While the property looked stupendous on the website and was recommended by a friend, the first interaction on the phone was a disappointment. We were looking for a suite room as adverstised on the website but learnt that it was still under construction. Our next choice of interconnecting rooms was not an option existing at the property. We then went for the next best thing, adjacent rooms. Checkin took too long which is where we got the first surprise, rates had changed since booking which meant that we ended up paying more than had budgeted. Rooms were spacious and well laid out expect for the column in the middle of one of our two rooms which indicated a bad design. Hiccups soon surfaced with the running hot water not being available due a failure of the solar water heaters at the property, for which we sympathised with the property dur to the incessant rains. The situation was rectified with buckets of water brought in by the housekeeping staff. Room service choices for breakfast were limited to south indian vegetarian staples of idli, dosa, poori etc but were nonetheless surprisingly well cooked and held up to a good standard than what one would come across in most other hotels in the malabar region which do not have the best vegetarian fare. Lunch with its combination of kerala and mughlai veg fare was very well done and presented a decent standard which again was better than one can hope for in most other hotels. Dinner with its mughlai flavors matched lunch. Suffice to say that while they may not have a great deal of choices, what they do have is done well. Sleep quality was good including bedding and the air conditioners were decent enough. A major design flaw in the rooms was the enclosed balcony which had the compressors of the rooms split ac blowing hot air thereby making it terribly hot. What logic possessed such a layout is beyond understanding. The bathtub in one of the rooms still had its installation plastic labels in place which was odd indeed. A towel rack in the same bathroom came apart during usage. Checkout was smooth and prompt. Over all a good stay but the people runnning the property should take care of the bits and pieces to retain guests.

We had our family reunion here for two days and thoroughly enjoyed it. Wonderful property with abundant opportunity for entertainment. Food was good, though we had limited options due to budget constraints. Julie and her team was very helpful at the restaurant. Sad to see the resort is not earning out of out points, ***agement should work towards it. I suggest It is important to invest in delighting customer in hand first to attract new customers.

The cottages are really nice and have a really good shed leading up from the back exit where you can spend time alone watching the sunrise/set or just introspect among nature. The in-house concierge has good contacts and can drive you up to interesting cultural events in the surrounding area, making the stay that much more valuable. The ayurveda doctor (Dr Akshay who also doubled up as our guide) is friendly, knowledgeable and good too (as told by my friends) as is the authentic Kerala massage therapy (which i tried). The property itself is quite a few kilometers from the main highway and airport transfers are about as expensive as a bangalore - kozhikode flight. The look and feel is slightly more resort-oriented (i.e. more commercial) than a natural surrounding but is good enough to get used to within a couple of days of staying. The one big downer is the slow service , there's very little appreciation of the fact that a guest fed well and on time is part of the whole experience. Menu is not fixed so you can order whatever you like (limited by the expertise of the cooks) and dishes are prepared well. It supposedly books out in advance so ask for cottage recommendations of your choice (eg on the periphery overlooking the fields and with a sun view) than going by whatever's offered. Ayurveda packages are available separately from the cottage rent so you can budget accordingly.

the Muzhapilangad beach which stretches across four kilometres of sand is a drive-in beach where one can drive down the entire length. Calm and serene, the place is secluded and remains unexplored. Black rocks protect this long, clean beach from the currents of the deep, making its shallow waters a swimmers paradise. There is an unpaved road winding through coconut groves, leading to the beach. To the South and about 200 metres away from the beach there is a beautiful island called the "Green Island" which adds to the allure of the beach. Such a conjunction of beach and island is rare....

Good location - on the beach. But very far from the beginning of Payyambalam beach. The facilities of the hotel are run down. The fixtures of the bathrooms are not well maintained. The jet spray is leaking in my room. The toiletries provided are very minimal (e.g. same tiny soap bar to wash hands as to take bath) They claim to have WiFi - but it does not reach the rooms. That is sad - even more so because the mobile signal strength inside the rooms is often zero (no 3G or 4G most often). The building of the hotel is a block - with no grounds. Thus there is no place to relax around the place, other than a tiny balcony on the first floor. I would not recommend this place, unless it is significantly cheaper than any other option available. ----- Updated: The hotel staff keep the room key back when I am going out, but they do not tidy up the room. And I informed the staff that there is a leaky jet spray in the bathroom, which needs to be replaced (jet sprays are probably one of the simplest things to replace in a bathroom - can even be done without tools). But on coming back at night, I find that it's still not replaced. Very disappointing. Downgrading from 3 to 2. ---- Updated on 3rd day of stay: the hotel staff didn't do up the room up again, even with the keys being there, and with clear instructions. There is not a morsel of food available in the hotel. Not even some snacks, or even cold drinks. Only water bottles are available. And none of the staff speak English or Hindi. The AC's remote control doesn't work, even though the AC works - so no way of adjusting the flow or increase the temperature or fan speed. And yes - the jet spray is still not fixed. Overall, it is a terrible experience. Downgrading to 1.

Visited the BN on a pre-booked and pre-paid arrangements for 2 double rooms...but their records were not updated. The frontdesk were clueless and went about a rebooking....instead of actually checking out about the pre-booked and pre-paid transaction. Ended up booking again and a loss of one hour waiting in the lobby with family. If their records were in place..we would have been saved the bother. The refunds are done only in Cash and that needs to be collected in person by the one who has done the pre-booking. How inconvenient!!! But the stay was good and the Suite we booked was decent. There was no cleaning OR changes to the towels on our checkout day though we were to checkout at 7pm. The area near the lifts were smelling or stinking of cigarette smoke and liquor smell due to the presence of a bar adjacent to the lift entry. That was a poor placement for a bar when families wait for the only lift to come when called for. Breakfast spread was standard and I believe even smaller decent hotels have a good spread. Continental stuff was missing and the Indian stiff was very standard and no variety day on day. The refills were just not coming inspite of reminders to the attendants. Some positives were being asked for any special requirements during breakfast. Checkout was smooth. Overall..it was good. But can definitely be much better and give the customer a wow experience. It is possible.
