Because I wanted to see the little penguin 🐧, I had to stay in Omalu for one night and finally chose to punch in the first hotel on the list of this homestay. I really like the decoration style of the hotel, there are many Chinese elements in it, because the owner has stayed in different cities in China for more than 20 years. The most surprising thing is that I actually ate the only Chinese meal in the South Island Tour for breakfast. 😄👍

The landlord is very nice. When you check in with the key, you will receive a small bottle of milk~ This time I booked a cabin room, number 19. It was very nice. I felt like I had a small home in New Zealand~ Parking is available at the door, and each parking space is marked with a room number, one parking space for each family. The room facilities are a little bit old, the exhaust fan is a bit loud, the heater in the bedroom seems to be broken, and finally the heater in the living room is turned on. Since I was in a hurry, I didn’t take any photos. There are McDonald’s, KFC, etc. nearby. When you go out of the hotel and turn a corner, you will reach the main road of the town.

The homestay is on the hill in the center of Oamaru, overlooking the entire town and the Pacific Ocean in the distance. Unfortunately, the day we stayed was cloudy and we couldn't see the sunrise. 10 minutes drive from the Penguin Center. The cooking facilities in the house are particularly complete. At first glance, it is prepared for the Chinese. Not only have seasonings, but also rice cookers. This is not available in other hotels. If you prepare a large spoon, it will be 100 points.

Not a big flash house just a comfortable and cozy house for small family/group. Suit for 4 person with additional one person if you don’t mind sleep on the sofa bed in the living room. Free Wi-Fi, smart tv are available included prime video for the movie night. Fridge, oven, microwave, dishwasher, toaster, jug, washing machine and dryer (in the garage) are provided. So as cooking utensils, dinner plates and bowls, cutlery, coffee powder, sugar, tea, washing powder and towels as well. Facilities: All are quite complete, but the soundproofing is so bad that you can feel the cough next to your ear, and the bed is so soft that your waist will definitely ache the next day after sleeping on it. Hygiene: It is clean, but there will be a lot of bugs flying in as soon as the door is opened. This has nothing to do with the hotel. It is mainly because there are a lot of bugs in the local area, so it is barely 4.5. Environment: There was a Chinese group on the day of check-in. Most of the members were 50-year-old southern aunts and uncles, so please imagine the whole environment on the day. Service: I really thought it was a hotel with a bit of artistic atmosphere after seeing the name, so I placed an order, but it was actually a motel. When checking in, the fat ********* girl's *** and indifferent expression were also very disgusting. After checking in, the various Chinese signs in the room that were visible to the naked eye, saying what you are not allowed to do, and if you do it, you will be fined a certain amount of money, which is also very uncomfortable. I believe that many Chinese must have done various things to cause this, but after all, they are guests, and they don't owe you anything. You can remind the motel, but there is no need to warn them proactively.

My stay at Poshtel in Oamaru was excellent overall. The hotel is centrally located, within walking distance of the Victorian historic precinct, restaurants, and shops. It's also a convenient drive to the Blue Penguin Colony, making its location ideal. The hotel is a converted historic building, retaining a strong vintage feel while offering modern amenities. The room was clean and tidy, with unique and stylish decor. The bed was comfortable, and it was very quiet at night, allowing for a good night's rest. The staff were warm and friendly, and the check-in process was quick and smooth. They were also happy to provide local travel information. The common areas have an artistic ambiance, offering a distinct experience compared to typical chain hotels. Overall, I was satisfied with the location, environment, and service. It's a highly recommended accommodation choice for anyone visiting Oamaru. If I have the chance to revisit Oamaru, I would definitely stay here again.

The wooden house has creaky floors, so you need to walk lightly. There's no private bathroom; about two to three rooms share one shared bathroom (toilet and shower). The interior decor is charming and unique, clearly a lot of thought went into it. Check-in is via a code, which can be a hassle if you miss the email – I personally spent a long time trying to find it. The single bed is quite narrow, but that seems to be a common standard abroad.
