|0.49km from city centerI was not aware of the beauty of Montpellier and it is certainly worth a trip, especially when one loves typical mediterranean night life: small alleys, very cute restaurants and cafés everywhere, everybody on the streets. The Hotel des Arts fits in perfectly - it is conveniently close to the nightlife hotspots and close to the station Saint Roch. The owner is very nice and speaks good English ;-) the hotel itself has the charms of an antique city house while the rooms are modern, clean and well equipped. Certainly a good place to stay at least for a short stop-over or a couple of nights.

|1.59km from city centerThe meeting I attended in Montpellier was held at the city hall, Hotel de Ville, which is an impressive, vast, modern bulk in a booming concrete district south of the centre. Three minutes walk away is the Adagio Aparthotel, which is also close to tramways and therefore easily accessible from the city centre. I was very satisfied with the accommodation in a clean and well-equipped mini-apartment with fridge, cooker and a small dining table. The bed was comfortable and there were lots of shelves and cupboards as well as good lighting. However, a comfy chair to relax in would have been welcome. There's a lounge area on the ground floor where a good breakfast (including eggs, croissant and fresh fruit) is served. Although it is built and decorated in a slightly soulless style the Adagio was more than adequate for my two night stay.

It is also very hot in the room which does not have functional air conditioning at the time of our passage. The hotel is ideally located: two minutes walk from the city centre, very close to the station and the parking of the Comedie (paying parking, -20% for the guests of the hotel). The staff is very pleasant and available for h24.

However trying to access the hotel by road is very difficult due to major road/tram works in Montpelier when we went in July 2023. In the end we found the recommended car park and walked to the hotel, some 10 minutes. On arrival at 13.35hr we were told the room would only be ready at 14.00hr, and after explaining that we had arrived in Montpelier at 12.30hr and it had taken us an hour of driving and walking to find the hotel, they insisted the room would only be ready at 14.00hr. After this glitch I have to say the hotel was one of the best, 12 individual rooms I gather furnished differently, with different bathrooms - we had booked the powers shower, which was wonderful. Getting into the heart of the city was easy (5 minutes) and the car park we found was only 2 minutes away.

For a fifty-euro (low season - end of January), it is even better than what could be expected: innocent cleanliness, hyper comfortable litter (i had even difficulty to get out of my bed in the morning), Very satisfactory room, kitchen equipped (with dishwasher and hot!) and separated from the room by a door, spacious Bathroom with large mirror, facilities (switches, takes, head lamps, ...) are ergonomic, No discomforts level noise, hot coffee-the-chocolate willing in the DRC, very polite and courtesy staff, in short, nothing to reiterate.

Impossible to have a late relaxing morning. The staff was super friendly, with one exception: With my loyalty card I am being offered a free drink. I ordered a beer and the bar tender was about to pour it, when his supervisor barged in and she said ”if he doesn't pay he only gets a small one !” How pathetic is that ? Breakfast was ok and the bed, as always in Ibis, super comfortable.

There was a funny announcement at the check in desk, asking for patrons to be patient and kind with the staff as they appeared to be missing personnel. The man who checked us in was nice. The room was not. The air-conditioner would not cool the room and we had a sleepless, frustrating night roasting in our bed. The furnishings in the room mirrored that of the hotel..depressing, worn out, and in need of updating. There was ONE PLUG in the entire room. I was not even going to write this review because it is clear that this hotel has been left behind - it did not look or feel like the other NOVATELs we’ve stayed at. The entire property including the exterior of the building needs care and a ‘relooking.’ THIS REVIEW IS BEING WRITTEN BECAUSE THE RESTAURANT IS EXCEPTIONAL. OUR MEAL, INCLUDING A WONDERFUL LOCAL BOTTLE OF WINE, RECOMMENDED BY OUR SERVER PUMARINO RUBEN, WAS DELIGHTFUL. OUR TIME SPENT WITH HIM WAS FUN AND ENJOYABLE. THANK YOU MR. The furnishings and finishings are dated (definitely) and maybe even a very tiny bit threadbare here and there. BUT ... I loved staying here. It was clean, quiet; the people are nice, and it's small enough that you absolutely will get treated as a human being and not an account number. The building is charming. The street is charming. The nearby restaurants and other businesses are great (Visit Le Panier D'Aimé around the corner). And there is nothing but good things to say about Montpellier's old city centre. We would not stay anywhere but here while in this city. We are here frequently and have tried apartment rentals etc. This is the best. BTW, if you arrive by car, the public parking, a few steps away on Rue Foch and opposite the enormous Cour d'Appel, is not only convenient but reasonably priced (be aware (1) that the pedestrian entrance to the garage is tricky to find if you don't realize that you must take the stairs which are located across the street (Rue Foch) from the automobile access. The stairs descend into an opening in the plaza in front of the Cour d'Appel. Down those stairs there is an elevator to the garage, and (2) when you exit with your car, you will find yourself popping out in an underpass, below the Rue Foch and Arc de Triomphe and onto the underpass section of Blvd Prof Louis Valleton--disorienting if you aren't expecting it, because your nav system will not wake up until you get out from all of underground and underpass environment. I would rate this hotel a '5' except that I realize it gives an impression of being a bit 'down-market.' On the other hand, the rates are very reasonable; Voilå! An extra dinner out! Another 'BTW': our room was on the back, overlooking the courtyard and Cathédrale Saint-Pierre, which was nice ... you could ask.

