"We arrived early morning to be greeted by Dimitar at the front desk, a matter-of-fact kind of guy but super efficient. He got us settled in in no time! Every morning we had the pleasure of greeting Boyan, the Restaurant Manager. Not only was he friendly and engaging, but he went out of his way to source gluten free bread due to someone in our party having a gluten allergy. His team, despite struggling to speak English, never shied away from helping out and keeping our table clean. He is a true credit to the establishment. Sabina & Nikoleta, were super pleasant and efficiently helped us with all our questions and requests, especially facilitating a late check out and arranging cleaning accordingly. Mariyan, is a spritely fellow, loaded with local knowledge which he graciously shared as he drove us around town. He always wore a smile and can-do attitude. We stayed in a one bedroom apartment which was more than adequate for our needs. It was warm and comfortable and the daily house service was impeccable. I forgot our house cleaner's name but she deservers equal praise for making our apartment liveable everyday. The hotel is about 1.3 km from the ski lift gondola. Shuttles leaves ever 10-20 minutes on average. There was always space for people and ski gear. The afternoon shuttle back to the hotel was easy to find after a long day of skiing. The Hotel has a mini market. This did not necessarily address our self-catering needs. But it was good for emergencies. Shopping felt most cost effective at Happy Supermarket (a short walk from the Gondola) and then at Aldo, again in the same area. Vegetarians will struggle to find a wide variety of vegetables and the little they have is costly. The hotel boasts a heated indoor pool that never felt crowed, even during the half term holidays. There's also a hot tube which is a favourite for aching skiing muscles. This tub can get crowded. The steam and dry saunas were fun! The Spa treatments were great too. The kids are insisting we book the same hotel and same room again. That says a lot for the experience they've had..."
"Honestly I was a bit skeptic after booking this hotel. I booked last minute during peak season for a weekend trip, I didn't really have much options for a decent hotel with decent prices. I was skeptic after seeing some photo's online. The pictures to me looked as if the hotel was old and the rooms run down, but now I understand that this was mainly not so good photo's and camera angles. I must say that our room was very nice. We booked a room in the annex building, the room was very clean and to my surprise the room was not run down, just a normal one bedroom apartment. The furniture is not new but it has been kept in good condition. We booked the breakfast and dinner option, here too I was skeptic about buffet dinners at hotels in the Balkans as usually the options are just OK. But here there were many options for all meals and I can say that the food was good. I can give the food a 8/10. As we were travelling with kids, I was very impressed that there was a play center with a person to look after the kids whilst the parents would get a coffee or drink in the lobby bar. Pool was great, water was nice temperature. I was expecting colder water as in other places in Bansko, but here it was nice. Only down part is the min. depth of the pool is 1.50 and that there is no children's indoor pool. Its a bit of a pain when the children cant fully swim. But in general nice. Steam room, jacuzzi etc we nice and amenities were clean. In general the hotel was clean and up to standards. One down part is the game facilities, pool table, uno cards etc etc, you had to pay for to use, which I found was a bit over the top to charge additionally, but thats just my opinion"
"We came here on a skiing trip and had breakfast only, the only problem with the breakfast was that the heaters which kept the food hot, kept turning off so the food was cold, the food was alright. But the rooms were brilliant, beds were comfortable and the staff were really nice. The good thing was they had a swimming pool which we tried and a spa where you could massages after skiing, also they have a mini market in the hotel as well which was great. The restaurants in the surrounding area have the same sort of food. I really recommend the house restaurant and the restaurant called ginger, had live music and stuff. Apart from the cold food the hotel was great."

