The hotel is located on W 34th Street, right on bustling 8th Avenue in Midtown Manhattan. It offers pretty good value for money. The surrounding area is extremely lively, teeming with all sorts of New York City elements: diverse people, various smells (urine, sweat, perfume, and one particularly nauseating odor I can't quite pinpoint), and constant siren wails. Surprisingly, it gets relatively quiet at night. Funnily enough, overnight, by morning, the streets become surprisingly clean and tidy. Transportation in the area is very convenient; it's very close to both the train and bus stations. The Empire State Building and Macy's are also within walking distance. There's an Essen restaurant right at the corner, and their food is very reasonably priced. The hotel lobby isn't large. The check-in and check-out process was smooth, though they require a $200 deposit. There's a small lounge area where you can relax if you've checked out and have nowhere else to go; nobody bothers you. The room was clean and comfortable, equipped with all the necessary amenities. There's no complimentary bottled water, but you can get free water from the 6th floor; I didn't bother going, partly because it seemed like a hassle and partly because I suspected it might just be tap water. There were no slippers, toothbrush, toothpaste, or a kettle, just a capsule coffee machine, which I didn't know how to operate. The bed was very high and too soft. There were four pillows, but no duvet cover; instead, the comforter was sandwiched between two flat sheets. I wonder if that's standard practice here.

Overall services excellent! Quick check in and check out. Missed the opportunity for breakfast in the Hotel. The free coffee and purified drinking water surprised me. Good choice. The facility was excellent. Clean and in a great area. The problem came with the service and amenities. The service was very slow and there were no amenities in the room. There was no iron, no refrigerator. Not even an ice machine in the building. I was very disappointed that these basic needs weren't met, especially given the large cost of the room.

The business is so good that we can't check in early and there's no time to clean the room every day. Check in was easy, but our room was not nice at all. I do not understand how this hotel is marked as five star because it had three star standards. The first room we were placed in was the handicap accessible room, even though we booked the Classic Queen. The rug was torn up and dirty, the bathroom was oddly arranged, the room was extremely small where you can only sit on your bed. There were no drawers to place your clothes, and there seemed to be a fridge at some point but was taken out. I called the front desk if there was supposed to be a fridge and they rudely said ”no” and hung up. The pillows were horrible - flat, no support at all. I had to use two or three pillows to support my head and neck at night. We woke up the first morning and the room was so hot. We came to find out our HVAC was not working. We called down and we were able to change rooms. The second room was nicer and surprise surprise there was a fridge! We were under the impression that all the rooms did not have fridges since our first one did not have one. So yes, they put us in a subpar room purposefully because maybe we booked through a third party? Either way, do not stay at this hotel if you're expecting ”five star.” The only plus was location - close to the Canal St subway station. Will not stay there again, and definitely do not recommend.
