Pros Great location for exploring Themal and provided you are not too high up, you shouldn't hear any road noise as it's set back. I was on the 4th floor and could hear the incessant beeping motorbikes but had moved from the first floor where i heard none (but was directly above the kitchen so could hear banging and chairs scraping from around 6am). 2nd floor is probably a good choice Staff were all excellent Room cleaned daily with 2 large bottles of water provided each day Breakfast was ok - decent variety of fruit, local and western with custom eggs. Coffee was instant though. Air con has heat facility No deposit required on check-in Toiletries provided Cons Some noise depending on your room location - dont stay in 107 or room directly above the kitchen/restaurant No safe for passport, cash etc in room Breakfast area isn't particularly clean i.e. dirty table cloths/mats Poor standard of fixtures/fittings e.g. gaps in windows and doors, curtains dont quite close right, dirty shower curtain, the rooms have seen better days but for the price its still good value. No coffee or milk in room (or 3-in one) No phone charging point near the bed Bathroom mat was old and dirty, no floor towel Tips: take extra passport photo if you intend to get a sim card at the airport, unlimited data one with nepal telecom cost me $10 - signal was mostly ok. Get your currency before you arrive or take enough to convert there, the atm machines are expensive Taxi from airport to Themal should be around 350 rupees working on 50 rupees per km plys 30 rupees start charge. You will be hounded relentlessly by people from the second you leave the plane for tour services etc. It may seem impolite but dont make eye contact, say no thank you and keep walking, otherwise you will spend your entire trip speaking to them. Right now its cold at night, pack accordingly. Be prepared to pay for everything, every temple, every place of historical interest - foreigners are charged around 1000-2000 rupees each time. E.g. all the Durbar squares, main stupas and temples. Don't assume that because Nepal is a developing country it is cheap. It isn't. In fact i found it comparable to some developed countries and not cheaper than say Thailand. A meal would cost me around 1000 rupees. In a smaller more local place you may pay 500. Don't take your new trainers, it's a very dirty, dusty city but exactly what you would expect if you've ever seen it on TV - it's all part of the experience. For exploring all of the main parts of Kathmandu, id say 5 days is a good amount of time. I recommend the everest helicopter tour but on that note i will say that tours are very expensive here, more expensive than even Hong Kong, Thailand, etc!! I ended up walking to the main temples, Chandragiri, Bakhtapur for the more local experience.

They are an asset to the hotel, and I am Sure Mr Vinod and His son Mr Prajwol are very proud, who are the owners of this great establishment , who I met with several times in the lobby pool. side and during breakfast. In addiiton to this to this, credit to Housekeeping, Reception staff, night staff Mr Phabin Pun and Mr Sunit Shrstha and all security team. A pleasant small hotel close to restaurants, cafes and tourist shops. Check in was quick, a cup of tea was provided and our suit cases were carried up 5 flights of stairs by the porter, as there was no lift! The room was nice, comfortable and warm- it was February. There was also a good view from the room. Overall a nice place to stay. We didn’t eat in the hotel but complementary breakfasts would have been a nice addition. The staff were friendly and provided some useful info of places to visit. The hotel also provided their vehicle to take us to the airport, at a cost.

King bed and balcony with lovely view of the city. The spa below is awesome at a good price of NPR1500 for 60min ayurvedic massage. There’s many other massages like swedish, deep tissue etc. Friendly staff service, airport pickup at a fee of NPR1300 or usd12. Only down side is the room is dark and the shower and shampoo is just simple soap so don’t expect spa smell types haha. 10min walk to Thamel centre with a junction thats hard to cross so follow the locals to cross will be the safest.

Stayed at KGH for 3 nights and my kids and I loved it. Service: After checking in, I found that the room next door was very noisy. I asked the front desk to change the room, and upgraded to a deluxe room for free. It is very quiet and comfortable, thank you Environment: This is a hotel with a history. The paintings on the walls, exhibits, museums (for a fee), art gallery, and hand-painting classes are all hidden in the hotel. The small garden can meet the play needs of young children Location: The hotel is in an alley, and there are small shops at the entrance. It is very convenient for shopping and eating. It is not far to go to several major attractions. The hotel is expensive to call, and the taxi at the entrance can be negotiated Catering: Nepal has a more traditional taste, the price is slightly higher, but the dining environment is good, and the price is worth it

I lived my life in Canada, USA and Australia. Travelling is my passion. I have been to Nepal several times and visited besides Kathmandu, Pokhara, Chitwan, Nepalgunj, Surkhet, Dullu etc and obviously have stayed at multiple hotels. In Thamel Kathmandu I have stayed in few very hotels but Hotel Osho is where I felt at home. This is my come back to this hotel for good reasons which is hard to find in Thamel. The location is the best and closest to everything in a quiet street. The hotel is very clean with helpful friendly staff. House keeping is excellent. Perfect terrace to relax comparing to many other hotels. Warm heated reception with first class facilities. Please contact Bishnu and he resembles his given name lord Vishnu, he solves all your problems. A friendliest hotel client representative I have ever met in Nepal. He was so open with pricing and kept his words with no strings attached etc eg tax .He even bought a digital scale to weigh my luggage. The facility does not have a lift service but the staff takes care of the luggage. I strongly advise that don’t waste your time searching just book Osho and try try believe me you will not regret. For sure I will return again as it is my second home when I am in Kathmandu, for this stay of 5 weeks still feels short.

