The hotel is very good, spacious and comfortable, and free Western-style simple buffet, which is richer than most dishes of the same grade I have been to. There seems to be no convenient public transportation nearby, suitable for self-driving. Free WIFI and parking lot.

Was supposed to stay 12/23 - 12/30, but left 12/29. This place has really gone downhill!! We have been staying here exclusively since 2105, but we won't be staying here again. I loved the convenience of having a kitchen, but at $1,205 for the stay & it now seems overpriced. Especially since they no longer do the breakfast buffet - which is understandable with Covid & the CA restrictions; HOWEVER, the crappy ”brown-bag” breakfast is horrible. They don't ask what you want OR offer 2nd/3rd options. Example: 1 pre-packaged banana-nut muffin, 8oz Nestle water, 1 small, bruised red apple, 1 brown sugar chewy granola bar (so much sugar-gross). My husband has a nut allergy and is doing keto (almost 60 lbs lost - good for him!!) So basically you can eat this unhealthy/dangerous ”breakfast” or too bad for you per Sonesta. At least give people 2nd option, geez (hardboiled eggs last non-refrigerated!) No housekeeping the entire stay. Trashy long-term occupants, cigarette butts & dog $hit everywhere. Example: long-term across from our room - with pet - would stand in the hallway area & chain smoke & talk on speaker/cellphone. Where she stood all day/every day were tons of cig butts & dog poop - there is no way Sonesta didn't know about this person - and she wasn't the only one. Any way, I could go on, but I won't. Just wanted to give people a heads up that this really is no longer Marriott & spend your $$ elsewhere.

The hotel is large and beautiful, and the check in is very fast. The hotel has a covered bridge that leads directly to the beach. It is very convenient to go to the beach and you can borrow the hotel's beach chairs. The food in the restaurant is very delicious, especially the potato cake, which is worth a try. The waiters at the restaurant are very welcoming and will recommend a variety of cuisines as well as weekend evening restaurant activities.

Although this is named a RESORT, the service and amenities are lacking, therefore I consider this a hotel. The location is across the highway from the sand, so be careful when crossing. The hotel offers beach chairs, bike rentals and umbrella's for a charge. HB allows firepit's on the beach and the hotel will provide a space, chairs and wood for $200. The rooms are on the small side and a partial ocean view will have a very small balcony with two chairs and a table. We had to put the table in our room to move the chair positions. It's tight. We faced south and had a good morning view of the sand and waves in the distance. There is a bed and small couch in the room. The bathroom is minimal, so don't expect Q-Tips, shower cap or thread kit. Housekeeping is ”by request only” and you must notify the front desk early in the morning if you want service. You will not sleep well if you expect to leave your window open. Pacific Coast Highway is very busy with racing cars, loud motorcycles and poolside partying. No wave crashing melodies. There are two pools, one for families and children, the other for adults. It appears that the hotel doesn't care if children use the adult pool, as it was packed with children. Over the weekend the adult pool had a DJ which was nice. The pool service was terrible. Both days drinks took up to an hour and food took longer than that to be delivered. There were three servers, so the problem was the bar and kitchen. You have three choices to eat a meal on site. The main restaurant serves breakfast, lunch and dinner. They only offered a buffet on Saturday and Sunday for breakfast, no ala carte. We tried to order coffee to take it upstairs and they said we would have to go to the marketplace gift store. 10 people in line, slow help and an hour later we walked away with two cups of coffee and a croissant. This place has a few gift store items, however the snacks available were minimal at best. They do offer a decent (not great) pizza. Although it is advertised as thin crust, ours was thick. The main Boardwalk restaurant has an eclectic array of food and for many, it may be difficult to find something satisfying to eat. We ate lunch and dinner here on one occasion. The third restaurant opens for dinner only. The menu items didn't appeal to us and it's likely others agreed. All three nights there were very few patrons. There was a guitarist playing music on Friday and Saturday evening. If Huntington Beach was your destination and you happened to stay at the Hilton, the location is ideal. You are a 20 minute drive to Newport Beach, to enjoy fine dining in the evening, or visit the number of restaurants next door at the outdoor shopping mall or Main Street which is 1/2 a mile away. It's an easy walk. The crowd on Main St tends to get pretty rowdy at nights, and I wouldn't suggest leaving your teenagers there alone or with friends. Although the hotel is conveniently situated for a quick stay in Huntington Beach with excellent views of the water and pier, the condescending and rude manner in which the hotel staff treated me from check-in to check-out is significant enough to ensure I will never stay at the Pasea Hotel & Spa in the future. Due to the reservation being made through AMEX, the staff at the registration desk informed me that the resort fee would be waived at checkout. When I questioned why I was paying the resort fee if it would be waived, the staff even went so far as to slowly and condescendingly define what constitutes an incidental fee versus a resort fee and that the resort fee would be refunded at checkout. At checkout, the same attendant that 'explained' only the resort fee would be refunded claimed she never stated that. After I recounted the conversation at check-in with her, she informed me she would follow up with her manager. After a considerable amount of time, the staff member returned from speaking with her manager and literally stated, ”This is only going to happen this time, and I want to make sure that you know this will never happen again.” The Pasea Hotel & Spa is on par with a Holiday Inn Express with the cot-like mattress, paper-thin sheets, pillows stuffed with cotton balls, and unbelievably drab decor. The hotel's only redeeming quality is its view of Huntington Beach, but the view does little to overcome the horrifying experience of interacting with the staff. The staff unfortunately believes condescending service lends itself to prestige, but the hallmark of a true 4 or 5 star hotel is the service. I cannot recommend this establishment to any traveler.

