We stayed at The Cheshire Welcome Inn while visiting family over July 4th. It is 10 minutes from my son's house and their guest room was filled. This is the old style motel where each room has an outside door. The owner gave me a discounted rate since I booked directly. They let us check in early and the room was a pleasant surprise. It was very clean, recently updated with a large king bed, bedside tables and overhead lighting on both sides of the bed, a desk with a chair, a nice tv and a large fridge with a separate freezer, a microwave and a coffee pot. The flooring was new and attractive, no carpeting. The bathroom was spacious with plenty of room for toiletries and a large shower that even had a retractable clothesline. The grounds were beautifully landscaped and maintained. There was an ice machine, vending machine, and washer and dryer down the hall. I get up early and put a lawn chair outside the door so I can read while my partner sleeps in. When we came back later they had put two plastic chairs out for us to use. The owners were very pleasant and present. Our only complaint was that we are short and all the comfortable bedding made the bed high. Even though it was right on Route 10 the road noise did not bother us. It is convenient to Big Y, Dunkin Donuts, and many other stores. We had a delicious breakfast at Peter's II that was a five minute walk away. We will stay there again when we visit our family.