Pirin Golf Resort, Razlog, Blagoevgrad, Bulgaria
"The hotel itself is quite beautiful, but it lacks some serious issues to justify its star status. Firstly, the wifi was terrible, practically nonexistent in our room, so if you have an online job to do just pick another hotel. The pool area (outside of the pool) wasn’t warm enough so both our children came home with high temperature. The restaurants which were not included in our stay weren’t working so we were down to just one place, the queen’s pub (50m outside the main entrance) and thankfully the food there was pretty decent so we were settled. In their pamphlets they claim to have asian restaurant as well as an italian one in the hotel, but none of those actually work. Maybe it’s better during the summer, so overall experience was decent, although not as previously expected. "
"We arrived at the resort on Tuesday night at about 9.30pm. We went to reception to check in. The person on duty at the desk did not know what we meant by check in. The person was not able to answer any of our questions about how to get our access card or any other information. The man behind the desk did not fully understand us (in english) and kept trying to call his manger who never picked up. Not being checked in we were told to come back in the morning and we were then taken by security to our villa to meet our friends. When we did come back in the morning there was a lady behind the desk who was just as clueless about checking us in. We had our booking document and passports with us and we just got stared at. What is so complex about your check in system that none of your front desk staff know how to do it? Finally, after asking how do we get our breakfast which was included in our booking, the lady gave us one card to access the villa and go and get breakfast. She still did not understand what we meant by checking in. Also, why did she only give us one card? It was highly inconvenient when my husband and I wanted to come and go at our own times. We were told by staff that the breakfast at the club house would be open from 7am. Every morning at 7am we went to the club house and breakfast was not out yet. The staff were still busy putting on their aprons. We had to sit and wait an extra 30 minutes every morning for breakfast to be served while the staff glared at us and made us feel very unwelcome. Why do you tell your guests that breakfast will be ready at 7am when it is only ready after 7.30am? It is a huge inconvenience and the staff at the club house made us feel very uncomfortable. Because of this we had to get the later shuttle into Bansko. In our booking we also received free ski equipment. When we went to the sports centre the man behind the desk told us immediately that it is not included in our booking. We showed him our green villa card and our Bulgaria holiday booking document where it clearly says ski equipment hire is included. He did not look impressed and reluctantly gave us boots and skis. The man was grumpy, unhelpful with fitting my boots and did not speak any english to us. When we asked about helmets he said he doesn’t do helmets. But this is a lie. Because he gave helmets to my friends who arrived the day before. My husband also asked if he could take a snowboard instead of skis. The guy once again told us that he does not have snowboards. Again, this is a lie because we saw snowboards right in front of us. Yet he was adamant he didn’t have. Why is it necessary for the guy at the sports centre to lie to us like this? So we ended up paying an additional £40 to hire helmets in Bansko. Also included in our booking was use of the spa facilities and the gym. When we went there one evening to use the sauna we were told we have to pay. Again, we had to show them our booking and what is included. Why do your staff not "
"It was 18th of october night 2019 we have reserved for one night with my husband and my son, hotel’s view is great but stuff is terrible,im saying that because when we went to bed after a long day walk we slept at 23pm and at 1am my 2years old sun smelled the smog an woked up crying that moment our balcony was all on fire and our room full of smog,we woke up immediatly and get out the room,i suppressed the alarm of fire but all outdoors were closed noone for a long time didn’t respond to help us,with a lot of attempts to get outside we were shocked how 5star hotel and noone wasn’t at the reception and noone didn’t helped us after 30minutes came the firework and all of turists couldn’t believe how it happened,my baby was crying all the time but the stuff and the menager of the hotel they didn’t even ask if we are good or if we need water??? I cant believe what king of people were??"

"I had heard amazing things about this hotel and I must say staying there felt as if I was at the wrong place. Personnel was very polite, helpful and nice. Room was relatively clean and so were the common areas. By no means can I say it was impeccably clean though. The interior desperately needs renovation if the hotel wants to live up to its customers expectations. Furniture, walls, sockets and switches are worn out and simply don’t give the feeling of a cozy 5-star mountain hotel as they should. Beds are rather basic and not very comfortable. I did overhear other people discussing that over breakfast as well. Restaurants’ furniture can also use some renovation and definitely more natural fabrics for the table cloths. Valet parking was a nice touch. Hope next time in the area I see an improvement. "
"We love this place! Outstanding hotel , very tasty and rich breakfast, everyone is polite and friendly. The view is amazing and we will definitely recommend this place ! We kindly asked to have a late checkout and the reception assist with that too. Thank you everyone for the excellent service."
"I highly recommend this hotel. Great service, great room and the spa area is incredible 🤩😁 Breakfast is good, a lot of options. Not many restaurants are working at that time of the year, so take it into consideration"

"Bansko Castle Lodge Villas is a newly built complex in the typical style of Bansko, located in the Saint Ivan area, boasting Pirin and Rila Mountain views. The ski lift is about 600 metres from the Castle Lodge Villas. On the lower floor of the villas there is a fully equipped kitchen and the living room, while the bedrooms are on the top floor. Castle Lodge Villas can provide catering services upon request."