So 2 of my colleagues and myself, checked in on 1/3 for a company training for one week. The company paid for room, tax, parking and breakfast daily. I was asked for my card for incidentals (who even has incidentals anymore since everyone has a cellphone and a Netflix account, but I digress). My card was charged $1,000 for incidentals. Yes, you saw that correctly, $1,000. When I called down to the front desk, I was told it was a mistake and they apologized. They also comped my dinner for the evening. No worries, continued my week of training. I noticed however, at the end of the week, the $1,000 was still on my card. When I asked why, I was told by a different front desk agent that the hold was put on my card ”just in case my bosses card did not go through.” What? So if I was traveling on vacation, would they ask for my best friend's card ”just in case my card didn't go through?” Again, the apology, and EVENTUALLY the money was put back on my card. Fast forward to our 2nd week of training. This time, I called the hotel directly to express my displeasure with the previous week. I was assured that there would be no issues. And was told they had staff that was training. Myself and my same 2 colleagues check in again on 1/10. I give my card for incidentals. A $40 hold this time. Perfect! We are off to a great start. The stay went well. And no issues when checking out. Until today. There is a $20 and a $48 CHARGE, not a hold, to my card. I call the hotel, and was told the $48 was for parking and they have no idea what the $20 charge is for. What? So they did a credit for the $48, but said I need to call the bank for the $20. Marriott is normally my go-to for travel but i have never heard of this crazy policy of charging a guest's card ”just in case the company card declines.” Needless to say, I will be letting my company know about this. They should definitely find another hotel to put employees in when coming to town.

This was booked as part of our California road trip. We were able to book in early, which was a real plus, however we found the room to be very dark and it smelt damp. It was a good size and had a full size fridge. The carpets however were filthy!! We all had showers and within minutes of walking around barefoot our feet were black!! Our kids used the pool, which was fenced off in the middle of the car park. It had ample seating around it, but it certainly wasn’t the cleanest. The hot tub was green in colour. We had an issue with our sink, which made it unusable. It took 2 phone calls to reception to get this sorted. The hotel was well positioned for Newport and Huntington. It’s on a busy road, but there are good restaurants and shops around. I wouldn’t recommend this hotel. Its dated and needs a good clean.

