Bar server if you can call him that. Paolo. Total chip on his shoulder ruined our Christmas Day after a lovely dinner at Snetonstube. We thought we would have a lovely after dinner drink for Christmas. So many many lovely spots in Ortisei like Gardena Grodnerhof and Sotriffer and wine bar and costa mula! Don’t go there and spend your money Paolo obviously hates America and Americans. Sad. Paolo is rude and sad And god forbid you show up in the bar from Another hotel he will make it known you are NOT welcome. He chastised us for sitting down and for serving us free Prosecco even though we said we would pay for it. It was a managers reception and we did not know that walking in. Unwelcoming and don’t go into this hotel if you are not a hotel guests. The bar was empty and he literally told us “YOU ARE NOT HOTEL guests here. My New York City travel agent will love this feedback. Paolo is doing this hotel a complete disgrace disservice.

Very convenient, there are 3 cable car lines around to go to the mountain, including the cable car line to the Suxi Plateau to stay at the hotel for free, the hotel spa is OK, other environments are good for vacation

First some context: I have been fortunate enough to be able to stay at some of the finest properties around the world so I compare La Majun to these properties(Ritz Carlton, Four Seasons, The Savoy, Claridges, etc). I started to plan this vacation back in 2019 for a 2020 visi5. After much research, our family settled on La Majun. Natalie and Maura were always very responsive to my many emails. The trip was Covid delayed until this week. I base my ratings on 5 categories(scale of 1-5, 5 being the top): Cleanliness, accuracy of website, responsiveness of communication, dining experience and overall guest interaction: Cleanliness: 5 The rooms were cleaned everyday and nothing was ever missed. The spa was also incredibly clean (We tried everything - Sauna, steam room, pool, quiet room, and soaking tub). Towels were big and fluffy. Accuracy of website: 5 The pictures on the website were accurate depictions of the room and the views. Responsiveness of communication: 5 Obviously, I had a lot of questions over the last three years of planning. Every email was answered and every request was executed. At times, a few days would go by without a response but I knew eventually, a reply would be offered. This was mostly during their off season. Natalie and Maura did NOT miss ONE email. Dining experience: 5 We opted for the ”half board”. The food was well presented, of high quality and delicious. Several offerings for breakfast (try the make your own juicer)and dinner was always presented with a fish, meat and vegetarian offering. Service was top notch (thank you to Melina and Ale) Overall guest interaction: 500! Natalie and her Mom Roberta fully understand what it takes to make guests people feel welcome. I asked Natalie how she manages to train her staff and she told me that she tells every staff member the following: ”Treat each guest as if they were your closest friend coming for a visit in your own home.” EVERY member of the staff did just that! Each morning, we looked forward to seeing Melina and her warm ”good morning.” Each afternoon, Natalie always spoke to us to make sure we were enjoying ourselves. A special call out to the other staff who made us feel so welcome: Sacha (bell person - who hugged me goodbye!) Barbara(bar tender - could not have been more pleasant) Ale (waitress-her smile greeted us everyday) Anna (front office - so helpful) Melina (our waitress - so personable and so welcoming) Roberta(Owner): Such a beautiful woman in her soul. And finally Natalie(Owner): Words cannot express how each member of our family feels about Natalie. We love her! She does a flawless job on execution and is genuinely warm in her approach. She is the model as to how every hotel should be run. It is my hope that this review encourages every reader considering a trip to this region to stop looking at reviews and to just book here. Finally, every member of the staff hugged us goodbye. That should tell you a lot!

Pros: - Friendly staff - New area of the spa is great - Great food Cons: - Near a busy road so lots of road noise - Felt the hotel advertising is very misleading. It only shows photos of modern, recently refurbished parts of the hotel when in the reality half of the hotel has not been refurbished and feels quite old school. Non refurbed rooms (like ours) are very drab and dated and lots of the hotel feels like that too. It feels very much like a hotel of two halves (e.g one nice modern dining room, one old one), and that’s not made clear online. - Odd seating arrangements at dinner / breakfast. Each room seems to be assigned a table and you are only allowed to sit there. We were given a bad table and were not allowed to move at dinner to a nicer table next to it even though no one else was eating there as “someone else has that table for breakfast”. Seems like a very odd and unnecessary policy which isn’t very customer centric - No recognition at all of the fact it was our honeymoon despite telling them when we booked - Tips on what to do nearby nowhere near as good or helpful as at our last hotel. Apparently the hotel offers and excursion everyday but no one told us about that when we checked in so we weren’t able to take advantage of it Overall, lots of good things but we were disappointed and felt mislead. Definitely didn’t live up to expectations

The Hotel is nice and staff mostly friendly and attentive. However, attention to detail and quality is missing for the money you pay. I think it’s a management issue. Most rooms don’t have air-condition so it can be quite hot at night. We are in a Junior Suite and you would expect an aircon when paying almost €400 a night. The bed seems older and sinks in on the side. What I do not understand for a 4*S Hotel is the fact that the minibar is empty. You have to shop your drinks yourself. No coffee machine in the room. Iron and Iron-board we had to order at reception. Breakfast is very nice, but we got half-board and dinner has been pretty ordinary each night. We ordered cake twice. The Apfelstrudel was the worst I had in my life. The Marmorkuchen the next day was hard and dry. Staff is friendly, helpful but they don’t give you the feeling “we love you to come back next time”. They do what they have to do and you can’t complain but there is something missing. The pool area is nice but you don’t get any service. They could set up an outdoor bar and a coffee machine for people to help themselves. That would work. Towels you have to bring from your room. It is a shame and I thought I give 3 points in my review. But I give 4 points because the Junior Boss is such a nice guy, super friendly, attentive and helpful. With him in Service things look up. I hope the hotel can fix the few things we addressed with a bit more attention to detail, the Hotel could easily get a 5* rating. For the price you pay, we expect the little extra service and attention to detail. The Junior Chef is showing he is willing to go the extra mile which is lovely to see.

Flawless from booking through reception to departure. The restaurant is due a Michelin star or two for the quality of the food and service. Every member of staff impressed through their professionalism and friendliness If we are anywhere nearby in future we will stay here and stay longer to make more use of the outside heated pool and the programme of walks.
