Advantage:
Nice location. 3-4 Mins walk to Dayi Warehouse and LRT. 10 Mins walk to Yanchengpu busy area.
The room and bed is comfortable enf though. Room is small but the design layout is good. The place for putting the luggage is perfectly fit for a 30 inches trunk. And there are shelves for other personal belonging as well.
Cleanliness is good too. There are micro wave and washing machines on B1.
Disadvantages:
Staff usually wear a poker face. After knowing your little special request like High Floor, better view, They simply ignore your request by not listening. And then still use the Emachine to random assign for you. Fair enough though, everyone is random. Chit chat at the counter but rarely greet any guest. Perhaps hospitality shouldn’t be applied on this 3 star budget hotel.
Soundproof super weak. Fully clear of what next door is saying. Not quite friendly for couples :)
The phone is just a decoration and an alarm clock. There’s no way to contact the FO except going down.

The lobby had a strong aromatherapy scent that felt like it was trying to mask other odors (😅), and the hallways had a peculiar smell. Thankfully, the room itself was fine. While the carpet was stained, the bedding and other linens appeared reasonably clean. This hotel uses a self-service check-in system, with check-in starting at 4:00 PM. Early arrivals can store their luggage at the hotel. Amenities include a paid children's playground and a free swimming pool. The front desk staff were absolutely wonderful – so friendly and polite. We had initially booked just one night, but due to unexpected weather, we needed to extend our stay for another night at the last minute. Furthermore, the room itself deserves a special mention. It was wonderfully spacious, impeccably clean, and featured modern, well-maintained facilities. The beds were incredibly comfortable, and the soundproofing was superb – even when there was a thunderstorm outside at night, we couldn't hear a thing!

Our stay at Grand Hotel Kaohsiung was fantastic! We only stayed for one night, so we did not get a chance to try the food, but everything else was perfect. The room was spacious, impeccably clean, and well-lit. The beds were super comfy, and the TV was big enough for a relaxing night in.
The highlight was definitely our stunning lake view from the balcony—it was such a peaceful and beautiful sight. The automatic toilet seat was a nice touch, though the bidet function was a bit weak and lacked hot water. Also, it would have been nice to have complimentary water bottles in the room.

The infinity pool is huge with a stunning view, though the water was still a bit chilly in May. The room was thoughtfully stocked with many local snacks. All the staff were incredibly nice. I'd definitely consider staying here again on my next trip to Kaohsiung.
On the downside, the Dyson hairdryer would stop mid-use and flash a red light; I'm not sure if it needs maintenance. There was no weighing scale in the room, nor at the front desk, which could be inconvenient for guests who need to weigh their luggage. Service was great! Everyone was super polite and there was always someone who was fluent in multiple languages. Very clean. I loved the coed outdoor pool on the upper level as well as the same-sex hot tub and sauna rooms. Best part was the food! I have attached photos of the food I got there (all included for free with executive floor rooms).
Breakfast was amazing! I booked the executive floor room (so basically any room on floors 18-20). Executive rooms comes with breakfast by default even if you don't book one that explicitly includes the breakfast. There's actually 2 options for breakfast. There's the Nikko Room Executive breakfast on the top floor where there's a made to order menu (2 choices/day) as well as a buffet of Hors d'oeuvre style foods. The first day we ordered bruleed banana with pancake and egg and then this crepe thing. I preferred the breakfast on the second floor at the Serena All day Restaurant. Serena Restaurant had Haagen Daz ice cream and a greater variety of foods including choose your fruit juice bar, noodle station, lots of buffet style western and asian food, ham by the slice, they also had a cart they pushed around with Hong Kong style dim sum and also another cart for bread.
Booking the executive floor rooms also gave you afternoon tea (3-5pm) which was Hors d'oeuvres and they had a fridge of drinks including, juice, soda, and beer. One day they had a whole rack of fresh honeycomb that you could slice off and eat.
Executive room also gives you Cocktail hour which you can choose from 2 drinks on the menu that they make for you or there's alcohol on the table you can pour yourself. It's unlimited drinks. There's also Hors d'oeuvres for cocktail hour.
Location is decent. It's quiet but not very close to major attractions. It's close to Costco so we went several times. Trains are about a 10 minute walk away so not that close. Not many nearby attractions but that's more of the layout of KaohSiung, we walked to the train and went to the art pier as well as cijin old street, and the Love's Lookout.FromAED 601

