|0.68km from city centerWe have gone several times , and last time in December 2021. spacious , modern , perfect for families...or couples with beautiful mirrors in the room .... Hyper spacious and modern bathroom . The hotel's buffet is of high quality with fresh and varied products (the only bemol in December with the covid you could not use by themselves, very disturbing ). Another small remark, while we select this hotel for its mini club and its infrastructure for the adolescents, the space was closed because privatized by a cyclist team, The hotel is very nice and the private massage pack with children is perfect.

|1.38km from city centerThe Cookbook has 2 good quality restaurants and calls itself a boutique hotel. Unfortunately the hotel is not boutique as this brings to mind luxury and quality when in reality the rooms are looking tired and in need of attention. On checking in, first impressions were very good, staff are very pleasant and attentive, the reception area is modern and attractive. We were offered a drink while we were checked in, which was very welcome. Unfortunately once we got to our room, we discovered that the air conditioning was not working at all, it was running but just moving around ambient air. We called reception and they advised that they would call in the engineer whilst we were out for dinner. On our return, we were advised that they discovered that the unit had broken and we would be moved to another room. The replacement room air conditioning was working as it was a brand new unit, but instead of replacing the old unit with this new one, the old unit was left in place on another wall and the new one added as well. So the room contained two air conditioners which looked a bit odd. The hotel corridors were roasting hot, it appears that either the air conditioning is not working in these either or they had been turned off to save money. Our replacement room was looking very tired in places with doors needing sanding and revarnishing and drawers that were falling out if you pulled them out too far. Using the bathroom, we discovered a couple of issues. Firstly the sink tap was falling apart. Secondly and to be honest, totally disgusting was the wet black mould that I only discovered after I ran a bath and had a close up view of the bath tap. We reported both issues to reception and asked that they be resolved. Staff assured us that they would be immediately dealt with and on our return from dinner that evening, we were told that the sink tap had been fixed by the engineer, the mould would be dealt with by room service the following day. We were reassured that staff were on top of the issues and found the sink tap now fully working in the room. We felt confident the mould issue would be resolved the following day but to our disappointment, discovered the tap in exactly the same disgusting state. As were were spending our last night in the hotel and we had already bought it to the hotels attention, we decided to not bother to report a second time, but just list the issue here for other travellers to decide if they want to stay at this hotel or not! Breakfast at the hotel was fine although there was a bit of a lack of choice which other reviewers have complained about. It seems that there was a chef shortage as the receptionist was also doubling as the cook during our stay at the hotel. He advised us that the only thing he could cook was a plain omelette or scrambled eggs. Luckily we were fine with that choice and he cooked them well. I got the impression that most of the money spent on the Cookbook has gone into both restaurants (which are lovely) and

|2.17km from city centerThe Hotel Porto Calpe is, without the slightest hesitation, easily the best accommodation we have had in Spain. This three-star hotel provides comfort, cleanliness and attention to detail was beyond the scope of those three stars. We paid a little extra for a front sea view which was worth every penny as the bustling port has character and charm and looking out and up to the Peñón de Ifach was amazing. I have included some photographs taken from our balcony. You may need to click on these for best effect as they are panoramas. The hotel is compact and bright. The room was immaculate. The bed was huge and extremely comfortable. Our linen was changed and the accommodation was thoroughly cleaned on a daily basis. All of the staff were friendly and helpful and went out of their way to make sure our stay was perfect. We Brits panic a little when there is no kettle in the room, however, one was provided for us without asking. Staying in the port area was nice and central with easy walks, past some amazing archaeology, to the old town and the Playa del Arenal-Bol in one direction and a short hop over to Playa de la Fossa in the other. There is also a brilliant little tourist train which is worth trying. Being in the port area is also a bonus if you like seafood as there are a good number of restaurants here literally specialising in preparing today’s catch for you. The Taberna del Port restaurant which is attached to the hotel is one of the best. We ate here more than once. There is so much to see and do in Calpe. We will certainly return. When we do, we will look for a room at Hotel Porto Calpe.

|2.51km from city centerThe room is spacious, with a sofa and a balcony. It is a few minutes walk from the beach. There are free parking spaces on the street nearby. There is a large supermarket across the street. The swimming pool is very beautiful. It is just in time for the European holidays. It is full of families with children on vacation. , the first choice for Calpe; however, those who are used to staying in star-rated hotels in China may not be used to it. There are no slippers, no toiletries, no paper towels, and no bathrobes. Haha, you need to prepare them yourself.

|2.65km from city centerReally enjoyed our stay, Christmas and New Year. We were on All Inclusive, room on 1st floor, massive balcony which would be excellent in the summer but only got the sun for an hour or so in December. Room was great, cleaned every day ( including Christmas day) we had to say no to the cleaner on New Year's day (a late one). Food was varied but always something we liked and plenty of it. Invited to Gala night on New Year's eve which was a set meal and some people didn't like some courses but we found fantastic. All the staff, restaurant, bar, reception and cleaners very polite and helpful. I struggle to find anything to complain about unlike some reviewers. Will definitely be going back this year. Thankyou all concerned.

|3.32km from city centerIt was not the first time we went to Calpe, but we wanted to avoid the massing of the first beach line, we chose this option. The truth is that we found the quiet we needed to disconnect and enjoy the sun and the swimming pools (which were still open, we like it very much). We could also get down to the beach and the city centre a few times, in September no orange area was paid and parking was easy. The Imperial bungalows are not luxury but are quite good because they have a terrace with good views, the bed was comfortable and the kitchen was enough to cook the basics and so not always have to rely on going to restaurants or make orders. The best of the swimming pools is undoubtedly!

Calpe
|2.09km from city centerRoom well maintained and hotel clean. Staff efficient and friendly from the cleaning ladies to the reception, restaurant and bar. Nice big outdoor pool and sufficient sized indoor pool as well. The evening entertainment could have been better but not a major problem. The hotel is nicely situated and there are plenty of restaurants, bars and shops close by. I would be happy to return to this hotel sometime in the future.

|0.34km from city centerThe hotel is right by the sea, the service is very intimate, the breakfast is very rich, and there is rarely a breakfast provided by champagne. There are more elderly people in the hotel, the living environment is orderly and quiet, and the car station is 6 Euros.

|1.48km from city centerWe were looking for a reasonably priced Christmas Break in the Valencia / Alicante Region of Spain, and have used other hotels in the Port Hotels Portfolio regularly through the year, so we decided on Port Europa Calpe. Yes some of the rooms are old fashioned, and the bathrooms are too, so if you do not like stepping into a bath to get a shower, ask for a modern room. But the staff are extremely helpful, the housekeeping was excellent, we paid for a sea view room and enjoyed watching the gorgeous winter sunsets every night. The Christmas Day lunch was lovely. We liked the location, slightly quieter and a nice walk to the port as well as the town centre along the promenade. One thing I noticed was the age group are certainly more mature, and hardly anybody dressed up for the evenings. We never bothered with the entertainment, so cannot comment. But we liked the food even though it is like eating in a school cafeteria, the tables are packed together and the plastic chairs are a little off putting but we know the Spanish love to be close together to be able to enjoy each others company. Overall for a quiet good value winter / Christmas short break we thought it was very good value for money.
