Reviews From Real Travelers
A modern parador, spotlessly clean with very friendly, helpful staff. We stayed here for 11 days ( in fact as I write this we are still here, leaving in two days time). It's SO peaceful and relaxing, very quiet and hushed. The grounds are good and there's a pool but it was too cold for me, and others who tried it gasped in shock when first entering the cold water. No matter, the position and mountain views are amazing, breakfast is superb too. However you need to boil the small kettle if you'd like a cup of tea at breakfast. Coffee is much more the Spanish way of life. Rooms are excellent, large, with a strong shower and nice bathroom. The parador is approx 5-10 mins from centre of town ...which is amazing. Lots to see. Great places to eat (try the bullring, arte de tapas and recuerdos bodega tapas near the parador. You can eat at the parador although it's a little more pricey than in town but if breakfast is anything to go by, the food will be amazing We came without a car and used local buses and trains to get around, visited Cordoba, and the local tour company Tour Group del Dolmenes, in the old square, run by Deborah (it's the only place in town you can buy postcards) and we went on two tours, the Dolmenes and el Torcal. Don't miss either! Antequera is a wonderful place and I hope that if you're reading this you enjoy it as much as I have.

The hotel is located in the centre of the city centre, just 10 minutes walking distance from the city centre. Breakfast leaves much to desire compared to other stoppers, especially given the price of the stop, they should improve that service (caffee capsules that make out of all except coffee, do not replace the dishes, nor the races or the ponds, There were no bottles of water ...).

This was such an authentic experience! The staff is very helpful, friendly and speaks English. We had more service than we wished for. The location is an old monastery, make sure to read the history info provided and take a tour through the church and crypts. It makes the stay more special! The rooms are luxuriously big and have their own vegetable garden. The spa is a nice extra tough and was never really busy. The breakfast is a la carte with very friendly staff and choose of local products. Make sure to take your time to enjoy this first meal of the day. Also, at least go for one night to the restaurant! Very gastronomic choices on the menu! Most of all we liked the friendliness of the staff. We really felt like we made friends along the way. What a perfect way to start of our holiday in Spain!

We are a group of eight golfers who go away twice a year and over the years have stayed in many hotels across Spain and Portugal. Our five nights at the Convento La Magdalena was amazing and it is definitely one of the best places we have stayed. It's a little way out of Antequera ( 10 min drive) but because of this it's an incredibly peaceful, quiet area with beautiful scenery everywhere you look. I used to go for a walk each morning and the surrounding area is so peaceful and breathtaking I had to drag myself back for breakfast :-) The breakfast was excellent (with plenty of options) and all the staff I encountered were really lovely, friendly and helpful. We only tried the bar food but this was really tasty and reasonably priced. Thanks Convento La Magdalena. We will be back!

Reviews From Real Travelers

Excellent value hotel situated on a motorway slip road. We booked in advance as a place to stay after a few days visiting Sierra de Andujar. We wanted to visit El Torcal before returning to Malaga. Arrived early evening , plenty of free parking. Check in was a bit slow & old school but the 4 of us shared 2 rooms which were clean & spacious with excellent bathrooms , hot water & gel etc provided . Very good value price - wise. The bar is good with food being served there as well as drinks. We didn't use the restaurant & also took our breakfast in the bar which was very busy with truck drivers.
