I had nothing but problems with this hotel. I was only staying there for work and my job was paying for it. The first time I stayed there about a month ago, they told me they needed my credit card to hold a deposit. I was then charged for the room instead of a pending hold. I’m still going back and forth with their accounting department to try to get that charge taken off. When I stayed there the first time, they were also supposed to have a meeting room set up for me the next day. When I went to the front desk they had no idea what I needed. I showed them the contract my boss sent me and they took 30 minutes to scramble up a room last minute. I had to start my meeting late because of the hotel forgetting to set up the room. The second time I stayed, last night, when I go to check in they tell me there is no card on file and I have to pay for the room! I told them that’s incorrect and called my boss. The woman at the front desk called her boss too and told me it was settled but I needed to put my card down for the deposit. I told her last time they charged me for the room, she promised me that would not happen again. Now today, I check my statements and I have a pending charge for $100, the deposit, and a random $35 charge that I have NO idea what for! I’ll call tomorrow to try to get it settled but I just can’t believe the issues I’ve had with this hotel. I travel a LOT with this company and have NEVER had issues like this before!

Stayed for one night when I was transferred. The hotel has an airport shuttle bus. You need to call the front desk to pick up the phone and wait at the bus pick-up dock. The room was clean and the breakfast was good. As a transit hotel, the price is OK.

The hotel has parking lot, there is free airport pick-up and drop-off. It takes about 15 minutes by car from the airport. Note that the bus stop is not at the entrance of the airport arrival hall. You need to go upstairs and walk through the bridge-like passage to the shuttle bus opposite the road. I am playing in advance. Call the hotel to pick up the airport pick-up service, you can book the next day at the hotel reception desk, the car is 20 minutes later than the agreed time, it is recommended to make a reservation a little earlier. The hotel has a complimentary breakfast and ends at 9 o'clock. Overall, transit accommodation at Detroit Airport is cost effective.

I confuse the name of the reservation but refuse to admit it. It seems that I don’t want to receive the guests. Let us three people stand up. For half an hour, fortunately, I contacted Ctrip in time to give another room. On July 14 I flew to Detroit to attend a funeral on the 15th. I carefully researched airport hotels. The one I wanted was The Westin but couldn’t justify $340 for 11 hours. So I chose the next best thing, Embassy Suites, still expensive at $200 but I prefer to be clean and comfortable in hotels. Embassy Suites has always fit the bill in the past. When I walked into Room 217 my heart sank. It did not have that clean feel I was used to and had a moldy odor with old worn out furniture. I took photos to prove all of my anxieties. The curtains were old, thin, shabby and torn. The sofa was torn in several places. The table had dried food on it. The beds looked like children had made them up and the pillows were small squares like the size of medium throw pillows. The bed spreads were worn out and thin. There were stains on the pillow cases and make upon one. The towels were shredding. The toilet was so small your knees were up in front of you. I was appalled and disheartened. But, like a big girl, I sucked it up and did my best to make the room to,enable by spraying it with sanitizer and perfume and covering areas with towels. I carry a travel sheet for those…’Just-in-case’ moments which I never thought would happen at an ES hotel. I put my sheet over the sheet and pillow case and tried to be a good soldier. I began to nod and opened my eyes and saw something moving. Startled, I jumped out of the bed and grabbed a tissue to see what this was. I hate bugs of any kind but at this point of desperation, the bar was so low, all I could hope for was that it was a filthy disgusting roach and NOT A BEDBUG‼️ I put the insect in the water glass with a little water and took a picture. When I enlarged the picture I was beyond upset and completely baffled…IT WAS A TEXTBOOK BEDBUG!!! I googled images of bedbugs to see if this really was a bedbug and…it really was a bedbug…smh. I called downstairs and told the desk clerk, Diamond, there was a bedbug in my be along with all the other cosmetic problems, she replied “I can assure you it is not a bedbug cuz we get checked for them every two weeks. I decided to take it down to the manager but that person was gone. I showed Diamond the photos of the condition of my room and she was disconnected. She explained the furniture is not their fault because Covid prevented them from remodeling. Ok, regardless of the reason, the facts were the facts. She didn’t need to prove anything just lend an ear of understanding how I was feeling about paying $200 for 11 hours. It seemed Diamonds customer service skills needed honing. Diamonds words of understanding and compassion were “Would you like to check out?” I kid you not. I was not trying to get a refund, I saved $10 by using Priceline instead of Hiltons site so, no, I’m just letting you know what’s happening…period. I told her I’d love to if she was going to pay for it! Of course not. When she first saw the bedbug she tried to tell me that was not a bedbug but when I

Staff was very friendly and accommodating. I arrived mid-morning after getting next to no sleep on the plane the night before. They comped me a late breakfast and allowed me early check-in, where they put me in a corner room on the top floor - away from everything so I could get a nap. I had dinner there both nights at the bar. The bar wasn’t much - certainly not fancy, but the staff was delightful and friendly. I’m not what you’d call a “foodie,” but the meals were quite tasty and ample. The room was clean and appeared new. The price was very reasonable. I would definitely recommend this hotel!!!

