|2.05km from city centerWhat a beautiful and nostalgic hotel…our room had our own lap pool complete with cushioned lounge chairs…happy hour was a 2 for 1 deal and the staff couldn’t have been more accommodating and friendly…we swam and lounged out at the main pool…so relaxing! A free breakfast was included with our room (other breakfast items available at additional cost)..just enough to get our morning started before we headed out for the day! Pre COVID I’m sure the outside pool bar would be open which is always a plus when hanging out at the pool! Definitely on our list when we return to Costa Rica next year!

|1.68km from city centerWould not go here again. We stayed 2 night here and for the money you spend, you expect a little bit more. We had the room at the very end of the hotel (26). The two days we were there, maintanance was going on right infront of our door. (Installing electrical things). Which means that there were 3 guys in front of our door making noise, drilling and stuff from 10 till 20.30. And what really annoyed us, was the tourist vendor right outside the hotel. He puts on really loud music (panflute music etc) from 7 in the morning. Room was oke, but they don’t have breakfast, missing a coffeemaker, watercooker and fridge. Yes, even in this hot country, they decide not to put a fridge in the room.

|3.19km from city centerWe stayed at this hotel for a couple of nights while visiting Manuel Antonio National Park. It is a very lovely little hotel situated on a hill and attached to a restaurant that provides free breakfast for its guests (check to make sure your room has it included, I believe some rooms did not). Things we liked - the rooms were very clean, well arranged, there was a small safe (you have to get a key from the desk), A/C (very needed - it is quite hot and humid in the area), a fairly large pool with a bar and lounge chairs (free), and the staff were very friendly and helpful. Also bonus - they have a cat! (or possibly a couple of them). Breakfast was nice, a few choices and some add-ons like bacon, ham etc. that you have to pay extra for but I thought they had enough options - typical breakfast, ham and cheese sandwich and yogurt and granola as well as coffee/tea and orange juice. Wait staff were great too. The entire building is very beautiful, there is a lush green garden all around, hammocks by the rooms outside and the furnishings were nice too. Things that could be better - NOT entirely an accessible hotel, I cannot stress this enough! They do have golf carts and will drive you up to your rooms (the rooms are up a hill as well) and I believe if you have a wheelchair, you might be able to go up the ramp to the rooms as well but don't quote me on that. The golf carts are not available 24/7 so if you cannot walk down the stairs or down the hill on the path, you might end up stuck in your room or down by the reception. The restaurant is down some stairs as well. Big tip - inspect your room when you get in! We noticed our room had some existing damage to the night stand and bed headboard and immediately reported to the manager to ensure we were not charged for existing damage (they were aware of it and sent someone up just to check but did not give us any trouble!) - take pictures when you get in and let management know if you notice anything. Overall, would recommend this hotel. Very nice, ample parking and easy to find. Walking distance to a few nice restaurants and short distance from the beaches and Manuel Antonio National Park as well as the neighbouring town of Quepos if you need groceries (note, no fridges in the rooms!).

I was at the spa and I needed ice for my drink that I brought there and all I did was message and they brought it right to me. The food was great breakfast, lunch, and dinner. There was free shuttle service to Agua Azules and the town, which was perfect because we booked parasailing with Agua Azules and they dropped us off right at there steps. The room was clean. The property was beautiful. We got to see sloths, iguanas, and monkeys! The monkeys were right outside our hotel building (we booked a vista suite) when checking out.

We will definitely stay here again next visit. We had monkeys, butterflies, hummingbirds, and iguanas visit us. The breakfast was great too! Way better than we ever expected.

|0.45km from city centerThis is my first time back at this hotel after two years due to COVID and it is great to see many of the same staff that always make this hotel a great spot due to its proximity to the main bus terminal, walking distance to the marina, centro Quepos and the waterfront view. Of particular note are the management staff of Luis and Yoselyn, to the longtime restaurant staff that includes Leo. All are extremely helpful and do everything to assist with any questions you have during your stay. The hotel staff demonstrate good, common-sense measures to minimize COVID (hand sanitizer at entrance and all personnel wear masks). I have also noticed over the years the continued investment in the hotel to upgrade various areas (lobby, pool, restaurant canopy, etc.)