Kosherinata Area, Bansko, Blagoevgrad, Bulgaria
"Stayed with party of 8 family and friends in a short ski trip. Hotel is about 15 walk from town centre but there is a shuttle bus which is helpful. For skiing the hotel is well located only if the resort run is open which for our trip was not. The shuttle bus runs to the main lift station so this is fine although it would be good if the Shuttle ran to the upper station when the resort runs are closed. The hotel itself is very nice, clean and the staff are all friendly. The breakfast is ok buffet standard but we were not allowed to take coffee out of the breakfast room which seems a little petty. We had pizzas in the bar one night which were delicious but didn’t eat in the hotel other than that. The best part of the hotel is the spa which has excellent value treatments, a superb pool and a variety of sauna and steam rooms. Overall a great time and experience at this hotel."
"This is good place for short vacation. Rooms are big and clean. The downside is that we did not had hairdryer in the room, and we could smell cigarette smoke in bathroom, probably air vantilation. We had great time in their spa. They have Finnish, aroma and steam bath. Pool is a bit smoller that I would like, and it is shallow, max depth 1.4m. Food there is amazing, with lots of sweet and salty dishes. Good value for your money."
"On the plus side - the hotel is definitely good value for money. There is a wonderful kid's room. The saunas are great. Wonderful view. Breakfast is Ok. However, maintenance is lacking, the room we stayed in seemed to be falling apart. The sofa bed kept folding, the water flow in the shower was terrible. The pool areas are not well ventilated. Location is very isolated, and far from the city. Probably very difficult to get by without a car."

"There is no hot water bathing, no slippers and toothbrushes. The hotel staff are unlocking the room when we are not there. I feel that our stuff has been turned over and the order is written on 61 euros and two rooms to the store to pay 65 euros when swimming. The clothes locked in their cabinets can also be opened and stolen by 200 euros."

7, Georgi Nastev Street, Bansko, Blagoevgrad, Bulgaria
"On the plus side - lovely hotel with great spa facilities - very relaxing after a day on the slopes. We had a huge room, right at the top, with good views to the Pirin/ski area, as well as the other way to the Rila mountains, and an indoor 'balcony' (a raised seating area/lookout point), which was a perfect place to admire the view, whilst keeping warm. The only thing that would have improved the room would be the provision of tea- & coffee-making facilities in the rooms, which I would expect from a 4* hotel. Hotel in a good location, 5-10 mins walk from the ski lift, 20-25 mins walk to the old town. On the minus side - The only thing which let the hotel's 4* rating down was the food. There was not much variety with the suppers from night to night - the same type of salad (tomatoes, cucumber, olives, feta-style cheese, onions), followed by some pieces of chicken / pork / fish, sometimes a bit leathery having been out for an hour or two keeping warm - with little for vegetarians apart from cheese /egg / the vegetables that accompanied the meat & fish. Puddings were a little reminiscent of the 1970s... And as for the chicken schnitzel on our first night, it bore no resemblance to chicken in shape, texture, colour or taste, and was quite the worst thing I have tasted for many years. I couldn't eat it. We ended up on several nights walking down to the old town to eat in the many mekhanas (taverns) which had good food and more atmosphere. I recommend not going half-board here. However, the buffet breakfasts were fine, plenty for hungry skiiers, and a reasonable choice. Another minus was that the TV in the dining area was always on 'Box TV' with music videos. I'm no prude but considered these videos, which almost all involved very scantily clad girls in provocative poses, to be quite sexist and offensive to watch, particularly while having breakfast, and inappropriate for a family hotel."
"We stayed for a week in Jan 2020 to go skiing in Bansko which was lovely. There are lots of nice things about this hotel but firstly dont go half board as the food is really bad, and I mean really bad. The breakfast is what you would expect but it's the evening meals which are the main problem. The meat is the cheapest and driest with minced chicken pieces, they don't have the hot plates turned on so everything is cold and dry, cold rice overcooked and left out, cold half cooked potatoes, no tea or coffee with evening meal etc etc. after a couple of days we started to go out for meals as it was just awful. Local bars and restaurants have some really lovely food, we went to Gingers Restaurant a few times and it was excellent. There is a restaurant attached to the hotel which is open to the public, when there aren't enough guests for hotel dinner they let you have a meal in the restaurant BUT you don't get restaurant food off the menu you get the same awful stuff as in the hotel that you pick off a 'hotel guest' list, I've never seen anything like it. We sent back our dry un-eaten chicken and they didn't even ask why as I'm sure they are well aware how bad it is. Really poor and disappointing for what was meant to be 4 star. The location of the hotel is great as it's about ten mins walk to the gondola station and far enough from the main bars to be quiet when you get back after skiing. We were given a twin bed room but wanted a double, The beds are very comfortable though. There are no tea or coffee making facilities in the room. The spa facilities are really nice, sauna, warm swimming pool, steam room, russian steam room, hot hydropool. We went for an hour most evenings and it was very relaxing after skiing. The hotel itself is very pretty with great views of the mountains. So I would recommend going but without the food option. And take a travel kettle if you like a morning cup of tea. This hotel is a bit old fashioned for what Bansko has become as it is now more like Marmaris in Turkey or Ayia Napa, attracting lots of young snowboarders. Every bar and restaurant you walk past staff are outside harassing you to go in which gets a bit much if you are just going for a walk. We did have a great time skiing, good job they have the snow making cannons on the mountain though as there had been no snow fall for a month and conditions were quite icy. It was advertised as good for beginners but there are some very steep areas on the blue runs, and snowboarders stopping and falling all over the place so you have to dodge them. The ski instructors are great, I had a 2 hour private lesson from Ulen ski school and felt much more confident after."
"The hotel is obviously past it's heyday and being run on a shoestring at the moment. Having said that, the spa area consisting of fairly large pool, multi massage Jacuzzi, two saunas and a steam room was excellent, all working and clean. The location is good, a 10-15 minute near flat walk to the main gondola. Our room had a great view of the ski mountain, however the walls were paper thin and adjoining the games room could hear every shot on the pool table until gone midnight every night. The room became very dusty by the end of the week, so much so that we could write in it in front of the TV, not a hard place to clean by any means. The bathroom was not cleaned all week. Towels were only changed once, on the last day, even after leaving in the bath a few times, according to Balkan Holidays book at reception this alone actually makes the hotel a 2* The main disappointment was the "Lobby Bar" which was permanently closed for the duration of our stay! New Year's eve was a disaster, we arrived back at the hotel for our half-board meal to find the buffet restaurant closed. It turned out the expectation was that we book new years eve dinner in the main restaurant, however this was never mentioned to us at any point. They had to give us something, so sat us with what could have been the owner and their teenage children and served us inedible food which was more salt than anything else. All other guests had seemingly booked their tables, and I don't think it was a coincidence that we were the only British in the hotel either. All other days the breakfast and basic buffet dinner were good, although don't sit right at the back of the restaurant as you will be put off by the pot-wash eating scraps from plates as they go through the hatch! Have no problem with that if she's hard up for a few pounds but not in full view please!! We will definitely be back to Bansko, but not to this hotel."

