Top 10 County Arms Hotels

My friend and I, had spent many holidays at the Victoria and Belmont Brend Hotels at Sidmouth and we were looking forward to spending 4 nights in the Royal Duchy at Falmouth. We arrived to brilliant sunshine and welcoming staff in reception and had very nice single rooms overlooking the sea. We had chosen half board and were looking forward to our evening meal. Sadly the dinners did not come up to expectations of the AA Rosettes. The fish swam in a watery sauce, Duck that was chewy and overcooked, Sirloin steak,chips OK, but only1 mushroom Kale, loads of watercress Overall the lack of nice vegatables was appalling. Deserts !!!! On our first two nights the deserts we ordered were not available we were told we were unlucky because everyone had chosen the same our 3rd choice had been put aside Sticky toffee pudding, it was a shame the Pudding was stone cold and just about defrosted. Coffee was not included in the deal so there was no atmosphere in the lounge and the ”icing on the cake” the free glass of wine I was given was on my final bill. It certainly was not worth the £330 we paid per night very disappointing.

My husband & I stayed here from 8-12th September 2022. We really enjoyed everything about this hotel. Obviously the view speaks for itself as it has the Wow factor as soon as you walk in! But the staff made it doubly amazing. Everyone was so friendly and seemed like a big family. Nothing was too much trouble and they all never stopped smiling ! It is a rare thing in a hotel and to find every single person we met working there so nice, is brilliant. Well done ! Atmospheres like that are well created and usually come from the very top! Food was fabulous too. Excellent presentation. We liked it so much we have booked into The Lookout Suite for my husband’s next birthday. Thank you everyone at The Greenbank !
