthful idealism and the blurred lines between friendship and love in the mountains of North America. Ashani's writing has garnered recognition, winning awards such as the Tower Poetry Prize and the Alpine Fellowship Writing Competition. Her work has been featured in prestigious publications like Harper's Bazaar and Joyland. She is currently working on her second novel, set to be published in 2025. Oisín McKenna, an award-winning writer and artist, dabbles in theatre, video, and fiction. His debut novel, "Evenings and Weekends," will be published by Fourth Estate (UK) and Mariner Books (US) in 2024. Oisín explores the impact of political, economic, and social circumstances on our thoughts, actions, and emotions. Sarah Marsh, a Lucy Cavendish Prize finalist, presents her first novel "A Sign of Her Own." Inspired by her personal experiences growing up deaf and her family's deaf history, Sarah offers a unique perspective. She currently resides in London. This event will take place at the Deptford Lounge - Studio in London on March 16, 2024. Admission is free, but limited spaces are available.