The environment and service are good. It was when I called the shuttle at the airport, because the language was not available, the front desk was a bit impatient, and everything else was very good. Location, environment, breakfast are good. 24 hours hot water in the lobby, coffee, drinks, and fruit. Bring breakfast. There is a luggage cart. Check out will ask if you need a free shuttle bus. Overall, the price is high near the airport. There are restaurants such as McDonald's nearby.

Holiday Inn Express Romulus / Detroit Airport

We stayed overnight on January, 6/23 in Room 203 at the Holiday Inn Express- Detroit Metro Airport 7680 Merriman Road Romulus, MI 48174 Upon entering our room we noticed a soiled cleaning cloth on the floor in the bathroom. We also noticed the sink did not drain properly, there were no glasses for water and the TV and Remote did not work properly. The remote did not control the TV and the TV audio and video kept pausing repeatedly making it impossible to watch anything. We called down to the front desk, but the girl was busy with check-ins, and said she would come up later. She did not come up but we assumed she had either just been too busy or forgotten, which is understandable. The USB ports to charge our phones underneath the TV did not work as they were too loose and the cords kept falling out. I also was never asked if I was an IHG Member upon check-in or check-out, and received no points for my stay. This is just a personal preference, but one other thing we didn’t care for were the toiletries not being individual samples as it seems unsanitary because of COVID. I reached out to IHG on Twitter on January 7 and received a response right away. They reached out to the Hotel Manager to investigate and said I would hear from her. I received an email from the Hotel Manager January 10 stating she knew nothing about my concerns, so I forwarded her a list of issues we experienced. Finally, on Monday, January 16 after receiving no response from the Manager, I called the Hotel and asked for the Manger, who maintains she did not receive my email, which was a direct reply to hers. She offered me 8000 points, which I did not receive. This Hotel stay was the first night of our 2 week vacation. The first since COVID. I am not impressed by the apparent disregard for patrons by the Hotel Management. January 18, twelve days after our stay, and there was still no resolution, which is completely unacceptable Customer Service. No one should have had to deal with this while vacationing. Just to follow up, IHG Twitter added 10,000 points to my account, and I received 1,468 points for the stay. It appears 5,000 points were added as well, from the Hotel Management? Unsure? I do not enjoy leaving a bad review but also do not appreciate having concerns/issues seemingly dismissed as unimportant, and for that reason alone we WILL NOT be staying in this location again. P.S. I was unable to upload any pictures as the site will not work.

I only spent 1 night here, and I was kinda prepping for a typical sort of crappy motel. Is it a luxury hotel? No, no one is gonna confuse it for that. But the room was comfortable, the wifi worked, the shower was fine, AC worked well and maybe most importantly for an airport hotel, the price was reasonable and there was a shuttle available. I really couldn't have asked for anything more in an airport hotel, frankly every major city should have this as an option and sadly that's just not the case, far too often you're in over $100 for the same room or worse. Of note, I clicked ”yes” an outdoor pool is available, but in reality their pool is totally out of commission. Didn't bother me, and in the upcoming months it won't matter, but if you wanted to take a dip, you can't.

Have stayed there for many years, using Park n Fly mostly. The Hotel is bare bones but beds are comfortable and the parking and airport transportation is the perk. Unfortunately we’ve booked another location for our next trip as this Hotel isn’t what it used to be. It’s “ just “ ok for a sleep and go. Staff ok, but not very visible and welcoming. We travelled with friends in October and they weren’t impressed , travelled in March with 10 family members and same. The rooms for families of 4 need at least 2 doubles or queen beds as the “ pullouts” make it very difficult to navigate the room due to angled walls. One family was ok with the 2 queens booked but the other didn’t like the pullout because of the lack of space. We called to change the room and were told “none available “ BUT they were for sale on their site. Although breakfast is included it’s not available for you if you fly early, not even juice or water. Note, there are a few options for food within walking distance and if you drive you can get supplies for breakfast needs etc at Krogers and various stores.

