I was driving home after a flight back form Kansas. The Comfort Sites was full but they told me Sleep Inn had rooms. The front desk clerk could not have been more friendly. He was very kind and offered an extended checkout since I got in at about 2 AM. The room was very nice and a little smallish which is pretty typical of Sleep Inns (that is not a complaint). It was clean and very well prepared. I am glad to know this option is available in Gallup. One of the nicer motels in the city. I would highly recommend them!From$72

Everything looked nice, was very comfortable and I expected less to be honest. Check in was great. The breakfast was good-some hot dishes along with the offerings you expect to find. We stayed in a deluxe double. Not sure if the rooms are different. Room seemed recently renovated and was clean and adequate with a refrigerator and microwave. Security seemed adequate. Common facilities are dingy. Breakfast was a waffle machine and instant oatmeal. Breakfast ends at 9 am even on Sunday which is a little obnoxious for a hotel about 17 miles from a time zone change (people coming from AZ must not appreciate breakfast ending at 8 am on their body clocks). How much effort would it take to at least go to 10:00 am local time? Answer is probably a lot as more people would use it.From$60

We stayed in a 2 bedroom suite with sofa bed. Room is spacious and clean. I’ll address the obvious first. Gallup has a reputation for its high crime. This hotel is located on the east end of town away from homes and most businesses. There are 4 other hotels nearby plus a Dennys, bbq place and gas station. The location felt safe, security was not super obvious but they were patrolling. From my 3rd floor view I saw many pick up trucks with toolboxes and other items in the bed. 2 cars parked next to us had bikes in a bike rack. A few people had trailers with items strapped down. All in all it looked like a bunch of people doing what we were doing, just passing through. This hotel also only has 2 exterior doors you can access from the outside, the front lobby and one other door. All other exterior doors are locked from the outside. There is no where in America that is inherently safe, this place is no worse than anywhere else. Hot water was another frequent complaint about this hotel from others. We had 5 people and we all had hot water. Maybe it was a problem they fixed. I’m actually surprised at how low this hotel ranks on TA. I would absolutely stay there again.From$171

We had booked 2 double beds but the owner upgraded us to queens to keep us on ground floor. (We are 72&75, even though I don’t think we look it,it seems others can tell). The room had everything we needed & we slept well. This Super 8 had the best grab & go of any during our Covid travels: large yogurts, large apples, generous cinnamon rolls, Raisin Bran in bowls wrapped with a spoon, coffee & juice. The owner’s wife sanitized her hands then used gloves to hand us all I requested. Our only complaint was that the Raisin Bran had too many raisins!! She gave us both full cups of milk for our cereal. Frankly I prefer small as better without the glitz & high cost. This super 8 was a real bargain & exceptionally hospitable. From$50

It was very quiet considering we noticed at least 3 other rooms that had dogs on our floor. Alert: I was looking out the window and thought I saw an unleashed dog in the parking lot, but it was a coyote. All staff were kind and professional. Everything worked in our room. The beds were comfy. Breakfast was good.

|2.06km from city centerThis is an older 50’s era one story motel. While it looks kind of drab from the outside, rooms were clean and recently remodeled. Towels looked new. There is no coffee in the room or office. I couldn’t get the tv to work, but there is strong internet, so I watched Netflix and Roku on my device which I prefer anyway. Breakfast bags are available in the morning consisting of Raisin Bran cereal, raisin bread, and milk. Rates are reasonable and staff polite. I was only looking for some evening rest while going through town on my way to California, and this served my purpose.
