This is supposed to be a five-star hotel, great location but the service was just so-so! There's only one all-day dining restaurant on the second floor. The towels were absolutely filthy, worse than what you'd find in a two-star hotel. They were discolored from white to gray and yet still provided to guests. Unacceptable... I can only give it two stars! The soundproofing in the room was also poor, and the facilities were worse than a three-star hotel back home. For a supposed five-star, I'm reluctantly giving it three stars.

This hotel is located in the Darmo area, within walking distance to Surabaya Zoo, and about a 10-minute taxi ride to the train station, Submarine Monument, and Plaza. There are plenty of restaurants and convenience stores within walking distance, making the location excellent and safe. I stayed here for three nights. The executive suite on the top floor offers great views, but the deluxe suite on the floor below would have been perfectly adequate. Both rooms are very spacious with two floor-to-ceiling windows. The breakfast buffet offers a wide variety of choices, enough to satisfy even a Chinese palate. A special thank you to the front desk staff for helping me find my wallet, which I had lost in the lobby!

Hotel is decent, not the new posh kind of hotel and it shows in some of its facilities in the room but the rooms are very big, service staff was very nice and helpful and spa was superb! As a female solo traveler it felt safe to stay at. Would recommend if you are not too picky about rooms and for the price it was good. Location was quite convenient too. The hotel staff was the one that helped me find tour guides for Sewu and Ijen.

The location is super strategic, right in the city center and close to everything. Public transport access is also nearby. I stayed there for 5 nights, and on one day, the room wasn't cleaned even though I had requested it at the front office. I'm a regular here; whenever I need a hotel in the city center, I always choose this one. There's a semi-indoor swimming pool and a mini-fridge in the room. The view from the upper floors is also beautiful.

I had a staycation for my husband's birthday and our 18th anniversary. I was so happy because all of my requests were granted, and the service was outstanding. Thank you, Vasa Hotel. We received both a birthday cake and an anniversary cake for free. It's rare for a hotel to fulfill customer requests like this. For the past two years, my birthday staycations at other 5-star hotels were a bust, I didn't get anything. This hotel is luxurious, clean, and all the staff are friendly. It truly deserves its 5 stars and is definitely worth returning to (mbaleniable).

Price is cheap and the value for money is amazing! The location makes everything super convenient — just a short walk to Tunjungan Plaza. Right downstairs there’s an Alfamart, and if you walk a little further you’ll find another 24-hour one. Across the street you’ll find Boncafe (their steak is really good!) and a 24-hour dim sum restaurant. The lobby is on the 3rd floor, but don’t worry — there’s always security at the ground entrance and they’re really friendly. Totally recommend!

I always stay here whenever I visit, but this time the experience was a bit disappointing. It has many positives, otherwise I wouldn't keep coming back to Surabaya and staying here. Let me talk about the negatives. I drove all the way from Bali, feeling a bit tired and unwell. I wanted to check my blood pressure, but when I asked at the front desk, they said they didn't have a blood pressure monitor. I believe a blood pressure monitor and some simple health check tools should be readily available. They're not large pieces of equipment, and it's essential for hotels to have some basic medical supplies for guests who feel unwell. This is just my personal suggestion. Also, during holidays or public festival days, the hotel's advantage of convenient transportation and being connected to a mall turns into a nightmare. You have to wait a long time for the elevator to get to the basement parking, and finding a parking spot becomes extremely difficult.

Suggest to have complimentary mineral water bottle than glass bottle in room.

Before I review I want to say all the staff were kind friendly and very helpful. If this review was about the staff you would have 100%. My problem is with the fabric of the hotel. It is dirty , shabby and living in the past. The first entertainment hotel in the city. Looking at it it was probably the last time it was refurbished. I feel that the staff put on a brave face and they are professional in their duties. Entering my room the sheets were grey had holes and stained. If you use an external laundry and hire your linen someone needs to change your contract!! Grey is not white. The walls are covered in hardboard and are dirty. Shower and toilet ok. Fire door did not self close. Hole in the wall where the self closer keeps hitting it. If this is a four star hotel it’s the staff who are keeping it there, a review though in my opinion would drop you to two stars at the best!! The owners need to reinvest!!

The hotel is strategically located, especially if you bring your own car. The rooms are large, the amenities are amazing, the facilities are great, such as a children swimming pool and a small infinity pool, a gym, a child playground, and a restaurant. The breakfast options are also great with a lot of variation. The cleanliness, however, can be further improved: one of the four pillow sheet is a bit dirty, and the AC can be further maintained as it is not as cool as we expect. The best thing, however, is the price as it is not that expensive, making this hotel a great value for money.

This is always our preferred hotel whenever we visit Surabaya. We love the unique jungle-like atmosphere in the middle of the city—it feels peaceful, relaxing, and is a wonderful escape from the busy surroundings. This hotel feels like one of the more upscale options in Surabaya. The garden is absolutely beautiful, attracting many visitors who come specifically to take photos, and it has a rich historical background. The mattress in the room was very comfortable. The only minor issue was that the sink in the bathroom drained a bit slowly, which seems to be a common problem in Surabaya. The breakfast was incredibly abundant; I'd recommend setting aside an hour to enjoy it. Plus, it's right next to a shopping center, making it perfect for some last-day travel browsing. The hotel's spa is about 250 RMB for a 60-minute session per person, but it's really relaxing. Just a heads-up, check-in is only available after 2 PM.

