Twin Peaks Lakeside Inn

There are some car hotels, right next to Lake Taupo, the scenery does not say, the car stops at the door of the room, very convenient, very suitable for self-driving travel. The rooms are compact but well-equipped, cooking and bathing are not a problem. It is very close to the supermarket and the place to eat, and there are two or three intersections by car. The New Zealand big sister at the front desk was very enthusiastic and stayed with milk.
Pedlars Motel

A motel I have given 5 stars. Never done that before! Brand spanking new and being maintained at that level. Situated in middle of town by Rail Trail and swiming pool. Excellent parking inside with ovrrflow parking free on the upper confetence car park. Specialised equipped laundry has power points for charging ebikes, locked overnight and wuthin owners accomodation for extra security. Rooms are small but equiped to 5 star with high end appluances, biscuits, full powder drink range chocolate to green tea. Similarly in house catering is yummy. I rave about this accomodation as the owner has made no short cuts to luxury.
Quality Inn Acapulco Taupo

This hotel is very quiet, not far from Lake Taupo. The entrance to the yard is a large lawn. There is a road but not the main road. The surrounding environment is very good. There is a big supermarket within 5 minutes of driving. You can buy some ingredients to cook your own food. There are kitchen pots and pans, a double bed and single bed, suitable for family outings! Parking stops at the door of the room where you live! I will stay here now, and the price is right!
FatOwl Motel, Bar & Eatery

Patrick couldn’t do enough for us. Superb rooms. Large, great bedding, towels and toiletries. Good heating and amazing decor. Pub next door serves excellent food and staff were all incredible. We were cycling 120km over the weekend and Patrick was full of tips and even offered to help if we got injured or stuck. We left our cars there and they were very accommodating. On return we booked a room to shower before heading back to Auckland and be put 10 towels and soap in the room for us. Also complimentary continental breakfast and lounge room. Microwave, toaster, cereal and milk. Thanks Patrick and your wife. Your service, food, motel was top notch.
Palm Motel Waihi
4/528 Reviews
Great location in Waihi, handy to everything. Parking onsite outside of unit. Unit was very clean and well arranged. Never stayed anywhere that provided as many power outlets. Normally have to search for them to charge phones etc, but they had plenty. Owners are lovely and friendly. We didnt use the pool as we didnt have time really. Unit has a microwave which is convenient and was spacious for 3 of us. Would stay again. The one downside was the traffic noise with being so close to the highway.

Absolutely one of the best in hospitality, Service, spacious and beautiful rooms. So caring and thoughtful whilst our stay as our Mum was in Waikato Hospital. They really went above and beyond, can't really thank them enough. Maree and Grant are superb hosts and we would refer them to anyone 😊 Thank you for Everything!!! Simon Bel and Boys
The Village Resort
4.4/582 Reviews
Was travelling in New Zealand when I was forced to isolate and this location after contracting Covid (it's still out there folks!). Francis & Grant the managers ... in fact the entire team ... took my predicament in their stride, were sympathetic and helpful. My apartment was spacious and confortable with everything I need for the isolation period. Lovely location on the front at Taupo although it's still a fair walk to the centre (there is a pub / restaurant next door that alas I could not try!). Nice looking pool and Spa. I recommend going for a first floor apartment if you can so that your views are not obscured by parked cars, though be prepared to carry cases etc steps. Grounds well-kept with a nice area for a bbq. Very impressed - would not hesitate to stay again!
Beechtree Motel

We spent one night here. Room was large, clean and adequate for our needs. The design of the room / bath is a bit different..might say contemporary. It was quiet. Parking is limited near rooms but plenty of spaces in back of one building. There was a small kitchenette with refrigerator, coffee/tea fixings and toaster, dishes, etc., large jacuzzi tub (didn’t use) and separate shower. Our room didn’t have extra toilet tissue, the roll on the holder was a bit 1/3 full, which is fine, but needed an extra. No breakfast available, but you can make your own if you have items. We made toast and coffee in our unit.

Podium Lodge
4.6/567 Reviews
We booked into Podium Lodge initially for two nights, We had a large family group of 3 x couples, a pet dog & parents in a campervan. Unfortunately one of our group was admitted to Hamilton hospital unexepectedly before we had even booked in. The staff went out of their way to help us & regularly checked in with us for updates on how our family member was doing. They kept the rooms pencilled in for us - ensuring that we didn't have to change rooms at any stage & in one case charged us at a lower rate than what they could have. They even left flowers & mandarins in our rooms - ontop of this the actual accommodation was fantastic with lovely clean, quiet rooms & very comfortable beds. All the staff were exceptional to deal with - even down to the cleaners who were awesome & took a personal interest in our welfare. We would all highly recommend the Podium Lodge as the only place to stay in Cambridge.