Helen Berkley went over and above our expectations during our stay. Thank you for making this another memorable experience. Special recognition to Halle and Cooper for making our stay comfortable. Stayed at Kimpton Shorebreak Huntington Beach, CA for 1 night. 9/25/22 to 9/26/22. We received a complimentary room upgrade to a 1 King Suite Oceanfront View Room for being IHG Diamond Members. I love the soaking bathtub, possibly one of the largest tubs I've experienced. Room also has extra large shower area with his and her shower heads each side. Just wow! Resort Fee $40 including taxes on all stays (including reward stays) Many of us don't like to pay for resort fees for hotels with lackluster benefits they offer, but this is one of the few hotels I have ever stayed where the resort fee was actually worth it. Here's the list: free coffee in the morning from 6am to 9am, use of chairs, towels, and even boogie boards for the beach, free beer and wine from 5pm to 6pm, and all the S'Mores you can eat all evening until 10pm. Ping pong table and foosball table in the lobby. Great gym facility including rock climbing wall. For the past 2 years, I have stayed at this property three times and its one of my favorite hotels in the Kimpton Portfolio. Service 5 Stars++ Location 5 Stars++ Sleep Quality 5 Stars++ We will definitely be coming back year after year for many years to come!

I personally think it's not bad, a hotel. The environment is very good. It's also very close to the airport, and you can get there quickly by calling UBER. And it's a 5-10 minute walk across from the hotel, which is the largest shopping mall in Los Angeles....South Coast Plaza, all the nameplates are in place, it's worth visiting.

It is not very recommended, the hotel is a bit old, the hot water in the bathroom is very difficult to run, the room is relatively large but the color is dull, the sofa will be itchy after sitting for a long time, but it should be soft water, which should be affirmed, and the parking fee is 36 dollars a day. It's amazingly expensive.

Overall we enjoyed our stay at this small charming hotel, but we did have a few bumps and a few comments to make. We liked the style of our room that continued the yacht club vibe of the hotel. The blue and white room was cheerful with some built-in shelving, textured walls, and custom light fixtures that gave the space a homey but sophisticated look. We also appreciated ample drawer space and an empty mini refrigerator to put our own items in. We did not use the TV during our stay, but if we had, the best way would have been from the bed as the lounger in the room faces away from the screen. The black and white tiled bathroom was attractive with a large walk-in shower. We did have an issue with the air conditioning not really getting to a comfortable level until the middle of the third night of our stay, despite reasonable and consistent outside temperatures. Also of note two of the six showers taken by us were cool. A highlight of the hotel is the pool which is located in a courtyard surrounded by the hotel. It is nice and long and seems to have more than enough loungers around it. The gym is accessed off a covered corridor next to the pool and has a few cardio machines, windows to the pool, but limited workout equipment. We did not use or see the spa. We had breakfast at the very stylish Mayor’s Table and enjoyed a good meal and service. Overall the staff at the hotel was friendly with the parking valets a real standout. They looked great in their sporty causal outfits and always had the car available within minutes. The location of the hotel is great for easy walks to the beach or the cute Lido Marina Village shopping area where you will find a collection of great upscale restaurants overlooking a marina, plus a few shops. The hotel however is surrounded by roads, one of them very busy, and its own parking lot. There seems to be limited meeting space which we think is a good thing so the chances of a large group overwhelming the hotel are slim. Since this hotel often can charge more than $600 for the cheapest room we expected higher quality basic room features. The bed sheets were thin and average, the toilet paper thin and cheap, and the toilet seat surprisingly not a soft close model. And to be picky, we thought the pool loungers should have been cushioned at this pricing level. Parking is $46 per day, and the resort fee is $35 a day but does include use of bikes and a beach shuttle. Neither of which we used.

