Reviews From Real Travelers
Room was clean, modern, and quite. We were at the end of a hall, so that probably helped. We stayed in a bi-level King suite, which I would highly recommend. The view from the room was not pretty, just a roof of an adjacent building. However we are not in Winnipeg to look out the hotel room window. Bed was very comfortable and the excellent water pressure in the shower was wonderful. At night, the living room area was rather dark and could use a lighting upgrade. Hotel staff were very friendly, from the breakfast (they should have a sign saying ”please seat yourself” - as guests sometimes wait a while for host to come over and tell them to seat where ever they want) to the pleasant staff at the front desk. Always lots of staff at reception, so no waiting. Although we didn't use the pool area, we looked at it, and it was one of the most appealing looking hotel pools we've ever seen. We used the attached underground parking for 5 days - no issues. Parking area is quite large with numerous levels, would seem to be ample space. Easy in/out access throughout the day.

A short one night stay for business. It took a while to get to the hotel as it gets very busy when there is a hockey game or other events. I had a large pickup truck from the rental agency which was a challenge to park in the underground parking. One of the staff helped me navigate the monster truck to an open spot down on the 3rd or 4th level. The room was fine, the gym functional and the lounge is somewhat basic in terms of offering and breakfast for elite members.

Stayed two nights mid-week in August on a ”Gold” level floor. The room -- two double beds -- was very small. The beds were comfortable and the furnishings nice but dated. The room was clean and TV and wifi worked fine. Housekeeping on the first morning did a very thoughtful job making up the room and anticipating our needs based on uses day before. BUT the keycards are unpredictable and the elevators wobble and shake. We stayed on a ”gold” level floor, which are supposedly their nicest rooms, with access to a lounge. Service was good but very inconvenient traveling between the 18th and 19th floors on elevator. Self park is inconvenient (valet is available). Overall, I wouldn't chose this hotel again.

This is an older hotel but it is well maintained. We stayed at the gold club level and thought the lounge was nice. Service was excellent and the food choices were very good. We would definitely stay here again as the location is great. We also enjoyed dinner at the restaurant.

The hotel is very clean and tidy, and the decoration is relatively modern. The location is definitely the best, the area is very lively at night and very safe. Opposite the Human Rights Museum, the view is superb. There are plenty of parking spaces, but the price is a bit expensive. The only downside is that there is no swimming pool.

We spent two midweek nights here. This lovely downtown hotel was built in 1913, and has a beautiful early 20c lobby. If you stay in an historic hotel, you have to understand that some things will not be as good as staying at a modern hotel. For example, bedrooms and bathrooms will often be smaller, there may not be a pool, etc. But for us, being a part of history is enjoyable, and we've stayed in many hotels with an historic background. We found the Fort Garry to be a lovely place---the historic vibe is definitely there. The hotel's location is great---you can walk to the riverside Forks Historic District, with its famous market, museums, etc. And the hotel is only a block from the historic railroad station. Yes, our room was a bit small, but the bed was comfortable. We asked for a room with a good view, and got one on the 5th floor with a nice view of the railroad station and garden areas nearby. The staff here were exceedingly friendly, from the front desk staff to the restaurant servers. For example, our breakfast server from the previous day made a special effort to come over and talk to us the next day, even though she was not our server that day. Really good effort to make you feel comfortable! The hotel has a very nice fitness room, but no pool (you can pay for pool privileges at an adjacent building). The beautiful hotel restaurant (Oval Room) also reeks of history. We had breakfast there two times and dessert (not dinner) once. It's highly rated, and the food was very good. Parking here can be an issue. You can self-park on a fairly small one floor lot on the hotel's first floor, or down below in a basement garage. The first floor lot often fills up with patrons of the restaurant or business functions, but the basement lot was never full, and we used that one on both nights of our stay. Just note that the basement garage has no elevator. Overall, we had a delightful stay at the Fort Garry.

This was a friends/ high school reunion trip. We picked the Hotel Fort Garry for its location and history. It was the best choice for our gathering spot and the staff we worked with/ talked to were warm and professional. Corrie from Sales/Catering assisted with setting up a block of rooms and providing a link so we could individually make room reservations. She reserved a private hotel dining room for our first reunion dinner. The Provencher Alcove was quiet and perfect for visiting and catching up on news of classmates. Pauline, maitre de / hostess, was gracious and treated us like we were a very special group. Even when the group was late for a dinner reservation, she handled it all with great aplomb. Fran, the server from the Oval Room Brasserie, was the best. We enjoyed her sense of humour along with her spot-on recommendations for food and drink items. The Miso Black Cod from the dinner menu was simply Amazing. In the mornings, the group met in the elegant lobby of the Hotel. We had coffee in china (not styrofoam) as we discussed the days plans. It was all very relaxing and stylish. We were in walking distance to The Forks and spent a lovely day taking in the sites, shops and food places. My plan is to return to stay at the Hotel Fort Garry with my family. I would like them to experience the elegance of this location. Thank you Hotel Fort Garry for such a memorable time with old friends.

Fantastic hotel. Clean, modern. Stayed with family of 4. Pool is small but clean. Kids enjoyed it. Breakfast was very good, bacon and eggs, muffins, cereal. Nice location close to outlet mall (crossing the busy street if walking is not ideal). We would stay here again if we are looking to spend most of our time in the outlet mall area.

This is a brand new hotel right next to the outlet mall, Ikea, and cool restaurants. Everything was clean. Staff was friendly, room was a King studio and was spacious. Bed was comfortable. Good parking. There is 24 hour coffee service, free breakfast and bar service. I will be booking this hotel many times in the future!

I've stayed here many times. The first time, I was blown away at how great it was. The customer service was exceptional. The food was perfect in every way. The overall service was so friendly and professional. I literally loved it like a home away from home. We just stayed there again for 9 nights. I couldn't believe the change in everything. The room was in very poor repair. The blackout blind was broken and sticking out. The cupboard door to the fridge was half broken off. The room didn't give you that really clean feeling. Very dusty like it hadn't been used in a very long time. Every day I had to go down to the front desk because either my key didn't work, or the cleaning staff didn't replenish cups and glasses. We even had to ask for another bath towel. They only left one towel for my husband and I (are we supposed to share???). We asked for 2 glasses. They said they didn't have any and that there was a shortage of glasses. Then we asked the cleaning staff again and they looked at us like we were crazy when we told them that there was apparently a glass shortage in the hotel. So we got 2 glasses that we had to wash ourselves everyday. The worst was the dinner food. WOW!!! Terrible. I ordered the caesar salad. They cut a head of romaine....drizzled some dressing on it with boxed croutons and some bacon bits ( I think ) and served it like that. So basicially I was cutting up a head of romaine and eating the lettuce like that. It was horrible. They still charged me but brought me a bowl of vegetable soup (canned) instead. The room was actually never cleaned.....only the bed was made and some towels were changed. Very disappointing after having an incredibly impressive stay a few years ago. I hope they get their act together and do something about all this. New management may help. The outdoor patio was also not available to use.