The hotel's location is excellent, right across the street from Kaohsiung Main Station (rear exit), so transportation is absolutely no issue. There's a 7-Eleven downstairs, making it incredibly convenient overall. The front desk and staff were all very welcoming and helpful, which I really appreciated. The room itself was exactly as pictured – definitely a bit older but thankfully no dampness or mildew smell, so it's clear they put effort into maintenance. The bedding was also very clean and comfortable. Inevitably, there were some signs of aging, with the cabinets and showerhead perhaps showing their age, but overall, I was quite satisfied. It is also a brief walk to the popular ruifeng night market. As far as I am aware there is no self service laundry or gym etc, but I could be wrong. I did not try the breakfast. Food: small selection of breakfast but tasty. Free Afternoon tea Snacks and drinks are a great plus. You can chill there(2nd flr) while waiting for your room for check in, and rest while waiting for airport pick up after check out.

Let’s talk about the disadvantages first!
① Average sound insulation (doors closing on the same floor can be heard, and outdoor noise is quite noticeable)
I live on the 7th floor.
❷The 2025 Act prohibits the hotel industry from providing disposable toiletries. (This is understandable, but if you need it, you need to pay an additional $20 to purchase it...)
③The hotel’s breakfast is a la carte set meal (staple food + beverage), not an all-you-can-eat buffet. I think it is not a good idea for the food delivery staff to knock on the door to inform guests when delivering food, as it may disturb the guests in the room. We stayed for two nights, and the food was delivered on time on the first day, but nearly half an hour late on the second day.
❹There are no signs or lights such as ”Do Not Disturb” or ”Help Cleaning” in the room, so it is not very intuitive to use.
⑤The hotel opened in October 2013 and is an extremely new hotel. However, the socket design does not include convenient devices such as USB sockets and WIFI. The TV only has Channel 4 and YouTube, and it is not a smart TV.
❻There is no makeup mirror on the desk in the room, which is inconvenient for women.
Advantages:
①The hotel was established in 113.10, so almost all the facilities and hardware are new.
❷The hotel does not provide PET bottled mineral water. Instead, we use water bottles and install ice, warm and hot water dispensers on each floor. This is very environmentally friendly and reduces the output of plastic waste.
③The counter service staff are enthusiastic and polite, and have a good professional image.
❹The toilet is equipped with a bidet, which is in line with the trend of the times.

On the downside, the Dyson hairdryer would stop mid-use and flash a red light; I'm not sure if it needs maintenance. There was no weighing scale in the room, nor at the front desk, which could be inconvenient for guests who need to weigh their luggage. Also, checking in requires taking an elevator to the 25th floor, and similarly, to go out, you have to go to the 25th floor first to switch to another elevator to reach the 1st floor, which is a bit of a hassle.

We had initially booked just one night, but due to unexpected weather, we needed to extend our stay for another night at the last minute. Furthermore, the room itself deserves a special mention. It was wonderfully spacious, impeccably clean, and featured modern, well-maintained facilities. The beds were incredibly comfortable, and the soundproofing was superb – even when there was a thunderstorm outside at night, we couldn't hear a thing!
The gym was also excellent. My family of three was extremely satisfied with our stay. We will definitely choose to stay here again on our next visit!

Our stay at Grand Hotel Kaohsiung was fantastic! We only stayed for one night, so we did not get a chance to try the food, but everything else was perfect. The room was spacious, impeccably clean, and well-lit. The beds were super comfy, and the TV was big enough for a relaxing night in.
The highlight was definitely our stunning lake view from the balcony—it was such a peaceful and beautiful sight. The automatic toilet seat was a nice touch, though the bidet function was a bit weak and lacked hot water. Also, it would have been nice to have complimentary water bottles in the room.

Breakfast is a little simple, but the local rice balls fascinate me even more. I recommend ”Shangpin Rice Balls” at No. 129 Daren Road. The stall will be closed as soon as it is sold out.
There is self-service laundry and paid drying on the 9th floor. The drying efficiency is poor, but I feel grateful to have such equipment.