Extremely satisfied! First off, the hotel has excellent security measures. I was also very pleased with the kids' splash zone downstairs. The staff took great care of us; they immediately offered towels when they saw our child coming out of the pool, and there were complimentary drinks. Honestly, this is the cheapest and most comfortable hotel I've stayed at in Indonesia. Lastly, we decided to have some drinks at the hotel. Since we had already eaten dinner, we only ordered beverages, and the restaurant staff brought us several small dishes free of charge. I really wish you had a place like this on Bali's beaches!

I stayed here for 3 nights, and this is my honest review. The hotel has recently reopened after a complete renovation and rebranding. The staff were excellent. Everyone was friendly and welcoming. Check-in took about five minutes because the staff member assisting me seemed new and was carefully following the procedures. I didn’t mind at all, and I was served a delicious welcome drink while waiting. After check-in, a staff member escorted me to my room. Pros: 1. The rooms have been fully renovated and feel modern. 2. The bed was comfortable, the air conditioning worked perfectly, even at 26°C. 3. Breakfast exceeded my expectations. Everything I tried was delicious, especially the Indonesian dishes. What impressed me the most was that, even though the hotel was still very quiet and there were only a handful of guests during my stay, they still offered a full breakfast buffet with a wide variety of options. Many hotels would simply serve a limited set menu or deliver breakfast to the room when occupancy is this low, but this hotel maintained a complete buffet from end to end. I really have to give them credit for that. 4. The location is convenient, with Superindo and Indomaret within a 3-minute walk and Pakuwon Mall only about a 9-minute drive away. 5. The lobby is spacious and looks luxurious. Cons: 1. The TV was by far my biggest disappointment. I stayed in a Deluxe Room, and the TV appeared to be left over from the previous hotel rather than replaced during the renovation. It was very small, around 32 inches, and wasn’t a Smart TV, which feels completely out of place for a hotel that claims to be five-star. The selection of TV channels was also very limited, and the picture quality was poor with noticeable static, making it quite unpleasant during my 3-night stay. The Executive Rooms have larger TVs, but based on the information I received, they are not Smart TVs either because I was told that only the Suite Rooms will have Smart TVs, and those rooms will only become available after the hotel’s grand opening. You can even notice that the hotel doesn’t include any photos of the TV in the Deluxe Room images on its booking page, which almost makes it seem like they’re avoiding showing it. Nowadays, it’s hard to imagine a genuine five-star hotel still using a 32-inch non-Smart TV in its standard guest rooms. 2. Soundproofing isn’t great. I could hear noise from the next room and the nearby mosque. 3. The Wi-Fi was very slow, and mobile signal inside the hotel was also weak. 4. The shower area had no shelf or storage space for personal toiletries, and the floor was extremely slippery. I almost slipped several times while showering. This is something the hotel should address, as it could become a safety hazard. 5. The power outlet next to the bed was already occupied by the bedside lamp, so I had to unplug it every time I wanted to charge my phone. 6. Although there were plenty of power outlets in the room, about half of them didn’t work, which was frustrating. 7. I wasn’t a fan of the pillow and bed linens. While the bed itself was comfortable, the bedsheets felt rough rather than soft. I even noticed that the underside of my arms became itchy whenever they rubbed against the fabric. 8. The hotel was very quiet during my stay. It seems many people still don’t know it has reopened, and I haven’t seen much promotion or any soft opening offers on its website and Instagram account. Overall: I enjoyed my stay thanks to the friendly staff, comfortable room, excellent breakfast, and convenient location. However, the TV and Wi-Fi were major drawbacks, and there are still several details that don’t quite meet the standard of a true five-star hotel. At the moment, I would personally rate this hotel as 4.5 stars rather than a full 5-star property. It has great potential, and with improvements to the TVs, internet, room details, and overall quality control, I believe it could truly live up to its five-star positioning.

The room facilities are quite comprehensive and comfortable. Honestly, it was so comfy I dozed off a few times. It's perfect for a resort-style staycation, yet still in the city center. The breakfast menu is diverse and delicious. Overall, I think this hotel is worth it for a staycation in Surabaya!

Staying at this hotel in Surabaya was an excellent choice! It's brand new with fantastic facilities, and very luxurious, housed in a tall building. What truly stood out was how spotlessly clean the room was kept daily, and the staff were incredibly welcoming and spoke fluent English. I chose this hotel because I had heard it offers great views and is conveniently located near many attractions, including Tunjungan Plaza. However, despite booking a non-smoking room, I was informed upon arrival that only smoking rooms were available. Unfortunately, the cigarette smell throughout the corridor and inside the room was very strong and difficult to tolerate. I considered moving to another room, but since I was only staying for one night, I decided to stay. The staff offered to spray the room with air freshener, but it did not help much. I also tried to adjust the room temperature but could not find the AC remote. It think the hotel uses a central AC system, and the thermostat in the room was missing some buttons, which did not look good. On the positive side, the breakfast was great, with a lot of options, and the view was indeed very nice.

A hotel in an apartment building is a nice combination. Only after 10 years, it's been worn out or broken. The laminate flooring had been repaired with stickers. But the rooms were neat and clean! One major drawback: on the second floor, there's a karaoke bar that does NOT belong to the hotel. Heard the vibrations/noise from the bass speakers until 3:00 AM. Earplugs didn't help, and I'm not complaining either, since it's not owned by the same hotel. Tip for hotel owners: Buy that karaoke bar and make it something special!