As I pulled up to the hotel, two police cruisers were departing. I found out why as I walked down the second floor hallway, skirting the possessions of a freshly evicted patron who was still arguing with a manager. When I got to the room, there was glitter in the carpet and bathroom (along with one long hair on the wall of the shower) and a couple of bobby pins on the floor. In general, the feel of living in an apartment in a poorer part of town persisted the two weeks I was down burying my father and trying to get things organized for my family. The stairwells smelled of cigarette smoke and a screaming baby or barking dogs could often be heard through the walls. If I used the keyed stairwell doors, I was worried I’d have to confront an unsavory person who was trying to tailgate through them. Neither my rental car or room were broken into, thank goodness, but I did not feel particularly safe during my stay. I’d stayed there with my family about 10 years ago while visiting my father and it felt like a long term option for business travelers on contract at nearby aerospace companies. This time it felt more like a flophouse.

Overall, this is a good hotel to stay in for the area. It is not too close to the freeway or the busy street of Beach Blvd. It is upwind from the freeway and so you can breathe a little bit easier. Directly across the street is Whole Foods supermarket and Bella Terra, a shopping and dining complex which consists of California Pizza Kitchen, Cheese Cake Factory, Island Burgers, Jamba Juice, Somi Somi, Jamba Juice, and a whole bunch of stuff. There’s also REI if you need camping gear and a movie theater too. If you want Vietnamese noodle soup, there are two of the best noodle shops in Orange County within walking distance: they are Silk Noodle Bar (they make their noodles fresh and their filet mignon pho is out of this world. You can add other meats like meatballs to it if you want.) and Pho 101 (their sister restaurant Pho 79 won the James Beard Award recently. They have a good variety of things like the grilled pork and shrimp vermicelli. You may have to wait in line for a bit on the weekends.) A 5 minute walk to Beach Boulevard will get you to the bus stop where for $2 (or $4 for an unlimited one day pass) can get you to the beach and Huntington Beach Pier. Back to the hotel, you can expect a fairly insulated wall, a robust air conditioning system, clean rooms and amenities (their is an exercise room where you can get your water bottle refilled). My room 220 has a broken faucet though. (I took .5 points off for this but gave them the benefit of the doubt and gave them 5 stars anyway because the staff, especially Nicolas and Anthony were great in helping to take care of it. These guys were genuinely concerned about my dilemma of waking at night to use the toilet and faucet and couldn’t shut the water off until I had to shut off the valve below the sink.) There is, however, a new trainee at the front desk during the week that I am here. She is the embodiment of the Wells Fargo perky but has no soul employee who unnecessarily tries to engage you in conversation by making and/or asking personal statements questions. I know she is new. All I have to say is for her to lower her voice a bit and imagine that she is checking in her aunts and uncles each time she relates to people at the front desk. The room layout is natural and convenient. The architect who drew this layout up is a genius. The a/c hums but not noisily. The bed is comfortable. The bathroom and toilet are clean. The second floor has an open terrace that you can sunbathe and play games. Overall, this is a good choice if you can afford this price range.

Obviously right on the beach is always convenient, rooms were clean. Check in was quick and employee was very helpful. Parking below ground was nice. Some construction going on - they have notices posted. I wish they would transition back to a real breakfast - still only grab n’ go (granola bar, muffin and piece of fruit). My only real complaint that might keep me from staying again would be the noise - walls were pretty thin so could hear lots of outside noise as well as hallway noise which was a little annoying at night.

The Hotel was very easy to find and just a five minute walk to the beach. First impression was a little doubtful as the tiny checkin office is a little unkempt and the staff although friendly could definitely be more professionally dressed. There is not an elevator but it is only 3 floors. The steps are in need of paint which would help with that first impression. Then we stepped into our very lovely third floor Harbour view jacuzzi room! It was perfect for our stay! Spacious and modern with a lovely Harbour view. The shower pressure was fine and our bed was comfortable. The furniture modern. We had a fridge and microwave. Maid service was fine. We could leave our car parked in the free garage and walk to several restaurants as well as the beach.. Great qstay and would definitely return.
