I've seen worse. A LOT worse! But usually, worse means cheaper and in this case, although for Redwood City it is indeed 'budget', you'll get cheaper (and probably the same quality) elsewhere in the Bay Area. Why Redwood City needs so many hotels and why they charge such a high rates is a mystery, but I digress... The biggest problem with this property is the staff. It seems to be a family run business and it's a family that is clueless about how to treat paying customers. They just don't care. It's not that they're out and out rude, it's just that they truly couldn't care less about you. Just pay up, go to your room and don't bother us seems to be the mantra. You can actually check in and out with only a cursory word or two from the staff. They really are astonishingly rude. The lobby contains a coffee machine and packaged pastries and that constitutes the "free" breakfast. There are no other amenities on property. Rooms are on two floors and since there are no elevators, make sure you're on the ground floor if you have mobility issues. Parking is ample. There's a space for each room. I think. Rooms have apparently been 'renovated', but you'd never know. Carpets are old and a bit grubby, but again, I've seen worse. Furniture is a bit battered. There is a fridge and a microwave, plus a big flat screen TV. WIFI is reliable and free. My room was quite large and had a separate sitting/working area and there was a lot of unused space. Linens are relatively clean. Beds are comfortable. Room-room noise is tolerable. Somebody did turn their TV on at full blast around 10PM and must have left the property as it was still blaring at full blast at 10AM. It was heard in every room. The staff did not care. You will also be woken by the (daily it seems) city garbage trucks that reverse into the property, empty all the bins as noisily as they can and then depart. This seems to happen between 7AM and 8AM most mornings. Guests leaving early certainly don't care about keeping quiet. Bathrooms could do with a big refresh, but they are relatively clean. Hot water takes forever to run hot and you may have to run the shower or taps for quite some time to get the hot flowing. A criminal waste of water. Soap and shampoo are provided. Towels could do with much better laundry. It's cheap(ish) for a reason. It's a basic property in a poor area. If it's the best you can get, you won't be too horrified. It's a two star property that delivers a two star experience. At three star prices.

Stayed at the Redwood Creek Inn for one night in October and was really satisfied with it. Nice and affordable, room was clean and offered free parking. Check in/out was super quick and the basic breakfast provided was more than enough to get us going. Car parking was well lit and the grounds around the hotel were clean and well maintained. (Swimming pool under refurbishment) Some food places and shops around. About 20 min drive from SFO airport. Please note this is a budged hotel so do not expect 5 stars facilities. Overall we were really happy with our stay and would recommend to friends.

Commented on the 10+ bugs flying within 1 -2 2 feet of me in the lobby, Response? "Those aren't bugs they are fruit flies!" Is this what you are looking to see and hear? I wasn't able to call the hotel to ask for an early check-in as I went for a run before heading over and mobile battery died. Mentioned that to the front desk. I was not provided an early check-in as a room was not available - which is fine. However shocked by the response - "Oh - Our phones aren't working anyway." I've stayed here before and enjoyed the stay - so was looking forward to staying as I come to work to get a lot of work done during shelter-in-place. In my view dropped 5 stars in a month. No desk, no blow dryer, 2 K Cup coffee - cant give more, no way to call front desk from room - or apparently from away from the property, no breakfast. And bugs. If is appropriate to advise prior to booking no breakfast at this time, no blow dryer and no hotel phone...Disrespectful to not do as I am sure many would book elsewhere if there is no hotel phone line and no blow dryer. All motels have these 2 basic items. I already expect the answer will be no when I go and ask for more towels. So probably won't bother. Had a non-refundable room - which is unfortunate. Certainly won't be back. This is my first ever review - shows how disappointed I am. On previous stay I had an exceptionally pleasant front desk individual who went out of her way to ensure I would enjoy my stay. More coffee and cream/sugars? No problem. No flying bugs. I had a desk I used the majority of my stay, a blow dryer and the motel had a working phone. What if you have an emergency - such as someone trying to break in? No way to call front desk.
