This was our third year staying at the Black Hawk for our anniversary. We love the location and the hotel. Always clean and well maintained. We always stay in the historic main building. Our first stay was on the first floor. I admit these rooms are not my favorite and strongly recommend floor 2 or 3. This year when I called for my reservation I requested room 214 and loved it. I also mentioned it was our anniversary and they offered a $50 upgrade. New this year to the hotel is a bar and a small cafe. Our room came with a farmers breakfast from the cafe and a $10 drink voucher. For our $50 we got our room decorated with candies, flowers and candles, wine of our choice, dessert for 2 and a gift at checkout. We were not disappointed. The front desk was incredibly helpful and the staff at the bar and cafe worked side by side with the Black Hawk to make our stay amazing.

We checked in during a wind storm. I had been working on a draft of an article I am writing and I had it in my hand when I checked in. I left it on the counter and went to the lobby table that had free coffee. I then got my luggage and went up to my room, and we immediately went out again to our event. That night when I returned to my room I wanted to continue working on my paper. That is when I found it was missing. At 10pm or so I was wandering around the lobby, looking in every garbage can for my paper. The woman behind the desk helped look. My husband looked outside. No luck. We came to the conclusion that the man who checked in after me must have picked up my manuscript. The desk clerk remembered him and his room number. She left a note for the next shift and highlighted in yellow to be on the look-out for my paper. The next morning I received a phone call -- they had found my paper. The woman cleaning the man's room found it and put it on her cart, The manager put it in the room behind the front desk. The morning front desk clerk mentioned the missing paper to another worker and he remembered seeing it in the back room. They found it and called me. Needless to say, I will always use the Hampton Inn -- the entire staff went above and beyond in empathizing with my plight and being attentive to finding the only draft of my work with the corrections. Also, the room is comfortable!

We stayed during the COVID-19 closures, this limited our ability to try most of their amenities including, hot breakfast, pool/hot tub, exercise room. Those thing were all closed during our stay. We stayed in one of the king bed, sofa-bed, whirlpool rooms. Our kids did get to enjoy the whirlpool in the room many times through our stay. The hotel is also going through a much need update and the room we stayed in was one of the rooms already completed. The room looked and functioned great! We enjoyed the accommodating staff, who helped gather us some additional personal tables/ fancy TV trays for our room. We were able to put together these smaller tables together and play some games and eat at since restaurants were closed to public dine in locations, but allowed curbside pick up. I would recommend the hotel and staff, if either as a long term stay or just a quick rest.

A lot of good hotels in this area but for the price this is a really good one. Nice rooms. Very clean with plenty of amenities- fridge, coffeemaker, cable channels, etc. I liked the option to choose breakfast. Save you some money if you don’t need it. That said, their breakfast was fantastic. Plenty of choices and a chef to make omelettes or whatever. Really nice ambiance. Pool was great. Had hot tub too. Bed was a bit lumpy- probably time for switch out. Overall great experience

My family got together for late Christmas gathering. Cedar Falls being the 1/2 way point for 2 families meeting. We had two rooms that the staff accommodated us by having adjoining rooms. Spacious rooms with a couch microwave small refrigerator and large bathrooms. For breakfast they had complimentary bar scrambled eggs, sausage, waffles, and also your traditional continental breakfast items. All fresh and good very affordable hotel that is pet friendly. We had a maintenance issues in our room and they responded fast and were willing to move us, but we declined. When we meet again we will return.

Check-in was smooth, easy access to elevators & our room. The complementary hot breakfast was excellent—the hostess kept the food area replenished & circulated the dining room offering additional service to guests who were eating. Our beds were comfortable, it was reasonably quiet & virtually no traffic noise. Not sure the property was at full occupancy, we were there before UNI move-in date. I am sure it will be full on busy weekends at the University. Plan ahead and reserve early.

There are a couple things to mention.. 1 was the swimming pool was closed, i did not see anywhere that it was closed prior to booking and there were families there dissapointed as well bc They were all geared up for the pool with the little ones. Another thing is there are NO Microwaves in the rooms... That was a big issue as we had left overs we couldn't enjoy and they do not offer breakfast. Last thing, the parking ramp is TINY & under construction so more than half of it couldn't be used. Other than those 3 things This was a great fun trip.. I had a blast. I would rent again.. I found out pool opens in end of August

Breakfast is ok. Hotel location is good, there is light rail from the airport to the station of NICOLLET MALL, get off for five or six minutes. There are shopping malls, pharmacies, and TARGET supermarkets about 5-8 minutes walk from nearby. There are many restaurants around, very convenient. There is a parking lot.

