Reviews From Real Travelers
There are not enough adjectives in my vocabulary to describe Les Sources de Caudalie: Wow, Amazing, Phenomenal… It is a member of the Small Luxury Hotels of the World. Nestled in the heart of the Bordeaux countryside, surrounded by acres and acres of vineyards, you will find Les Sources De Caudalie. From any view on the property, you will be able to view the rolling hills full of rows of grape vines. To the south you will have white grapes, and to the north, red. The resort ‘s structure is a combination of wood and stone. The architecture and design is that of an old farmhouse chateau with rustic buildings and manicured gardens. A pond sits in the heart of the resort full of wildlife. Amenities include their 3 restaurants. We had the opportunity to eat at all 3 of their restaurants and they were all very good. You can enjoy an indoor and outdoor pool. Next to the resort is their amazing Spa building, and the famous winery Chateau Smith Haut Lafitte. They also have 2 bars and several cozy sitting areas throughout the property. Bicycles are provided for free. Riding the backroads of the vineyards is an experience in itself. In addition, they have a forest nearby that has a nature/sculpture trail. The walk is about a good hour. With respect to the rooms, they are cozy, comfortably updated, and very nicely decorated. Our room was on the ground floor. It had a table with two chairs in the terrace which offered wonderful opportunities to frequently sit to relax mornings and evenings before dinner as we enjoyed some wine and cheese while taking in all the surrounding beauty and gorgeous sunsets. As to the service, again, it was phenomenal! From the check in clerk, to the restaurant staff, and their housekeeping team, which serviced your room twice per day. Throughout our stay, the staff was pleasant in asking if everything was to our liking. The hotel is perfectly located to use as a hub to visit the many beautiful towns and wineries the Bordeaux region has to offer. We look forward to hopefully returning in the near future to Les Sources de Caudalie for some rest, relaxation, and rejuvenation.

We loved our stay in this beautiful and serene hotel. The grounds and gardens are so peaceful and beautiful (and included a resident swan) and the rooms are all designed with a uniquely French mix of old and new. We stayed in one of the signature suites and our room was stunning! Lots of space, huge bathroom, comfortable furnishings, and views of the pond and the winery across the road. I especially LOVED the bath products. They are Les Sources branded and smelled amazing! I wish there was a way for me to purchase in the US. As far as activities, take the time to grab a bike and ride around the surrounding winery paths, and make sure and do the special forest walk at the nearby Chateau Smith Haute Lafitte (also take advantage of a wine tasting at this winery). One day we reserved the electric BMW for an easy day trip to St. Emillion which I highly recommend. I also advise ordering the room service breakfast…a prefect little French breakfast served in a picnic basket! And service measures up to the beauty of this special place! Every staff member we encountered was so friendly and helpful. Take advantage of the spa and make sure to book dinner at La Table Du Lavoir. We also loved our champagne tasting at the Rouge wine bar on the premises as well as the little bar in the main building that served lovely cappuccinos and inventive cocktails. The only negative of our stay: we dined one night at the Michelin starred restaurant La Grand Vinge, and this was the only disappointment of the trip. Food was excellent and inventive but service was sorely lacking for the price and pedigree - I excepted better. Otherwise this was the most perfect stay and I hope one day to return again to this perfect little hideaway in the Bordeaux countryside.

