We selected the hotel because for a little more than the price of a bunk bed in a hostel in sankt pauli you get a private room with a shower. The location is on walking distance from the central station, but in an area with sex shops ************ and strange bars. During the day it looks like banlieu, but around midnight its was relatively quit. The rooms were not cleaned throughly. There was dust on the lamps, some spiderweb in the cupboard and rubbish under the bed. But the beds itself look clean. There is some moist in the shower since there was no ventitalation, but it looks clean for the rest. Staff is not super friendly, but ok. This is a good place if you don't want to stay in a hostel, but just need a place to stay the night.

Stayed here more than 3 times, and had very consistent experiences. Staff is friendly, but quiet. Rooms are simply just beds and a small desk, but this is sort of hotel you book if you just need a place to sleep. The area is known for its gay cruising sites and mixed population, and I would not stay here with kids. The price you pay compared to the quiet but very central location, is very fair, but cleanliness could be better. A good place for the money - but think of it more as ”a bed”, than a room you would like live in.

We love everything about the Fontenay! It is like being on a private, modern yacht & you never want to disembark! All the rooms are very clean, comfortable & spacious. Concierge desk goes the extra mile to get you want you need - from event tickets to elaborate international shipping of my suitcase. LOVE the breakfast & the outdoor seating is gorgeous with the view and light from the Alster. LOVE the pool & outdoor sunning terrace. Be great if more outdoor lounge chairs could be added. LOVE the big sauna & view of the city & steam room. Excellent manicure at Spa. Excellent food & drink on rooftop terrace. Front Desk followed through on giving us the Amex Centurion Card ”early check-in based upon availability” which makes a HUGE difference. Love to get an upgrade ”based upon availability” next time as well as we will be back soon!

Upon arrival, we were greeted by a bellman who wasn’t particularly friendly. Upon entering the lobby, it was confusing to check in. The check-ins are done by one of four people sitting at separate desks that were not approachable. All were on the phone and wouldn’t look up. Finally somebody from the concierge area assured us we would be waited on which still took a few minutes to happen. Once we had our room, our view, which we assumed was of the lake, was of the roofs of nearby buildings. Their website was a bit misleading in this regard. When the word “view” is used by a hotel located on the water, you assume it’s of the lake. Not here. The rooms are very nice and the finishes of the hotel are top notch. I love soaking in a tub after travel but apparently the only rooms that have them are +€400 more per night. I find it unusual, particularly in Europe. If the staff were more interested in the guests, this hotel would be four stars. A five star hotel has bathtubs and represents its views as either garden, city or water views. The Fontenay falls short on this aspect.

As you walk into the very modern colorful converted lobby you are truly taken by it’s beauty. The front desk staff were extremely welcoming and helpful. They helped us right away by telling us we’re to get a free Covid-19 test. Very fun modern room on the top floor, with lots of big windows. Room was spotless, looks like a brand new addition to the building. The amenities in the room were superb, crystal glasses, Molton Brown soaps, full bottles of water, fabulous cappuccino machine, and a fully stocked mini-bar. Breakfast in a restaurant that will take your breath away. Imposing place with a combination of modern with the original historic structure showcasing. Lots of choices to eat and another great friendly staff. Outstanding location, with tons of bars and restaurants in every single direction. Train station is just 2 blocks away. I have traveled extremely and stayed in plenty of hotels, this one is an incredible place to stay in. As for a room facing the back of the hotel, beautiful gardens to look at.

If you spend the night in this city, it's a great hotel. The location is very good, the surroundings are very quiet, and there are very good restaurants nearby. If you had stayed here, you would not have chosen another hotel.

The location is good and the service staff are very friendly. During the epidemic, all services except the room were gone. There are some minor flaws in the facilities, and the coffee machine and hair dryer are not very comfortable to use.

The hotel environment and location are good, the decoration is elegant and noble, the price ratio is high, and the service level is OK. I have stayed twice and will stay at this hotel next time I visit Hamburg.

We had booked an Elbphilharmonie Suite, which turned out to be a gorgeous light room with three ceiling to floor windows overlooking the harbour and the city. It had a huge comfortable bed with perfect (for me) pillows, a desk, lots of chairs and sofas, a fridge, kettle and mugs. The bathroom had another ceiling to floor window and a bath, separate shower and separate wc. There were some really nice touches such as mirrors on the ceiling of the top shelves, so that you could see what was on them, small windows that opened and hooks by the front door (though none in the bathroom!). There were no USBs but plenty of sockets. The A/C was easy to set and worked quite well, but we kept the curtains drawn during the morning when the sun was directly on the room. Turndown offered more interesting ideas such as sunscreen (which was brilliant and useful), foot cream and Mentos as well as a chocolate on the last night. We had breakfast in the hotel on first and last mornings: excellent hot and cold buffet with bacon, fried and scrambled eggs, mushrooms, beans, sausages and potatoes as well as loads of pasties and other options. We also used the Blick Bar, which had very good service. We had beers and potato crisps as well as good cocktails and mocktails: it is quite expensive though.

