Rio Amacuzac numero 10 Esquina Chilpancingo, Cuernavaca, Morelos, Mexico
"This is a first class hotel with spa. Our room, Di Chirico, was spacious but a bit dark since there is only one main window. Even with the shades wide open in the middle of the day, there is not much light. I was always surprised how sunny it was outside because of the darkness inside. There is enough lighting to read and there is plenty of lighting in the bathroom. The shower and the toilet are each behind glass doors while the two sinks were out front side by side next to the bedroom. There is no door between the bathroom and the bedroom but this was not a problem. The bed is large and comfortable and looks out of the only window onto the patio. There was a coffee table with two chairs and a desk area with desk chairs. The WiFi was excellent. The TV has Netflix and Prime but no English TV except Al Jeezera which is not a favorite. We asked why they did not have at least CNN and they said they would look into it. Also operating the TV is tricky. We needed a completely new box and a session on how to turn it on. Eventually everything worked but then we had to leave. Service is very attentive. Most of the staff has limited English but the front desk has several people with excellent English so it was not a problem. The concierge guided us to many interesting spots in Cuernavaca and Uber works well throughout the city so very safe. We had excellent massages in the small spa - very relaxing and with a good steam bath. Mexican breakfasts are not a favorite of mine since I don’t like eggs. However, the bread basket had some good selections and the juice was fresh and delicious. We ate dinner once there and it was good but not wonderful. Plenty of other places to go and the front desk helped us find them. Although it was too cold to swim, the pool is large and can accommodate lap swimming. Probably great if it is not winter! It is not heated but one couple went in anyway. We were very pleased with our stay and although we will probably not come back to Cuernavaca, we would stay there if we did. I think we were the only Americans in the hotel."
"We stayed 5 nights in February- the hotels excellent website highlighted the many places to visit in the area. The hotel is stunning- an excellent room, a stunning garden and ambience, a beautiful pool, an outstanding restaurant and overall great service. It was a lovely place to stay. We also enjoyed our visits to the Robert Brady House (a real find), the Jardins de Mexico (outstanding), and Xochicalco archaelogical site. Disappointingly, the Hernan Cortez museum is closed and has been closed for several years (earthquake damage), and the Jardin Borda no doubt was once beautiful, but unfortunately no longer. We were told that Tepotzlan was worth a visit, and it might be on certain days- provided that is not the height of Carnival when it feels half of Mexico City descends on the town- we spent several hours in traffic queues- perhaps the hotel might have warned us. Overall, I made a great choice regarding the hotel, but a poor choice to stay in Cuernevavca- having spent 2 weeks now in Mexico I know that there are better places to visit."
"Gorgeous little hotel, boutique hotel. Everyone from the valet, to reception (Mrs. Aurelia Morales Brito such an sweetheart), to the pool area...everyone makes you feel so welcome, you don't want to leave. The room was very modern, comfortable, nice to be inside. Very well kept grounds and rooms. The service at the pool area was superb. The pool a bit small, but for few rooms, nothing bigger is really needed. Food was great, a bit high in price, but since you are in the pool or in your room, the comfortable thing is to order in. The restaurant id delicious. And the spa amazing!! (ask for Cynthia, whom has hands of an angel...amazing massage! Also Judith is excellent in all spa treatments, they both make you feel lost in space and time)"
