|0.26km from city centerLa Marine is in an ideal location at the head of the Vieux Port so all the main attractions are within easy walking range. The more expensive rooms have superb vies over the harbour. Our room was clean and comfortable with a sofa, three chairs and a table. Coffee and tea making facilities were provided. There is no restaurant or breakfast room so breakfast is brought to one’s room on a tray: Coffee/tea, orange juice, yoghurt and a selection of pastries. The main negative of the hotel is that there is no lift. Reception is up two steep flights of stairs from the street and our room 16 (no view but cheaper) was up a further two flights of stairs. Even with just and luggage we struggled and we would have found it impossible with 23kg flight luggage. Overall a great location but also relatively expensive although this was La Rochelle at the height of the tourist season.

The hotel is a lovely building on a street with nice shops and cafes. The hotel bar and lounge area is very nicely decorated with comfortable furniture and there was a fire burning, creating a lovely atmosphere. Our bedroom was large, the bed and pillows comfortable and the shower was great. I was very impressed by La Rochelle and would love to visit in summer. Very friendly and helpful staff. We did not eat in the restaurant but it looked good. Thankyou

|0.28km from city centerI struggle to recognise this as a 5 star establishment. Pleasant enough and in a good location, with friendly staff ready to assist. Sadly the systems and facilities let down the hotel. We stayed 4 nights. The hotel restaurant was fully booked on the first night (we were not warned are advised to book in advance despite contacting the hotel prior to arrival) and it was closed on our second and third nights. We were disinclined to book on our last night. The hotel allows dogs. Fine providing owners do not leave them in the room whilst at breakfast, allowing them to bark constantly and waken neighbours. Breakfast was average and let down by slow replacement of items. The moderately warm but congealed bacon and scrambled egg were not attractive. On the other hand, the kitchen produced two excellent omelettes. Leisure facilities were not used. The steam room and sauna were available but shower facilities were out of action during our stay. Who wants to sit around the leisure area in a sweaty state? The pool was poor and afforded nil privacy. A good, if rather expensive cocktail bar, staffed by a man who knows what he is doing. A good, but again, expensive car parking service. There are no sensible options in this part of town.

From the reservation of the stay by e-mail with the very professional receptionists, Sylvie and Pauline, which I thank once again and which I'm already looking forward to returning next year, in the reception at my arrival and the preparation of my accommodation by Mr. Hasni, the clean host who has shown impressive efficiency and concern for the details, so that I can take possession of it as soon as possible, Until the last day of my stay, all the employees of this facility, and even Mr Francois, bravo for your reactivity, have always been listening to me and have responded perfectly to my expectations, requests and remarks. Because I have been cottaged with other hotel facilities in the rock long ago before putting my bags in the centre of the residence, I can strongly recommend this accommodation for a stay court or for several weeks as it was The reception teams can be proud of the skills of their teams and in particular their professionalism. I have been visiting this hotel for a few years for the place, the location, its location in the city, it's true, but also for the human qualities, empathy, professionalism of employees. Ideally located 5 minutes from the station and 3 minutes from the old port, this hotel carries all the cases: cleanliness, availability, services and many others.

|0.45km from city centerWe had one night in La Rochelle and my wife had booked this hotel in advance months ago. It's just at the edge of the Old Town, so you need to park somewhere. The location is just perfect a couple of minutes away from the heart of the harbor, packed with restaurants, tourists and a cool street ambience. The hotel had no elevator, by chance we only had a floor to climb up. Good beds, complete bathroom, a new smart TV in the room allowing quick and easy USB movie loading... That's more that we expected for a 3-star hotel. Also, the breakfast was very good! Additional kudos to the front desk manager, very kind and helpful. That's my go-to place in La Rochelle.

However, the ”studio” is actually a single room with a bed which takes all the space, a tiny kitchen space and a bathroom which has a lot of empty space, a tiny shower and a tiny basin. The window-door to the terrace cannot open fully because the bed is in it's way. Hardly any room to hang your clothes, the trash bin is actually set in the closet... Too bad the architect had no sense of practicallity. As i stayed ”only” one week, no cleaning was done for the room (not even once), and I hardly crossed any staff trhoughout my stay. The lady at the receptionist may need to have some english lessons so that she can feel more comfortable with tourists from other countires. In conclusion, disappointed and would not renew with this type of ”studio”.

|0.69km from city centerWe stayed here for a short Anniversary trip to La Rochelle, and the hotel itself has a great location situated close to the Old Port and a stone’s throw from the Lantern Tower, large west car park, the beach and nearby animal parc. Furthermore it is on the doorstep of the semi-pedestrianised Rue St Jean du Perot and its multitude of restaurants that lead down to the harbourside. Although we stayed over during a bank holiday the Hotel was seemingly very quiet, a tribute to the soundproofing perhaps? Indeed we only realised that there were a lot of other guests when we saw them at Breakfast, which was buffet style and reasonably substantial. Our Exclusive room on the second floor was a bit too minimalist for my taste. There were no drawers for clothes, just a couple of open shelves next to a hanging space and there was not too much art in evidence although there was a large picture by the ground-floor entrance to the lift. On the negative side if you stop outside the main entrance to offload cases etc it is quite a circuitous route to get back behind the hotel to its own car park, which you have to pre-book (at a charge). We parked at ground level which is quite tight to get into. I never ventured down to the underground part of the Car park to see how accessible that was so can’t comment. On leaving the lift to walk to our room there was a damp/musty smell in the corridor and although it wasn’t too evident in our room we found that all our clothes smelt of it when we came home which wasn’t a pleasant reminder of one’s stay! Strangely for a city centre hotel in the room itself there was absolutely no hotel/town information booklet, or the usual tourist brochures one would associate with a location nor even a list of the TV Channels available on the flat screen in-room TV. Our trip did not afford us time to take in the ‘Spa’ part of the hotel. All I can say is that if there is such a facility it was not very well signposted. The bar did have a sign on it about the sauna but it implied that you had to give advance notice if you wanted to use it so that it could be switched on! I assume there was more to it than that but our short stay didn’t afford us the time to try it outif it was there.

