Maun Lodge

We stayed in a permanent tent for 3-nights over Christmas. On arrival, nobody on site were aware of our booking and our “tent” was not ready as booked. The linen was clean and comfortable but the rest of the tent was a disaster. It felt like a storage room with too many tables, a barely working, flimsy bedside table and no main light (it was not working). Open electrical cords, very dusty and dirty and worn down. The property is set in an ideal location, with beautiful views of the Boteti River but the facilities are not well looked after and extremely dirty. The manager on duty, Heinrich, was more interested in entertaining his visiting friends and family than attending to guests. They basically “took over” the jeti with their unattended fishing gear, and their dogs were barking at guests and swimming in the pool, leaving it quite dirty especially because no one was cleaning. There was almost no one to serve us at the bar/restaurant but both the manager and his wife (and another lady) helped themselves with drinks and all the ice in the machine during our stay - taking it over to their “house” for their own consumption which I guess is fine as long as your guests are looked after. The breakfast was ok but they only served instant coffee… When paying EUR60pp/pn you would hope for better service and neat, tidy and clean facilities.

I had a pleasant peaceful stay. My room was clean and I had no complaints. The Rileys hotel is accessible to any place in Maun such as shops, businesses and transportation, I will recommend it to any one interested in a work or leisure travel
Mokoro Lodge

Stayed 2 nights and both nights the complex was full of what appeared to be construction industry chaps who partied until the wee hours so a bit noisy despite being away from entrance. That said I would say again, room was good, had a safe and spacious. Bathroom was missing a glass panel so a shower curtain was in place. Food at the bar for lunch was ok and the bar itself is reasonably priced.
