Our 2nd stay here. Large parking area & lovely gardens. Last stayed in sept 2021. Nice room above the spa area. Large bathroom with shower above & clean fluffy towels. Bath panel timing was falling apart so possible recent work under the bath Not sure the help us to stay green message works with plastic throw away cups wrapped in plastic bags in the bathroom is very green!? We didn’t have dinner as were visiting friends. Breakfast last visit was pretty chaotic as was this one. Very busy hot food not kept stocked up. Ran out of bacon & hash browns so lots of people standing waiting for at least 5 mins while they refilled the pans. 3 weddings on last night but no noise. Would certainly consider again when revisiting the area!

The staff are amazing! Kind , friendly, caring! Aymen the receptionist is just so nice! I won’t stay anywhere else, have been using for business for about a year , value for money! I always feel safe and as they know I stay alone always make sure I’m ok ! I won’t stay anywhere else when I’m down for business.

The room was quite cold, with best efforts the radiator could not keep the whole room fully warm. My feet were constantly cold.

Have stayed before and will stay again. Very nice, some rooms can be a little dated but is a personal preference matter, we like them. Staff all very friendly, and that really us all staff from top to bottom, welcoming and helpful.

Reception staff very friendly and helpful. When I tried to check in the staff didn’t have my name but only my friends even though I was the one that paid for the room? Bar food was nice enough but quite expensive over £18 for 1 panini, 1 chips, soft drink & a tea! Room was clean and tidy and very quiet but unfortunately didn’t have the best sleep as bed was really uncomfortable, springs coming through the mattress and really lumpy hard pillows also which was a shame! Stayed there as music event was on at the Colchester Park and looked like it was the nearest hotel to it but walking there was a bit tricky as had to go across a main road and through a dodgy alleyway behind an industrial building which wasn’t signposted after the event had to walk the long way around through the town to get back to the hotel.

Firstly, this was a very important stay! It was mine and my future husband’s Wedding Weekend. We arrived at the Best Western Ivy-Hill Hotel and we’re immediately greeted by smiley and welcoming Lauren who began taking our details for checking in. We had booked the Honeymoon Suite as it was to be our Wedding the following day at nearby Newland Hall, Roxwell. The warm, friendly and massively accommodating Libby (the Hotel’s Manager) was around the corner and came out to welcome us and wish us well for our upcoming weekend. Straight away we were at ease. The staff from here onwards were just perfection. Caring, approachable, efficient and attentive. Nothing was too much and every request was dealt with with no bother. We had a meal for 11 in the glorious BARTELLAS Restaurant that evening. The wonderful host, LORNA couldn do enough for us. But by no means was she intrusive or encroaching on our meal. She was accommodating, fun and full of life and I can 100% say that she made our evening! Of course the food was scrumptious, but without Lorna’s treatment, it wouldn’t have been the evening we had! The morning of our big day we chose to have a few drinks outside in the glorious sunshine, and again, Libby was there to add another finishing touch in the was of a few complimentary nibbles. The wedding was just perfect, and we returned, along with over 30 of our friends and family who were also staying at the Ivy-Hill and the night porter kept us going serving us in the bar until we’ll after the time we expected to bar would close!! The breakfasts were out of this world! I couldn’t fault a thing. And they also had oat milk for our coffee (which isn’t always the case at many hotels!) The room was stunning! Decadent in its decor and romantic, we absolutely loved it! It was the PERFECT stay for our Wedding Weekend! Libby, Lorna, Lauren and the rest of the staff, THANK YOU from the bottom of our hearts for making our ‘Once in a Lifetime’ Weekend above and beyond what we hoped and wished for!
