Shortly decided to spend a day in the mountain country. The hotel I booked fits from the optics exactly into this region. Cosy, some would call it rustic. I like it anyway. At the height of the time is the checkin already. You enter the previously sent code and you've already finished with the checkin entry. The friendly staff has time for some smaltalk because the entire writing stuff is dropped. The rooms are like the house: cozy and mostly freshly renovated and top clean. You can well stand in the rooms. However, I was driven into the tastefully furnished lounge, where you would like to let the day out with one or two drinks. The next morning it went to the modernly furnished breakfast room. Even on the way there you will be attracted by the smell of the brown bacon. Be it whole cereal bread or croissant, cheese or sauce. Everything is delicious, sufficiently available and if you put the price for breakfast in relation to the offer a ”snapper” Because check-out is, for the rest, as easy as check-out. Just go through the door to the parking house and leave. No Key-loading-simply well-being.

Lured by the positive reviews, I stayed at the Hotel Villa Achenbach for five nights. The hotel fell far short of meeting minimal expectations. You may be well advised to consider another alternative for your stay in Dusseldorf. On one evening with a temperature of 4 degrees outside, there was no heat in the suite. When questioned about this the next morning, Alexandra, the person at reception, mumbled something about 'it depends on the weather outside but now it is set where it belongs'. There was no internet service in the sitting room of the suite. Indeed, it only works consistently at the desk; it cuts out frequently other places. There's no connection in the bedroom. Alexandra stated it could not be fixed before my departure since 'the IT guy is away'. Housekeeping is uneven. Trash piles up . The area around the sink where I have placed my toiletries hasn't been cleaned since arrival. The bed is not made properly. It is easy to hear the footfall of the guests thon the floor above the suite. The general manager is apparently away for a few weeks. Neither Alexandra or Anna seem to have the authority to address these problems and adjust the bill. There does not seem to be a plan in place to ensure guest satisfaction. This is made worse by their failure to volunteer information. I must always ask for it and Alexandra in particular has yet to deliver it in a sympathetic way. While the idea of small, cozy hotel like this is appealing -- and it's a lovely place -- at the Villa Achenbach it is very difficult to feel comfortable. The idea in my experience is much better than the sad reality of the physical plant and the unhelpful staff.

We stayed at this hotel for a romantic getaway. Customer service was excellent and we managed to get a final slot at the sauna at 11pm on the day we arrived. The hotel room was just divine, all those little details around, comfortable bed, cozy places, and sunset from the balcony! The bathtub was a definite highlight and one of the reasons why I wanted to try this hotel. The only negative I could comment is that the balcony is partially see through so people from below at the street or even the houses opposite can see you in detail when you’re leaning on the side of getting out of the bathtub. At 13th floor though, I wasn’t too concerned about this. This visit was a definite treat for me, would have loved to stay longer and definitely plan on coming back.