Air conditioned rooms are cleaned daily, and each room has a balcony with a hammock! Great breakfasts and a very creative master bartender (Fabiano!) |3.53km from city centerI am currently writing from Shana. It is 8:30pm and the noise from the renovation work they are doing is horrendous. They have huge trucks, cranes and people banging loud sounds. No one told us this would be the case, and when asked when they would finish they told us 7pm. Well it is 8:35 and they are still here making loud sounds. This is really the most disrespectful way of treating customers. Not telling them you will have work until late evening with loud sounds, pool closed and in general not a relaxed atmosphere. The hotel is far too expensive for this type of treatment and having travelled here from Europe I am so disappointed. Our son could not fall asleep with all this crazy noise which in turn made our evening even more stressful. Definitely not a transparent way of treating your customers and the most stressful days in Costa Rica. For the dishonesty and for not telling us in advance I would discourage anyone from coming until after all works are done. Truly disgusting customer service.

|4.17km from city centerI would recommend this hotel to anybody!! It is so unique and at an amazing location. It is only a short walk to get to Playa Espadilla (one of my favorite beaches in MA). My boyfriend and I stayed here for just 2 nights for his birthday and we had a great experience. Upon arrival, we had balloons in our room, a welcome sign with our names on it, and a free drink from the bar. It felt very personalized and welcoming. The restaurant in the lobby is fantastic and we often hung out in the pool area where they have lots of places to lounge and music playing. The staff knew that it was my boyfriend's birthday and they surprised us with a picnic on the beach at sunset. It was honestly way more than I would've expected. Lots of food, a cocktail, and dessert. I was speechless. The igloos are very cool and fun. Honestly, it was the best sleep we got in those 2 weeks of traveling. AC and nice bed.

|2.15km from city centerWe took a group of 16 plus a driver and guide here for two nights in January. Upon arrival there was no one at the front desk, but the restaurant staff jumped in to help. There was a bit of confusion about our rooms, which may have been our failure to clearly articulate our needs. In any event the owner was wonderful about adjusting our room assignments to fit our needs. The rooms are small but entirely met our needs. The breakfast was off a menu: eggs and meat; pancakes; or traditional Costa Rican fare. The restaurant also offered lunch and dinner as well as a full bar. The food was quite good, especially the pizzas. A very good value and wonderful staff.

Eat lunch at a nice wooden slab table under the palms with your feet in the sand. Swim in 80 degree water. Not too busy, not too fancy but very clean and comfortable. The Karahe was perfect for my family stay. We really enjoyed our few days here. Food was good, the drinks better. Pricing is pretty good, 15-25 US a plate. My teen boys shared pizza, I enjoyed the civiche. The chicken soup is good too (it’s a meal) There’s other places to eat within walking distance (best are up the road). The Karahe delivered a relaxing vacation.

|1.59km from city centerOur worst hotel experience ever. We’ve been robbed in our hotel room, the hotel suspected it was an inside job and did nothing to help us. We have made several attempts to r We stayed at the Selina Manuel Antonio for 4 nights in July and were robbed in our own room. Before leaving the room in the morning, we had closed the window and the door. I received a notification on my banking app showing suspicious activity on one of my cards I had left in the room. We rushed back to the hotel only to find our room had been plundered. Everything of value had been stolen: both computers containing all our work, jewelry, clothes, shoes, handbags, backpacks, perfumes, identity cards. We immediately went to the reception where we tried to explain our situation to the receptionist. Absolutely no reaction, we had to wait, completely panicked for the manager to come, which took what seemed an eternity. The manager, which could not care less, finally appeared and came to the room to witness the ransack. We went straight to the police station to make a deposition. On our way to the police station, we did our best to explain how we found out about the robbery in our broken Spanish, because the manager wasn’t speaking English. At some point at the police station, we understood a glimpse of the conversation which was taking place between the manager and another hotel representative. They were saying in Spanish, that our room was in a blindspot for cameras and that a robbery had previously occurred there some years ago. Fortunately we understood a couple of words and confronted them immediately about that, and they had to confess to what they knew and were apparently trying to hide. The hotel's responsibility in this matter is engaged as (i) the theft occurred inside of the hotel, (ii) our room was in a blindspot for the cameras and the hotel knew about it, (iii) there was already a robbery in the same area of 3 rooms, and (iv) the thieves could open the door without forcing it simply by passing their hands through the poorly secured window (which was closed when we left the room). The hotel is liable and therefore should reimburse the amounts of the stolen items. When we came back from the police station, the manager promised to repair us for the whole amount that was stolen, and to show us the camera feed. Both of these promises were betrayed. The police caught some of the burglars and we managed to get some of our items back (including computers). But the jewelry went missing, and now the hotel acts like nothing ever happened. After more than a month, our requests remain completely unanswered. They are now trying to mislead us with legal jargon and their own insurer’s policy. PS: The room was awful and morbidly humid. No sunlight has ever penetrated trough that broken window.