We had the pleasure of staying at this exceptional hotel for a total of 6 nights, and we couldn't be more thrilled with our experience. From the moment we arrived, the staff displayed an authentic and warm hospitality that made us feel truly at home. Their genuine friendliness and willingness to assist with every request went above and beyond our expectations. One of the highlights of our stay was the remarkable cleanliness and tranquility of our room. It was evident that great care was taken to ensure a pristine environment, allowing us to relax and unwind in utmost comfort. The icing on the cake was the superb internet reception, which allowed us to stay connected seamlessly throughout our stay. Our stay was punctuated by delightful mornings indulging in an exquisite breakfast spread. The puri or chapati and curry quickly became our favorites, perfectly complemented by the aromatic masala tea and the flavorful masala omelette – a true culinary delight! The hotel's al fresco dining experience was an absolute treat. The ambiance was charming, and the food left an indelible mark on our taste buds. With each meal, we explored a plethora of different dishes, each more tantalizing than the last. It's safe to say that the culinary offerings exceeded our expectations in every way. A noteworthy mention is the hotel's convenient proximity to Boudha Stupa, a mere 10-minute walk away. This made our visits to the stupa incredibly convenient and allowed us to fully immerse ourselves in its serene atmosphere. What sets this hotel apart is not only its remarkable amenities and services but also the unique opportunity it offers. The daily free yoga and meditation sessions held within the monastery on the premises are truly transformative. We highly recommend inquiring about the schedule from the attentive hotel staff – it's an experience that added immeasurable value to our stay. In summary, our time at this hotel was nothing short of exceptional. The combination of attentive staff, immaculate rooms, delectable cuisine, and the added touch of free yoga and meditation sessions make this hotel a standout choice for anyone seeking a memorable stay near Boudha Stupa. We wholeheartedly recommend this establishment to fellow travelers looking for an unforgettable experience. Thank you to the entire staff for making our stay truly remarkable – we eagerly anticipate the opportunity to return! Tip: Indulge in delightful puri & curry breakfast, relish al fresco dining, rejuvenate with free daily yoga. A tranquil oasis near Boudha Stupa.

Our group stayed at the Oasis Hotel before and after our trek to Everest Base Camp. The rooms and the service we fantastic. We stored our bags at the hotel when we went on the EBC trek. Because of weather and the Dashain Festival, we rescheduled our trek to go day later than originally planned. A member of our group came down with Dengue fever on the trek, so we had to return to Kathmandu two days early. Tulsi, the hotel manager, was incredibly helpful and was able to find us rooms to accommodate the changes. Tulsi and the staff at the hotel were very engaging, looked for ways to be of service, and always greeted us warmly. The hotel’s location is within easy walking distance to the shops in Thamel, in addition to having a lot good restaurants and cultural sites nearby. Our group was consistently impressed by the cleanliness and comfort of the rooms, the free breakfast, and the friendliness of the staff. With the changes we had to our trek schedule, we really appreciated Tulsi and his staff taking care of us. We will definitely stay here when make the return trip to tackle the Everest Base Camp trek again.

Maya Manor was earlier a governer's house apparently. And it does justice to its history. While the entrance is a bit constrained, the hotel itself is quite lovely. The overall decor of the hotel is top-class. Room - The room size is adequate (we had a triple bed setup). The washroom is also nicely done. We did not use the TV, so can't comment on what channels we get. Food - We only had breakfast here as we were always out for dinner. The breakfast buffet was alright, although we would have expected a little better spread. The quality of south india food was not upto the mark. The average quality of food in breakfast also discouraged us from having dinner. Location - Superb location. Its walking distance from Thamel which comes alive in the evening with loads of shops for eating, pubs and bars. It is also quite close to Kathmandu square (2.5 km)...so we had amazing fun on all evening, we went around walking to all these lovely place. Overall - the hotel is done really well. It has nice balconies and terraces which are decorated quite well. Overall, we had a great time at the hotel

Radisson Blu Hotel Kathmandu is not the best and most recent five-star hotel in the area. However, its location is good, it is close to Kathmandu Durbar Square and the main commercial street; the management experience is mature and the service attitude is good; the facilities are slightly old, but it is neat and tidy; breakfast and lunch and dinner buffets should be quite rich in the local area. I really liked this whole hotel complex. There’s a mini-mall / restaurant area next to it. Even if not staying there, go to eat and have drinks. There’s a lovely library upstairs, and it is a truly beautiful property amidst the chaos of the street. No noise distractions at all. The staff were so inviting and I was able to meet my tour guide there since he frequents the dining spots next door. There is just a natural feel of Nepal at these villas, for solo, friends, or couples. Many expat travelers in the city. I did a city tour with Bibi Funyal *************** who also works with Future Citizens Nepal. Even though he mainly does mountain treks, he knew all the places within this hotel area to best explore. I hope they collaborate a package for future travels. The staff was very accommodating to helping me understand the cash system, tips, drivers, etc. It rained while there, and this villa is a vacation in its own.

During my visit to Kathmandu I stayed in this hotel, the place is very well located in the center of the city but away from the noise, it’s easy to walk to the places you want to visit. The room and shared bathroom are comfortable and clean, every day you can see the cleaning staff doing their job. Every morning I practiced yoga on the roof. All the staff is friendly, I especially thank the Manager, Ashish, who helped me plan some routes and gave information, also to Binod Bhandari who is at the reception, always attentive, respectful and willing to answer questions. I recommend this hotel, it was my first visit to Kathmandu and I’m sure I will return in the future.