Reviews From Real Travelers
Firstly I don't normally submit reviews. I think everyone's experience is subjective based on where you've travelled before and what your expectations are. I also think it only fair to address issues with management before posting on a public forum. All of these concerns that I refer to below have been expressed to the management and the response to date has been indifferent at best. Overall this hotel is overdue a refurbishment but unfortunately the tired nature of the decor extends to the staff and management also. My problems were many. The room was not serviced properly on two days. Paint was flaking from the walls and the air-conditioning did not work properly, which meant the room was frequently cold. The room was also poorly lit, which created a very depressing ambience. Check in and check out were comical. When I checked out I was given no bill, no invoice or any receipt, neither was one emailed to me. When I got home I saw that I had been overbilled by €300 which management told me was normal practice but was being refunded to me. By the way it took three days of emailing management to be told this. This could have easily been avoided or cleared this up if I was given an bill/invoice or informed of this by reception, none of which happened. There were other issues. The downstairs common areas are small, rundown and completely misrepresented by the hotels website. The staff refused to hail me a cab and told me to go inside and order one. A small issue, but surely that's one of the benefits of staying in a five star hotel. Finally communication. I emailed them, using the address provided on their website, filled out a contact form on the website and finally completed a customer satisfaction survey. No of this aroused the attention of the Hotel Management. Finally I resorted to the only tried and trusted method, Twitter. I eventually got a response here, but it too was also slow and labored. The room was €500 per night. It was far from value for money. Would I go to Bordeaux again, most definitely yes. Would I stay in this hotel again, most definitely no. The problems in this hotel extend across the board, it will take some effort to fix them.

1st rate experience. Paid attention to detail. 2nd time at the hotel and still like it just as much as 8 years ago. Maybe like it better. Still updating and had construction outside the back of hotel, but let us know about it. We didn’t have a view but the rooms are large and we are out and about during the day. Experience the rooftop bar that was fun on a beautiful night!

We arrived in France for a month of travel, beginning with a long weekend in Bordeaux to recover from jet lag and get our bearings. We chose the Hotel Cardinal for its central location right across from the Cathedral and tram stops. It made it very easy to get around the city. Our accommodations were actually a suite of rooms. In addition to the bed and bathrooms, there is a roomy and comfortable sitting room and kitchenette, where we chose to take our breakfast one morning. (It is a treat and highly recommended if your schedule permits.) We were very comfortable and would stay here again if travel ever takes us back to Bordeaux.

The hotel has 10 suites in the centre of Burdeos, next to the Municipality and the Cathedral, a perfect location. The hotel is very comfortable and comfortable and is very comfortable and comfortable. Breakfast is in the room and certainly from the service that brings you to the room to everything that includes the same is worth mentioning. Reference hotel in Bordeos, we will return!! Thank you very much for everything

Supernice and supergood hotel, marvelous room and central downtown location.
Normally i book rooms in the 100-150E range. I decided to go a bit more luxurious and i tremendously enjoyed it. Im an easy going traveler, i was i Bordeaux to assess architecture and urbanism projects. I rented a bike to go around the city.
The hotel staff is very naturel an friendly, no rush to empty your wallet but rather making sure you have a great time...
Best hotel experience i had i a lon time travelling the globe. Wholeheartedly recommended!!
Bordeaux is the best French City!

It is worthy of five stars and the Paris hotel is cost-effective. Although it is not in the center of Bordeaux, the city itself is not big. It can be reached on foot. The hotel dinner is authentic and the French service is first-class. Very satisfied.

First time in Bordeaux, we booked a nice room here. Honestly, we're lucky enough that we're used to staying in top hotels, and this place blew us away. I'd go back to Bordeaux just to stay here again. The term ”boutique hotel” is so over-used these days, but Villas Foch is truly a boutique hotel. It's small, independently operated. In a nice quiet residential area. The service was off the charts. Everyone was so friendly and helpful to us. The hotel itself is absolutely gorgeous inside. I have no idea who the designer was, but huge kudos to them. The rooms are gorgeous, common areas are gorgeous. Breakfast was great. The bar here is great. Room was super comfy, bed was comfy, AC was great. The staff could not have been better. Like everyone went out of their way to make sure we were having a good time. Really, I can't recommend this hotel highly enough. Huge thank you to the staff here, we had a wonderful stay.

When you travel you want to feel valued, you want the place you hang your hat to be comfortable and be your home away from home. Our stay at Villas Foch was truly special. It's location is central to everything that's Bordeaux and their staff was attentive at every step of the way. This was one of the top hotels we've ever stayed with and would absolutely stay here again when our travels take us back to this part of France. Outstanding!

It's okay, quite satisfactory, mainly in the city center, and close to the wineries around.