"Three of us stayed at the gardenia for 5 nights. Very good first impression, welcoming staff at reception and nice communal area. Rooms are comfortable and have most things you will require on holiday. Decent hairdryer in the bathroom, basic supply of toiletries, mini bar etc if required and plenty of plug sockets in the room. I had a room with a high window and no view, but i didnt spend that much time in the room so it wasnt an issue for me. Breakfast was fab, good selection and constantly topped up. I would definetly stay at this hotel again and recommend it too. The one disappointing thing was that we had 2 double rooms.. one was for a couple and one for a single person. Both bed and breakfast. The room rate for the single person for the stay was more expensive than the room rate for the couple. Reception informed us that was hotel policy. Maybe policy but definetly seemed unfair for one person to pay more for b and b and the exact same room as two people were sharing and having b and b for less! Makes no sense. Apart from that staff were lovely and good hotel"
"We booked on October 18 a family room, 4 persons. Really, I did not expect a place suitable for families. It combines the right price with a full service.Food, pool, persons, cleaness etc just a relax environment"
"The hotel is of average class. Rooms are spacious, bed lunen are clean but pillows are awful in all rooms and we all slept without them during our whole stay. Lobby bar is spacious, clean. Restaurant however offers very few dishes. Breakfast and dinner is Ok, but food is not of a good quality. There is an indoor pool but is rather small. Sauna and steam bath are Ok. Parking in front of the hotel is paid - 7 BGN per day."

"I have just arrived back from Bansko today after our annual trip with the lads. I also stayed in the Kasa Karina in February with my family. This hotel couldn't do enough for us on both occasions especially this last week when the local government have locked down the area . Most if not all the hotel's were closing leaving guests without anywhere to stay or eat. The Kasa Karina stayed open , fed us daily and kept us updated throughout. The hotel is clean and tidy and the food is good. The staff are friendly too. Will definitely be going back next year. "
"I have stayed twice this year and couldn’t recommend the place enough. The spa/pool and massages are brilliant, the food is good, the hotel is very clean and most importantly the staff go above and beyond in all instances. Especially during the recent lock down issued by local authorities. I will definitely be back next year, thumbs up all round"
"It was not the best Hotel on the Trip, but it was clean, with big Rooms, nice Food, clean and relatively quiet. The rooms were clean but in some of them have bin smoked, that was not so nice, but the Bed were comfortable and the bathroom clean. The restaurant was very good it was Food of every kind of request and drinks for Diner so far and for the Breakfast. The Pool was open in the open area at the backyard but we didn't use it."