|0.39km from city centerI stayed 2 nights in this hotel with my 21 year old daughter in the first week in July. It's in a great position, down a beautiful street & a short walk to all the bustling restaurants along the port. The lady at check in was really lovely, friendly & informative (& again when we came back one night wanting a hot drink to take up to bed with us she helped us with this). The rooms were clean & the beds comfortable (I'm a bit fussy when it comes to what I sleep on but I had a great night sleep). We stayed midweek and didn't experience any issues with noise outside. The walls are a little thin and on rare occasions could hear next door but this didn't bother us at all & what this place offered overall more than made up for it. The shower cubicle was small so wouldn't suit everyone. I've been to La Rochelle many times and stayed at various hotels each time depending on who I'm traveling with (as a couple or large group). This place ticked all of the boxes and we weren't disappointed. On another note: I usually take a taxi from the airport but the queue was horrendous and after half an hour we decided to jump on the bus (it was Illico 1b) and it took us only a couple of minutes walk to the hotel from the Dames Blanches/St Nicholas bus stop....for under 2 euros each...so I'd do this again just to save taxi time, regardless of cost. Recommend this hotel....and of course beautiful La Rochelle. Ps. there's a lovely, buzzy restaurant opposite too with yummy food...it was packed so we had to take ourselves off to a nearby bar to have a drink & wait...worth it though as restaurant had great atmosphere. Enjoy!

The location is excellent only 10 minutes walk away in direct access to the historic heart of the city centre and Old Port, much more effective than in car (20-25mn due to work). Tip: Let his car in the secure parking of the hotel to avoid the gallery to turn around to find a quite expensive and far-from parking place because the nearby parking is quickly saturated.

The outside terrace by the pool was excellent. Breakfast, outside was very varied and lots of favorite choices. The main problem for me was the distance in the heat from the old port, where I had pre -booked dinner. Taxis were not available and the walk was tiring. Staff were very helpful. My only complaint was the hotel situation not being signed as the park entrance gave no indication of a large hotel in its center.

The room was very small, dark, tired and extremely dirty with a thick layer of black dust coating all the skirting boards and worst of the headboard!! We noticed the entrance and stairway were very dusty too, so obviously cleaning is not a priority at this hotel! This was confirmed when we were told that housekeeping would not be cleaning our room during our two night stay due to covid. Having stayed in various hotels in the Uk & Portugal during covid, who still provided housekeeping, we found this very odd. Due to covid I do carry antibacterial hand wipes so I cleaned the thick layer of dust, as we did not want to breath it in, especially as the headboard was totally covered in black dust! It was clear to see that the room has not been cleaned thoroughly for quite sometime, which was not pleasant and very disappointing. I did check to see if we could change hotels but, being peak season there were no vacancies elsewhere. We did mention the black dust upon checking out. The response we received was absolutely shocking! The woman at the desk refused to let me speak, continuously interrupting me! She refused to believe us and kept repeating that the rooms are cleaned regularly! I showed her a photo of the black dirt I had removed with my wipes and she blamed the air conditioning unit, which we didn’t even use! After seeing my photo of the wipes she accused us of being ‘cleaning *******’!! Such a rude and unpleasant, not to mention unprofessional woman!! Zero customer service & care!! During our stay we were unable to use the television in fear of being electrocuted as the plug and wires were precariously hanging off the wall!! We did bring this to her attention but she refused to even listen and swiftly took payment for our stay and ushered us away. Avoid this dark dingy, dirty, hotel!! La Rochelle has many hotels and for €115 per night, you are sure to find much better accommodation elsewhere!!

Rooms an adequate size, stylish with good facilities, plenty of plug sockets including shaver point in bathroom. Everything clean and shiny. Good quality soap. Very well managed with General Manager visible, helping with queries at the desk and ensuring all running smoothly. The breakfast quality and choice good, including healthy options and freshly cut fruit, well managed constantly being replenished by conciencious staff. Scrambled eggs light and fluffy. Good quality hot coffee with big cups available which made my day!! Well done to the management. The hotel had a good and relaxed atmosphere even for us the more mature traveller.

J’ai ainsi opté pour une chambre au dernier étage : Olga à la réception n’a pas hésité à retrousser ses manches pour m’aider à monter la valise 👍🏻🙏🏻 Chambre et literie confortables, salle d’eau tout à fait fonctionnelle. Tout est propre. Le petit-déjeuner proposé est varié et généreux. On accède aux restaurants alentours à pied en moins de 15 minutes. En résumé on y trouve tous les avantages sans les inconvénients. Encore merci à Olga pour les rires et sourires toujours bienvenus après des journées parfois surréalistes
