FFenmaoshiguanjunI had a very satisfying stay. On my journey from York to Edinburgh, I made a point of stopping for a night in Durham to experience the romance and elegance of a traditional English small town. This Hotel Indigo is converted from a historic local school, so from the facade to the corridors and even the rooms, the original style is beautifully preserved. The room was quite spacious and well-equipped, and the staff were all very warm and attentive. The breakfast was also excellent, a mix of buffet and à la carte. Overall, I was very happy. It would have been even better if the air conditioning in the room could have provided a bit more heat. I imagine we'll return to this charming town in a few years – looking forward to our next visit!
Ccynthia goThe room was spacious and comfy beds. It comes with free breakfast, which is good. Breakfast was alright, the same food every morning. The only thing that lets us down is one of the staff in the restaurant. We sat there for ages waiting to be served. Because he won't be serving us not until 8pm. So we've waited patiently, because we have just arrived that night and was very hungry. This man was serving other people, but not us. So my husband and I were wondering what's going on. So my husband went to the till and queued up. But when it's my husband's turn, he asked, ”Who's next?? Obviously, my husband was in front of him. Then, when my husband asked if we could order now, he looked at him and me and saying ”Oh, just wait to your table, and I will get your order from there. . Maybe because I am the only Asian there. I feel like there's a bit of ****** to be honest. We went back to our table and waited to be served again. But he didn't turn up and served the next table beside and served some other customer who came after us. I was so mad and upset. But I don't want cause a scene. So we we just went out and looked for another restaurant outside the hotel. We're so disappointed, and we didn't expect to be treated like that. The receptionist was very nice and helpful. I just forgot his name. But the one at the restaurant is not nice at all. He ruined our family holiday. We won't be coming back anymore there.
MMarvinAt 4 PM, during peak check-in time, I wasn't allowed priority for luggage retrieval. I was told to queue with everyone checking in, and the staff's attitude was extremely arrogant, making me feel discriminated against! My Uber was five minutes away, and I had a 4:40 PM train to London; waiting in line for luggage would definitely make me miss it! I waited for the front desk to finish with their current guest and then tried to explain my situation. However, the front desk disregarded the circumstances and insisted I queue up. I don't know if this lack of understanding is part of British culture; if so, I apologize (I hadn't considered 4 PM as peak check-in). If not, the hotel should apologize to me! In the end, even the British people queuing for check-in couldn't stand it. After consulting with a few people behind them, they let me cut in line. Retrieving my luggage took only about 30 seconds. Thankfully, I made my train, phew.
GGuest UserRoom old and outdated - hotel needs refurbished in older areas - new spirts bar disappointing expensive and not that clean - nenus dirty with fingerprints and sticky - considering brand new they beed higher standards tho mains in Fusion were good but prawn crackers at £5.95 were awful
GGuest UserThe hotel has a very good location, which is definitely a plus and makes it convenient for exploring the area.
However, we were disappointed by a few additional charges. Bathrobes are provided only for an extra £8, and the hotel parking is also paid, which was not very convenient and added unexpected costs to the stay.
GGuest UserVery clean and modern hotel just a short walk from Stockton High Street (incidentally, only 16 minutes walk from Thornaby rail station which is the better option than Stockton station itself - ironic that the town that gave us the railways has a mostly abandoned rail station!)
Reception staff were friendly and efficient allowing me to check in early to get to the Stockton Calling festival.
Buffet style breakfast didn't disappoint either! Will definitely be returning!
AAnonymous UserAttended a birthday celebration. Staff went above and beyond.
In addition, it is a lovely venue in beautiful location and surroundings. 30 minute walk into a lively town or a 5 minute car trip.
Would highly recommend it for a romantic getaway or meet up with family/friends.
Staff were amazing.
GGuest UserGorgeous hotel in a good location for exploring the surrounding area. Delicious cooked to order breakfast and the restaurant for dinner was superb. Room was comfy and warm would happily stay again
GGuest UserLocation was perfect for our needs, near to beautiful Yarm! The amenities were good and a dip in the pool was perfect after a hot day! Overall cleanliness was good, just needed a few touch up here and there, tiles missing in spa area a
Nd our bathroom looked tired! Disappointed that there was no compensation for broken key card machine and we found this unnerving as it felt very ‘big brother’ being tracked on our every move! A drink at dinner, complimentary breakfasts or bar meal would have been a nice gesture!
