Recently stayed here on business as I was working in the area; Right; where do I start?!; First of all The Room; Basically a quirky & cheaply decorated storage cupboard with cheap metal/tin cabinets!. Beds were ok and bathroom was nice but the room itself was decorated with lemons and oranges and I woke up thinking I’d been on some sort of acid trip! Hotel free WiFi was absolutely diabolical, certainly not suitable for a business traveller who wants to do simple things (like access emails) that in any half decent hotel should be paramount in this day and age. I did in incidently pay E5 for an upgrade to the allegedly fast WiFi !! Please don’t bother as it’s certainly no quicker than the diabolical free one. Staff: My impression was that the majority (if not all) of the staff are all bits of students who attend the neighbouring food college and work in the hotel to top up their pocket money, staff who have had no training (with exception of the chefs) in working in the real world, customer service and attention to detail. For example; As a type 1 diabetic I went to the restraunt for my evening meal and although the food was very nice (and really good portions). after finishing my meal (of 3 cola lights and burger and chips) I asked for the bill. When the bill came I was charged for one additional drink that I hadn’t had. When I questioned this the waitress said “yes your right, one cola (full sugar!!) two cola lights and burger /chips !! I questioned this and the waitress said yes I gave you cola!!(full sugar) , I then informed her that I was diabetic, showed her my insulin pen and basically the response was “what about the sugar in your burger!!. I tried (like I did when ordering my drinks) to explain that it is critical that as a diabetic full sugar drinks could send my blood sugar through the roof and put me in a diabetic coma!!, too be honest I may aswell spoken to the wall! . Basically my overall impression was that these bits of kids working at this place have had no training whatsoever and before they go into jobs like this they should do a stint working in the real world or alternatively have sufficient training in the job they do! Let’s just say I had a very restless night and this was the night before I was supposed to be working in a professional role!! After seeing my hotel bill the following morning I thought the charge for an absolute horrible experience, and the quality of room I stayed in (along with diabolical WiFi) was absolutely extortionate! Don’t think I will be rushing back!, a very, very bad experience all round

By chance during our cruise trip along River Rhine in mid-Oct, we participated in a private concert performance in Schloss Engers at night. It was a nice hotel facing the river and the back of this hotel was the entrance to Villa Musica. The place was very large while the private rooms were large enough to hold small concerts and conferences. Really surprise to see a violin concert performance in the castle hotel. Hope to stay in this hotel during our visit to Engers next time.

A real Wow Factor as you drive up to this half-timbered 1621 building! Next door to the Baroque castle now a music academy and only a few hundred yards from the Rhine, this is a cosy, friendly pub of a hotel, serving hearty breakfasts and huge portions at dinner, and excellent value. Guest rooms are mainly in the new building attached, up a narrow stairway, and ours was quiet and comfortable. Upside is location - handy for loads of walks and excursions, and opposite a great ice-cream parlour. Downside - no parking even though it said it was available. We parked beside the ice-cream shop, but that could be a problem in high season.

We stayed at Hotel am Ochsentor with friends and thoroughly enjoyed it. The rooms were well appointed, modern, spacious and very clean. Same can be said for the bathroom. Friendly staff that made us feel welcome. The COVID situation and measures the hotel had taken to prevent further spreading of the virus were well explained. Beds were extremely comfortable. One area that needs improving: firmer and more pillows please. One deflated down pillow doesn’t offer enough neck support. Because of Corona the reception closed early so there was no one to ask for more pillows. Luckily I brought a small travel pillow... Location of the hotel is excellent. Andernach is worth exploring by foot. We parked our car in the underground parking garage- 8 euros per night. With temperatures soaring definitely worth it. Convenient, safe and cool. Several good restaurants and terraces nearby. Would stay here again! Recommended.

My wife and I stayed at the Villa am Rhine earlier this month and thoroughly enjoyed the stay. We expected a country hotel with standard hotel environment. We found to our delight that this hotel is a very modern, clean and friendly establishment that we recommend without reservation. We speak virtually no Deutsche but all the staff bent over backwards to make us feel welcome, especially one lady who spoke English Lilith. The hotel is situated overlooking the Rhine at Andernach. The breakfast on the balcony overlooking the river was superb. The range of food was extensive and the coffee/tea was served as required. Likewise the restaurant beside the balcony had a great environment and the menu was excellent. We would not hesitate in staying there again if we re-visit the area.
