If you enjoy staying in historical buildings or in this case, repurposed buildings, this location is for you!! Originally built as a bank and office building in 1928. This site completed an upgrade in 2013. It still has all of the charm and structural features, but now supports a hotel. Rooms are very nice and clean; plenty of hot water; AC works fine. There is a restaurant/bar are in the lobby serving drinks/food to 1pm and then back in late afternoon starting at 4pm. Perfect location for urban explorers. Easy walks around Downtown, Little Italy, Embarcadero. The building itself has some ”easter eggs” so make sure to check in with front desk staff about what to hunt for. There are two nightclubs nearby that do get rather loud in the evening, so if you are a light sleeper, or do not like excessive night/city noise, this place may not be a good choice. Our stay at La Jolla Beach and tennis club was perfection. Check-in was a breeze and the gentleman that checked us in was super nice and helpful. We had a room with a kitchenette and it was big and comfortable for us. Yes, the rooms could use renovations. The carpets are old and in some spots had tears along the edges. Our room had a slight musky smell and to me it’s from the old carpeting. The furniture is old and just the overall room def needs updating. However, I will say everything was very clean. I had no issues with the cleanliness and the service provided by the room attendant throughout our stay. Breakfast and service at the restaurant was very good as well. Every staff member was friendly and helpful. Now let’s talk about what truly makes this place a gem. It’s the beautiful beachfront property. You’re literally steps from the beach. So relaxing and beautiful and worth a million bucks. The amenities are great and though also showing a little dated was not a big deal for us. Dinner at The Marine Room was perfection and delicious. Honestly, I can’t wait to come back.

We stayed at Rancho Valencia in July and we had a wonderful time! Don’t look any further this place is a DREAM. The property is absolutely stunning and pristine, the service was impeccable, they are beyond dog friendly, my fur friend was dialed in with all the amenities in our room and they have a special dog menu at their restaurant. (Sophie my franchise had a bed for her at dinner,so spoiled). We dined on property both nights and we thought the food was delicious and lots of options to choose from. We really enjoyed playing tennis at the club their facilities is really clean and super organized. The rooms are all very large suites we had a full living room, very large bathroom, shower & tub and a gorgeous courtyard. I can’t forget how incredible our experience was with their brand new state of the art spa & pool. This is by far the most luxurious property in North San Diego and they go the extra mile to make you feel special & spoiled. I can’t wait to go back! If you get a chance to stay at Rancho you will not be disappointed.

Take the children to play on the weekends, and find that there is no hot water when playing in the water by the sea when going back to the room to take a bath. Called the front desk and waited for half an hour before the workers came to repair it. Because I had reserved dinner, I couldn't wait to fix it, so I had to go to dinner first. Come back for dinner and find that there is still no hot water! Called the front desk again, waited for nearly an hour, and made several phone calls during the call to see the repair.