Nice 2 night visit to Hamburg. Have been here before so very familiar with numerous Hamburg Hotels. Ratings: Suite: 4.75/5 the negative was no temperature control by thermostat Fruhstuck: 4.75/5 has really improved a lot Club: 4.75/5 pleasant place to relax. Food has improved. Upkeep: 3.5/5 rooms are starting to age it is noticeable around the edges of tile etc as starting to look 👀 worn. QC could be improved in this respect. the Doctor Hit me with some BIG LOVE ❤️💕 and a helpful VOTE! Written 8.7.2022 by the Doc! “Happiness is being with the people you like”

Running the Hamburg Marathon, the hotel has set a starting point. I didn’t expect it to be so close. Going out the road is the starting area. God, it’s 50 meters. It’s raining on the race day. It’s half an hour before the start, it’s warm and warm, and it’s so happy! The room was very small, but the window was facing the outside scenery, so it was still very comfortable. The windows are particularly interesting. Turn the handles in different directions, either horizontally or vertically, for easy ventilation. The most wonderful thing is the shower in the bathroom, three modes, just running the marathon calf, rudely rushed to the leg for 15 minutes, the next day the legs are not sore. On the first floor of the small restaurant, the food is huge. I ordered a burger, thinking that I would not eat enough, and ordered a salad with French fries. The next person whispered that she must come to run the marathon. You can see that she can eat. So many... As a result, I packed it back to the house and ate it for three meals before I finished it! In short, if you run the Hamburg Marathon, it is awesome here. Walking to various attractions is not too far away. I punched seven churches and a sporting goods store the next day. By the way, it rains every morning, and it starts to dry again at noon. It is a bit cold in the evening, very strange.

Yes, all the hotels booked by the company at this exhibition are very close and save a lot of time~~~~~~~~~~~ The reservation order processing is not flexible enough. It is clear that you will book a long time in advance, and you want to cancel what you don’t need for a day. He refused, and booked more than 20 rooms, which is too rigid!

Stayed there three nights earlier this week. Nice central location, clean and spacious room, good food, friendly reception people, but..... In short, when reserving online, I wrote just one thing in the 'special requests' section, and that was ”As quiet a room as possible please.” I suppose the best and most truthful possible answer to this would have been, ”Sorry, that just won't be possible at the moment because there is loud construction noise all day long, starting at 7 a.m.. We have reserved a room for you at the nearby Marriott instead.” That is of course not what happened. This situation may of course not be entirely the case for every single room. A receptionist told us there were three separate construction projects happening and each affected a different part of the hotel. (None are in the hotel itself.) We had room 524, which is next to a fire escape stairway. I suspect the construction in question was below the bottom of the stairway as the noise seemed to come mainly from there. On Monday morning the jackhammers started at 8 a.m., On Tuesday they started at 7:30 and on Wednesday at 7 a.m. Yesterday (Wednesday), we came back in the middle of the day, hoping for a short nap as the workers took their lunch break, which they did at 12:15. No luck. The hotel ran a pre-announced test of the fire alarm on our floor at 12:35. It rang 8 times. The construction work restarted just after 1 p.m. I measured it at a constant 50 dB using an app on my phone. I feel quite strongly that the rooms in the areas most affected by the construction noise should not be on sale at all. If not, there should be a warning on the website that it will be noisy, advising prospective guests that they should really choose somewhere else for the time being. Yes, I realize that would be a tough decision, but you are putting your reputation on the line at the moment, and the current message seems to be that you don't care.

We stayed at Hotel Renaissance for one night as a stopover. We have stayed at this Hotel +15 times and we keep returning because of the location in the center of Hamburg and because dogs are allowed. But it feels like something has changed… Late night I got a soda from the self-service minibar next to the reception and asked them to put the 2,5€ drink on the room. This wasn’t possible since he couldn’t see my credit card in the system. I told him that the room was payed and booked through my Marriot Membership. I suggested to pay with my iPhone, this was not possible! I asked if he really wanted me to go up to the fifth floor for a credit card instead of just trusting a loyal Marriot Member. Finally, he accepted putting the 2,5€ on the room – never tried anything like this before! It’s a 5-star hotel and you end up in a room with a defect blinking lamp – I ended up un-plugging it. We did bring a small dog and it’s great that dogs are allowed. You pay a quite expensive fee for the dog, I assume it’s for extra cleaning, but it’s disappointing that you get a room that’s not properly cleaned since dust was hanging from the ceiling.