Bathroom was nice and modern too! Only downside was that there was no bottled water (although tap water is drinkable) and also limited coffee supplies. Check in was pretty straight forward. There was roadworks outside during our stay but it didn’t bother us as they weren’t on whilst we were sleeping.

|0.68km from city centerthe good stuff: the hotel is well placed, although i had difficulty finding the front door, which was on a street opposite from the address i had for the hotel. reception was friendly and efficient, the bed is comfortable and the linens are decent. the less-good stuff: the room itself is old and needs refreshing. the bathroom, in particular needs attention (toilet bowl stained and running, vanity drawers just about to fall apart (need to be attentive to open and close them properly), the rug is crappy and stained. i would not return, nor recommend. this hotel is not inexpensive and i would add that to call it ”prestige” is a gross overstatement.

|0.63km from city centerThe pros: Has a pool. Ok rooms and sleeping quality. The cons: The lunch by the pool was a joke. Expensive beyond belief with very little selection (just attempted ”posh” food). It took 45 minutes to get the food (there were 2 other customers at the same time). And once it arrived half of it was cold (proper cold... not just luke warm). Half of the dishes were mixed up (wrong conduits). The meat was dry and not a chance in hell that the pork served was real Iberico. We got half price of as compensation, should have been 100%. Just have the lunch elsewhere. The pool area is too small, there are only about 10 sun chairs which are constantly occupied. And here's the worst thing; they put a deposit of 300 EUR on your card. This deposit is not lifted until your bank decides that it's taken too long time for them to claim the money (2 weeks in my case). I went back to the hotel to ask them where the fk my money was, but they gave me copies of the ”lift” receipt. Doesn't help me, they are still not doing it right. I have had deposits put on my card tons of times and it has always been lifted the day you check out. This is not a ”party” hotel in Ibiza, why would you have a deposit in a 4 star hotel? It is just tacky, borderline pathetic. Just do not accept them putting any deposit on your card, there is no reason for it.

Nous avons eu la chambre 215 au deuxième étage lorsque vous arrivez au couloir de votre chambre là c’est une toute autre ambiance rien à voir avec le hall d’accueil vieille moquette, troué, on se dit que va être la chambre .. et la stupeur la chambre très vieillot, une salle de bain dégueulasse avec du moisi sur la paroi de douche, sur le carrelage, le sol de la salle de bain , aucune brosse à toilette ,des trous dans le mur, 2023 pas de prise au niveau des tables de nuit, deux seules prises une pour le frigo et une pour la bouilloire ou recharge-t-on nos tablettes et nos téléphones ? Par contre bonne literie … venons au petit déjeuner à 19 € par personne et par jour petit déjeuner … 19 € quoi ? pour décroissant décongeler des pancakes décongeler un café à la machine, 3 fruits .. si par malheur, vous arrivez à 9h45, il n’y a pratiquement plus rien… Super déçu de cette hôtel, quatre étoiles que nous avions choisi, il mérite franchement que une étoile

Montpellier is a university town with a very vibrant college crowd. This hotel is an easy walk to the main sights in Montpellier and to some great restaurants. The room had a great layout, was very comfortable, and with the option of a decent breakfast offering. We had a car and parking was available on site, which was wonderful after some of the parking issues we had elsewhere. Would not hesitate to recommend.

Because self-driving cars have to park on the other side of the square (in fact, it’s only a 5-minute walk, but there is no elevator in the public parking lot, so you have to pick up the boxes from the underground by yourself), we have been out for more than ten days, two large boxes and two small boxes of luggage- Passing through the square should be too big a target, so unfortunately I was targeted-at the last moment when I entered the hotel door, the two female thieves went one after the other, and when I subconsciously turned back, the back hand was already touching my schoolbag...turning back When I checked in, I asked the front desk how the security was like this-he bluntly said that the place was very safe-the problem is that according to our observations over the next two days, it was a group of gypsies who usually occupies the intersection next to the hotel! Focus on tourists! Is it possible that the locals in the hotel can't not see? It didn't even explain anything that caught our attention! I regretted it for two nights-because of the accident that happened on the first day, we completely lost the idea of visiting the city-we drove out of the city

Parking is easy which is a plus, and location is good - quick walk to the centre for all restaurants and shops. Room very small with a lingering smell of smoking - I appreciate it is a no smoking hotel, but as a non- smoker someone had clearly been smoking. Minimal tea/coffee tray - 1 teabag, 1 sachet caffeinated coffee, 1 sachet decaf, 2 sachets sugar. No milk. All felt a bit old and jaded, much how I felt after a stay here.
