The Torrance hotel chose our school, St Vincent’s primary in East Kilbride, to benefit from their community give back Christmas parties. Primary 1 and 2 went one week and primary 3 and 4 the next (the latter I attended as a parent helper). We cannot thank the staff enough, who gave up their time voluntarily to provide such a special occasion for our children. There was a fantastic dj, face painter, entertainer, chef, waiting staff and many more who all put in such a shift that I can hardly believe they did it for free. Their enthusiasm and attention to detail was wonderful to see and greatly appreciated. The Manorview Group provided us with transport, the tables were beautifully decorated, there was plentiful food, juice, ice cream, sweeties, dancing competitions, goody bags and a visit from the main man himself, Santa. What an absolute treat this was and one the children (and adults alike) will remember forever. Thank you so much for providing a magical Christmas experience for the kids.

I really don't like leaving negative reviews but our one night stay at the Torrance Hotel has led me to write this. Our personal experience was as follows: The Torrance looked a very well designed hotel but..... The room we booked was small and there was no room to put anything down or hang any clothes up. The bathroom basin plug did not close and so the result was that the adjoining room to ours was unlocked and we used that wash basin when needed. The cover for the shower outlet came away when the shower was used. The lighting was dreadful, no shaving mirror, and also the light over the main mirror meant that my husband couldn't see adequately to shave. The continental breakfast was sparce. There was fresh fruit but no plain yoghurt, and the only cereals on offer were of the highly sweet and sugary variety. No butter, only margarine on the table, when I asked for butter I was informed that there wasn't any. I did order scrambled eggs and this was very good, I tried not to think about it being made with margarine! The staff were so helpful and obliging they couldn't be faulted but I would never stay at a Torrance Hotel again.

The lighting in the whole building is very subtle. Nice and relaxing music and atmosphere. Only one hand and bath towel in the bathroom and, although there were more in the bottom of the bed, we were unaware of where to find these until we checked out. I was in the shower before I realised there wasn’t a second towel and it was too late to phone reception. Booking had 2 names for the room so we would have expected adequate towels in the bathroom or visible in the room rather than under the bed.

Nice entrance and lounge area with a bar and grill so was good to be able to eat and have a drink without leaving the hotel. Rooms were clean and modern with plenty power points and optional lighting Was impressed and a full breakfast to top it off. Would stay again. Thanks.

Overall our stay was great. The staff were very friendly. The room was small but desgined really well and very comofrtable. The hotel had a great atmosphere to it, with lots of young guests and things to do in the reception area. The wifi was hit and miss - trying to make a zoom call in the reception area was nearly impossible even at 7am.

The accommodation experience was good, clean and tidy. Service in place. Easy and fast check-in. The only problem is that there is no phone number during the holidays. You need to contact customer service downstairs to solve the problem.

The boss is very welcoming, the breakfast is delicious, the single room is a little small, but I am enough for me to transfer this night, the facilities are complete, the environment is great, the service is thoughtful

The hotel itself is fantastic for the price. The pool is fab and no booking is required. Free parking which is also a bonus. The breakfast was great too. Only downfall I’d say is that prices of food and drink are very high in the restaurant and bar for what you actually get. I would definitely stay here again though. Staff are brilliant.

Brilliant afternoon yesterday getting an afternoon tea with friends. Our server Annemarie was first class - can’t recommend her enough! The food was great and location easy to get to as well, was central for everyone to get to. Will definitely be back to explore more of the hotel soon.

Reviews From Real Travelers
I really wanted to leave a great review for this hotel. We stayed for an ultimate spa break to celebrate my daughter finishing her exams and leaving school. She was really looking forward to it. Our initial impressions were good, the grounds are beautiful and the reception staff were attentive and friendly. When we reached our room we were a bit disappointed as the room wasn’t to the same standard as other McDonald hotels we have stayed in and sadly that became our constant thought throughout the whole stay. The decor is very tired and the whole place could do with an overhaul. Paper peeling from walls, we had tissue paper stuck underneath the handles on the windows to keep them closed. The relaxation room of the spa was horrible as the ceiling looked mouldy and the paper was peeling off the walls. We had dinner the first night. We had looked at the menu online however it was totally different when we went into the restaurant and the choices weren’t great. We ordered cocktails and both agreed they were the worst cocktails we had ever had, they cost £9.95 each and I didn’t drink mjne at all. Breakfast the next morning was shambolic, there was 8 of us in the restaurant and the staff were running around like headless chickens saying they were so busy and tables weren’t cleaned, we waited a ridiculous length of time to order our food and it took forever to come. We had afternoon tea booked as part of the deal, again it wasn’t great. It had obviously been made well in advance of our booking time and the break on the sandwiches were hard and the cakes cheap and uninteresting. We ate out elsewhere our second evening. We both enjoyed our spa treatments which helped rescue the weekend. Breakfast on our final morning was better as it was a buffet style although we had to wait ages to ask staff for plates as there were none available to lift up (apparently the plate warmer was broken so they weren’t leaving plates out). I think that the staff of Crutherland House are doing the best they can however something has gone wrong with the running of this hotel and it needs attention . We wouldn’t recommend it to friends and next time will go somewhere else

I booked an overnight mid week Spa break here with my daughter to celebrate our birthdays. As I had received a telephone call giving us a spa treatment time of 3pm, and advised that we had an early access to our room, we arrived at 11.30 to be told that we would not get entry to our room until 3pm - surely this was not correct?? The relief receptionist (a lovely young gentleman - Mackenzie) said he would see what he could do so, leaving our luggage with him, we enjoyed a delicious afternoon tea which had been booked for 12.15. The hotel is isolated without transport, however we enjoyed a stroll around the grounds and coffee in the bar before again asking about our room at 2pm. Still no room available! By this time I was not at all pleased, stressing that the hotel had made our appointment with the Spa for 3pm and I most certainly was not going to have a spa without getting changed. Mackenzie then made the decision to give us our room key. On arrival at the room we found it all ready for guests - just with no robes or slippers. Back to reception! Once again Mackenzie came to the rescue - a quick phone call and we picked up two robes from a lady in a room on the ground floor. Phew! A very quick change into swimwear and we arrived at the Spa with 5 minutes to spare for our booked treatments. The Spa ladies were wonderful and we both thoroughly enjoy our treatments which we followed with a lovely swim in the heated pool. Now that I have gone this far, I shall also comment that the dinner was a let-down. The Goats Cheese starter was excellent, however the vegetarian curry was a shocker - a bowl half filled with rice and Naan Bread on the side however the curry was so overcooked there was no sauce! I should have returned the dish at that point, however I just could not face another drama. My daughter gave me into trouble for even trying to eat it! Having stayed here previously, I know Crutherland are able to do so much better. I trust that this review will help them iron out the creases and be back to their previously wonderful service very quickly.
