Top 10 Howard Lake Hotels

Well, let me see if I can make this short and sweet. The place is awesome! The hotel is spotless, the location is killer. In my weekly travels across the U.S I never encounter hotel staff as nice as the ones I met here at the Westin In Edina MN. I spent many moments speaking to Mark in the lobby area since he had family back in New England. He gave great recommendations to local restaurants and parks. What a nice guy and the folks at the front desk were just as sweet. I don't know who owns this hotel but they do a fantastic job training their staff and treat them like gold in this very competitive job market. Thanks for a great stay, I hope I am back next week!!

We've stayed at this hotel a couple times now due to location, parking, and rates. Although the rooms are clean and comfortable, it doesn't make up for lack of staff training. The young man at the front desk could not seem to muster a smile , nor any greeting upon check-in nor check out on two stays. Same with the shuttle driver. During one check in there was a young man with very casual clothing scrolling on his phone behind the two front desk employees. Looked very unprofessional. There was only one time upon an evening arrival from the airport that we received a smiling welcome from a young woman at the front desk. Unfortunately, the bar had just closed and the food and beverage offered in the small market was abysmal. I'm a Marriott member and did not receive a request to review. I want to like this location, however the lack of services and staff training will prompt me to look elsewhere.

Stayed for the first time at this hotel to attend a Pat Benatar concert. Check in was a bit confusing. Arrived on a busy Friday afternoon. There appeared to be two check in lines - one for regular guests and one for VIP’s. Regular line was really long with only one staff person assisting. After waiting a while, a person from the VIP line who had just checked in came over and told us we could go in either line. We moved to the shorter line and got checked in almost right away. Signage above the registration desk should be changed so that guests are not confused. We got a room in the Lobby Tower on the 3rd floor which meant we didn’t even need to get on an elevator - just needed to walk down the hall. Hotel room was nice. Appeared to have been renovated. Mattress was just okay - not bad, but not fabulous either. Room had a Keurig coffee machine, which was a nice touch. The only negatives we found: 1) Pool does not open until 9am. Would have loved to have gone for an early swim or jacuzzi before bfast and before small children arrive. 2) Room was missing a make up mirror, which didn’t help my 50+ YO eyes. 3) Coffee in the ****** and hotel cafe was awful - no flavor at all. Would recommend stopping at Caribou in the hotel lobby to get a good cup of coffee. Comments on the ****** There is no smoking allowed in the ******, which is WONDERFUL! Had a hard time getting anything out of the slot machines, however, there is a wide variety of machines to choose from. Played $2 blackjack on Friday night and had a blast (would come back for this reason alone). A big shout out to Adriana and Samuel, two dealers who were so kind and funny and really made our gambling session so much fun.

This hotel continues to decline from being a first rate business hotel to no longer providing services of a strong business hotel. I have stayed here 3 of every four weeks for the last six years including through the pandemic. We have hosted multiple company and customer events. You can no longer get room service from the restaurant - you get a to go box. I might as well stop at Panera if I want to eat out of a paper bag. The quality of the food and the service of the restaurant has declined. The wine list went from reasonably good to reasonably bad - higher markups with less interesting / artisan wine. A black coffee that you wait in line for in the morning costs nearly $8.00. We have a large employee event in March and a big customer event in August. We will be shopping around. This is a great example of decline after a purchase. There are so many options for other hotels. This hotel has no pool / out door space and it has noise from the highway. Once you eliminate your business traveler it is unlikely to fill up with little league teams.

The hotel was not convenient to much but the staff was outstanding. The hospitality manager gave us great suggestions of what to see and somehow tracked down our room to leave a list of 150 things to do in Minneapolis. Definitely above and beyond what was anticipated. All the staff was friendly and the hotel was very clean. Will definitely stay here again if we are in Minneapolis.

It was a holiday inn hotel. The outside smoking space and ashtray were neatly maintained as amenities. The breakfast buffet was delicious.