We had a brief stay here, overnight before a morning flight. Our family of 4 (including 2 teen boys, 17 and 19) got a suite with 2 queens and a pull out couch. My older son slept on the couch not pulled out and was comfortable. The queen beds were also comfortable. The room was very clean. Shower and toilet areas are separate…feel like closets, but we had no issue with that. Staff we encountered (front desk) were friendly and helpful…shuttle was easily scheduled. Shuttle was a bit late (10 minutes) in the morning but we had allowed for plenty of time to get to the airport so it was not a problem. The driver was very friendly and helpful, and we understood, as everyone is short staffed these days…he was likely pulling double duty. Front desk staff was in communication with him as well, so we knew he was on his way and were not stressed. Breakfast was adequate. Pre-packaged egg cup was surprisingly decent. I had that with some warm oatmeal and was set for the morning. We did not have time to use the pool or exercise room but they were available. We had a very smooth, quiet, brief stay and would stay here again. It served our needs well.

NOTE: I have previously incorrectly posted this review referencing Holiday Inn Express Romulus/Detroit Airport, an IHG Hotel. And, I apologize to Holiday Inn Express. Therefore, I am resubmitting this review for the intended establishment: HOLIDAY INN DETROIT METRO. AIRPORT SHUTTLE EXPERIENCE: Several guests including myself arrived the same time via hotel airport shuttle. Shuttle driver was very polite, courteous and respectful. However, upon arrival at hotel, no one (staff) was present at the front desk and/or lobby area. We waited for approximately 10 minutes before a staff appeared from back office. With a very solemn/cold facial demeanor we were individually checked in. No welcoming remarks, etc. It was an overnight stay for me since I was connecting flight to Japan the following day - London/Detroit/Japan intinerary. RESTAURANT - FOOD SERVICE & FRONT DESK EXPERIENCE (Morning of following day) Basic western breakfast (limited selections). Restaurant staff was rather abrupt and rude by advising me that I must pay her a “gratuity” fee since my breakfast was complimentary (As an option, IHG Diamond status guests receives complimentary breakfast). I was rather uncomfortable with this encounter. I immediately brought this issue to the front desk staff about the gratuity issue. Unfortunately, she bluntly told me that it was “NOT HER CONCERN” and that any gratuity issue/concern was with the restaurant and not the hotel’s. From my observation/assessment of her demeanor, tone of voice and body language, she basically conveyed an “I DON’T CARE” indifferent attitude. As an IHG Diamond status customer, I expected a higher quality of customer service experience based on the highly commendable reviews posted in the IHG Review website. Unfortunately, it was an extremely “SUB-STANDARD” experience to me. Personally, I ABSOLUTELY DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS HOTEL even for an overnight stopover. The treatment I have received was so degrading/humiliating compared to the highly commendable excellent customer service experience I have received from other IHG hotel establishments. Overall, I have perceived that the staff I have interacted with were extremely INDIFFERENT and very deficient in providing proper customer service. Further, it was also unfortunate that my candid review (similar to this review) was never posted by IHG after my submittal within a timely manner.

It was convenient and close to my job as well. It was nice also has a nice swimming pool and even though I didn't get a chance to swim on the hot days, I loved the grounds and the scenery! So relaxing! The free breakfast was also nice with waffles, eggs and sausage.

I arrived late after flying into Detroit. After waiting 25 minutes for a shuttle, I took a taxi to the hotel. The bar and kitchen had just closed. No drinks were available in the small market off the lobby. My room was mostly clean. Both my room and public spaces in the hotel were (somewhat recently) renovated to one of the newer Sheraton design themes. The renovation was done cheaply. Basically, the bare minimum required to keep the Sheraton franchise. Some new wallpaper, carpets, and some new furniture. The decor they chose is ugly. Hideous shades of brown and taupe. My room still had an ancient iHome alarm clock/radio that hasn't worked for years as it's no longer compatible with new iPhone models. Some of the case goods in the room look unchanged from before the renovation. That side, the renovation is already starting to show its age. Some furniture was already scratched and showing wear-and-tear, carpet in the hallways had extensive stains, walls and door frames were scuffed, etc. It's sad to see such poor maintenance on a relatively new product. None of the usual Sheraton amenities were provided in the room. No vanity kit, mouthwash, slippers or a robe. No bottles of water. All I received was one bar of soap; big dispensers of soap, shampoo, conditioner, lotion and body wash; a note pad; and one pen. Also, the dispensers were NOT tamper-proof. So, you probably want to bring your own shampoo, etc. Absolutely zero Bonvoy elite status recognition, unless you asked for something like a late check-out. Breakfast in the lobby bar/restaurant was off a limited menu. My eggs were actually quite good. The orange juice was sugary and tasted watered down. My coffee was refilled once -- that's it. No newspapers in the lobby or club lounge. All things considered, the Sheraton is an old 1970s or 1980s airport hotel that was probably one of the few full-service hotels at the airport back when it was built. Now, there are quite a few other hotels nearby, including the excellent Westin inside the airport terminal itself. If you can afford the rates at the Westin, there's no reason to stay at the Sheraton.