The location is very good, just 300 meters away from the exhibition center, the city center is out, there are mall and target nearby, and the clothing and daily necessities are tax-free, so surprised. The hotel lobby is very tall, the parking lot is in the basement, and the elevator is directly to the hotel lobby, which is very convenient, but the hotel parking fee is 14 dollars a night. The overall experience is good, share it with everyone, foreign hotels will be particularly expensive on weekends or when there are many people. This is a bit unacceptable. The price of the first night is especially expensive, twice the third night, so I suggest you choose a good time. Oh, try to avoid weekends and busy time.

The rooms are tastefully furnished, classic and elegant, clean and tidy. Days Hotel is a chain of express hotels, the hotel service is good, check-in and check-out is very convenient, the toilet is not available during the stay, the service staff can handle in time, the attitude is very good. Breakfast is also good, but the types are basically fixed. There are different facilities such as cold drink machine and ice machine on different floors. This is different from domestic ones. The hotel is affordable and suitable for long stays. It is close to the University of Minnesota, about 10 minutes away, and the light rail is also very convenient. It is also convenient to the downtown, Minnesota-St. Paul Airport.

The Westin is inside an old bank and along with the bank vault turned into a wine cellar comes that old bank smell that is both musty but nostalgic. I stay in downtown Minneapolis every month over the last 5 years so I’ve stayed almost everywhere and the Westin has been one of my preferred venues. PROS I was upgraded to one of the suites on the same floor as the fitness center and swimming pool. It was way more space than I needed, but quite nice. I used the pool almost every evening and had it all to my self each time (I’m not that scary looking). As a Marrriott Bonvoy Titanium member I got the free breakfast at the BANK restaurant. It’s nice whenever you can get a hotel connected to the skyway like the Westin. CONS The staff at the BANK restaurant was pretty unengaged to the point that I basically poured my own drinks and got silverware while they just chatted amongst themselves. The bathroom (really the shower) in the suite was not as nice as the ones in more basic rooms. VERDICT A nice downtown hotel with all the normal features presented mostly in a professional and consistent way. I will be staying there again when I can get it for a good price.

My fiancé and I checked into this gorgeous hotel the day after it reopened in July 2020. This hotel lobby is STUNNING. You are surrounded by lush green plants, beautiful marble and glass tile, and cozy places to sit left and right. We were blown away at how pretty it was. We enjoyed learning that this property used to be a bank that was converted to a hotel (you can even see the old bank vaults still installed in a few places in the lobby). It is conveniently located to public transport and in a very walkable location. We were able to walk to the river to sightsee, walk to Target, walk to restaurants and more. Upon arrival, we were greeted warmly at the front desk, given an upgraded room (without even asking for it) and chatted with Tobias, the General Manager, as we learned about the hotels history & reopening. He, and the staff, clearly take a lot of pride in their hotel, it's history, and the work they do to make it a warm and friendly place to stay. Given the pandemic and how topsy-turvy the world is right now, we had concerns traveling and staying in a hotel away from home. These concerns were immediately squashed as we saw how immaculate the hotel and our room was. Extra precautions were put into place, including limiting the cleaning staff from entering the room every day. I can not say enough about how beautiful this hotel is and how friendly the staff was. When we were there the coffee bar & restaurant hadn't re-opened yet. I am looking forward to staying in this property again and enjoying what is sure to be incredible food, in a gorgeous setting. Thanks Tobias and staff for setting our minds at ease by providing such a beautiful and clean hotel for our stay.

I was here for business and this was the hotel that was chosen for me by my hosts. I'm glad they did. The room is very nice and comfortable. The decor is pleasing and tasteful. They do a great job utilizing the space so it doesn't feel cramped yet gives options for relaxing. The fitness center is well enough appointed and offers towels and complimentary bottles of water. The staff has been amazing. They are attentive and friendly. They never walk past anyone or let anyone walk past without some form of greeting. The second morning in the restaurant, the waiter knew our order from the day before. The location is excellent in relation to the rest of downtown and any place you would need to go. My only quibble would the prices for the extras are a touch high. I know hotel snacks are never a bargain, but these are high enough that it was worth the trouble to go out and get some elsewhere. The price for breakfast in the restaurant is on the high side, though the food is excellent and served with a very generous portion. All in all an excellent choice as a place to stay in downtown Minneapolis.