|2.77km from city centerThis is a great hotel that is small enough to feel intimate but has most of the amenities of a large resort. Of course, the initial highlight is that the hotel is built into the forest and treats the land as a preserve. On top of that, many of the rooms have gorgeous views, and ours had a view of the ocean over the hills. The staff is amazing. Everyone is super friendly and helpful. Even though they have some routines that make things easy to follow and access, the staff is more than willing to help or adjust if you need it. We drove in, and once there they reserved a parking spot for us near the cart / shuttle service for the entire stay! From the entrance / parking, a shuttle takes you to the main building (rain or shine…we never had to wait in the rain and it was pouring when we arrived). The facilities were outstanding and well-appointed. Don’t get me wrong, there are some features that are aged, but most things are very nice and everything is always super-clean. The pools are really nice. Small, but several levels allow for multiple infinity pool experiences, along with floating chairs if you prefer to hold your drink while floating. There is a “swim up” bar that I think is usually open from 12-5 but don’t quote me on that. The food was pretty good. IMO, stick with traditional dishes. Ceviche and traditional Costa Rican breakfast were our favorites, but everything we tried was pretty good. The drink menu is a little light. They offer enough choices, but there are not any high end liquors, and the wine is good but I do not believe I also any vintages that you might expect from a hotel of this caliber. Finally, the rooms were very very nice. Our son had his own “standard” room and it looked as nice as ours did, even though he did not have as much space. Our room was a suite with a bedroom, full bath with walk in shower, a private patio, and a living space complete with leather sofa (and pull out bed), dining table with chairs, and club style chairs to complete the seating area. All very comfortable. Our room also came with access to a private terrace on the top floor. This space also included seating and tables, umbrella, and curtained Chaises. Great views from there and the private patio! In short, we did not have enough time to enjoy all of the amenities even within our own room, but we were beyond comfortable and the views and vibe were amazing. One more thing: the owner has started a macaw restoration project, so you can see Scarlett macaws on the premise. We also saw many other bird species (this is an eBird hotspot for those who use it), heard monkeys, and enjoyed seeing sloths and iguanas on the premise (but not in or near the room 😊).

The location was to die for, 5 minutes to MA National Park, 3 minutes to the beach and minimarket and numerous restaurants to choose from. The bed was comfortable, we had AC in the room as well as TV. Free breakfast in the morning was a huge perk. There is a buffet of fruits and breads and you can choose from a variety of hot breakfast items as well. We loved the pancakes! The staff was very friendly and professional, helping us to book tours and surprising us with wine & a floral arrangement when they found out it was our honeymoon. The pool was also great to relax on a slow day. There was also plenty of wildlife right on sight which is always fun!

First the pluses ....beach is super and the staff down by the beach was friendly and welcoming and they do a great job of creating safety (lots of lifeguard drills it appeared!) and overall the sense of a lovely vacation feel. There are golf carts to take you everywhere on the property, which is pretty necessary as the property is steep and quite spread out. You just give a call and someone shows up in minutes. Many of the drivers have a great personality, just made it surprising when a few of them seemed not friendly--and for us there was no need to speak English--I was always happy to try my Spanish! Ditto for the staff in the main restaurant--some were friendly and welcoming and a few others were all business and not very welcoming or patient. On with the plus items...the beds are very comfortable, rooms are private and quiet, and the policy of free mini bar snacks (with free restocking) is wonderful! The monkeys and iguanas --and sloths--on the property are terrific. There is a dinner in the beach restaurant on Wednesdays, Sats and Suns and since we were only there for the Wed dinner, I wish that the staff at breakfast had reminded us of it and also, there could be a small guide in the room that would include the beach dinner evening schedule as well as a map of the nature trail --with distances. We wanted to walk it ourselves, without their guide, but didn't have a good sense of the overall length of the trail. There was a little sense that they wanted to encourage us to sign up for their guided (for a fee) walk. The food in the main restaurant was good, but not exceptional and the dinners are quite expensive. The breakfast has many choices and again, it's good but not exceptional--but nice that it's included in the room price. Overall, however, it's a lovely place, clearly the nicest place to stay in Manuel Antonio, but also quite pricey, which you know if you're reading this! Trip.com had the best price by far, at least for November.

I know nothing else will be better than my accommodations and amenities at Makanda! So close to everything, and you can get every experience booked through the hotel, not to mention the transportation with them! Food is insanely good! Don’t think there’s a single bad thing on any of the menus offered. Also the caipirinhas are to die for! The private beach topped it all off! No need to go to a crowded beach with families and children, as this resort is adults only! Can’t wait to come back! If you want to see any animals, you can see them here! Monkeys of all kinds, sloths, birds, lizards, bugs, frogs, everything!

|1.18km from city centerSituated in Really good and quiet location, halfway between the park and Quepos Pueblo but close to both, right in the perfect place: close enough to Reach both on your feet but away from the noise of Quepos just enough to remain quiet and to feel in the middle of the nature. Tons of birds will visit the trees above the rooms as well as families of monkeys and parrots. The structure itself is going some renovation works but the rooms are really nice,modern two rooms masonry bungalows, perfectly clean and all already renovated, they are modern and new inside with comfortable and large beds and spacious clean bathrooms with everything you need and very new a/c. The WiFi was also really good, but the best thing of all was to be in modern comfortable Rooms but at the same time being in the middle of trees full of life. We had a wonderful stay, the owner is also really accomodating and will do everything he can to make your stay the best possible!
