After many years of delayed construction we stayed at the Ritz Carlton this past Sunday night. I grabbed a rate of $491 through the Marriott website which is comparable or a bit cheaper than other 5* hotels at the other end of town. The hotel is situated at the western end of the city near the main railway station which isn't the best location in Melb for a luxury hotel. However when pulling into the entrance to have the car valet parked ($75) it's another world. The guys at the entrance were friendly and very helpful. We were escorted to the lifts and whisked up to Level 80 for check in. We were given lots of information about the hotel and facilities and the man checking us in was pleasant and tole us that we were as close to the top on Level 77. The room is spacious with a separate toilet, luggage compartment and big bathroom with bath and a large desk. The views were incredible looking across the city to the east and the bay. Unfortunately our room was a couple of levels above the neighbouring tall building so I could hear the air con all night. As typical of luxury hotels the bed had too soft pillows for my liking and we should've asked for firmer pillows, I don't know why hotels continue to provide such soft pillows. I went to Level 64 for a swim in the shallow pool which was great with incredible views. We met friends and family for drinks in the lounge where the service was prompt and friendly but the drinks are very expensive which is to be expected of a luxury hotel. On the Sunday night near midnight there was a 3.8 richter earthquake in Melbourne but I didn't feel it but my wife said the building moved slightly and I did notice the clock had moved slightly. Breakfast on the long table is fantastic and we thought the breakfast was reasonably priced a la carte only with good selection available. I would stay here again given the right rate but keep in mind the hotel is a tram ride into the shopping and most of the restaurants are up the other end of the city.

This was a weekend ”staycation” for my 9yo son and I. For those not familiar with Melbourne note that the hotel is located at the Spencer Street end of the CBD so great if catching the skybus from the airport of watching the game at Marvel Stadium, not as good for the best shopping / dining that Melbourne has to offer which is more located up the other end where the Sofitel / Next Hotel / Grand Hyatt are located. Next hotel is the pick of the three is you're looking for accommodation at that end. Here is my honest feedback. Hotel is brand new in visually stunning - ooozes class and understated elegance. It's really a beautiful hotel and the views are truly amazing. We appreciated the upgrade to the Victoria Harbour view - it was stunning. The room was beautifully appointed - perfect. Service - overall good. Air con temperature in the room wasn’t working and it kept showing the temp as 22 degrees regardless of how low we set it. Needs fixing perhaps? Room telephone - pick up the phone and there is silence, could not call reception and ended up calling from the phone outside the lift. Sent the engineer over and he said that you have to press 'talk' when you pick up the handset. He said it happens all the time that guests think the phone is broken. Staff - wonderful and perfectly fit the Ritz brand. Turndown service never came, and we had to ask for fresh towels that night - when they arrived he said that he couldn’t access the room for some reason - maybe something to look into? Service at the Lounge was very slow - waited 25 for some vanilla ice cream, ended up taking it back to the room. Perhaps the biggest disappointment was the pool - it was SO cold. Probably explains why there was nobody in it. We were chatting to another guest who said exactly the same thing. You need to dial up the temperature. It's a real shame that we could not enjoy the pool as it could have been the highlight of the weekend. We were in and out in 5 minutes - so disappointing. The area around the pool is also quite cramped and really should have been made bigger but not much that can be done about that now. Also the pool area is not staffed which was a surprise for a hotel of this calibre. There is therefore no food / beverage service. As others have said... having to use two sets of elevators is really annoying to reach your room or ground floor but nothing that can be done about that now. I know some of these things are just ”teething” problems as it's still a new hotel. Hopefully they resolve in time.

Gorgeous stay at this lovely hotel. It was my birthday and it was great to be able to check in early when we got there just after 12 noon. Our room was fantastic, the bed and linens divine and the bathroom huge with lovely gels, soaps etc. We had booked afternoon tea and it was superb with some more unusual sweet offerings. Cocktails and a cheese platter later that night when we returned from seeing some Comedy Festival acts capped our night off beautifully. We had a late checkout so plenty of time to enjoy the fantastic breakfast with everything you'd expect to be on offer. It looked like there was a delicious make-your-own pho-style soup for vegans available too. The staff were terrific. A number of them had little badges on that advised they were in training but you'd never know - service from everyone was polished, pleasant and efficient. Truly service to a high standard worthy of this lovely property. Yes, there's a big building site next door as a new underground station is being constructed - dont let that put you off, you'd never know it was going on once you are inside. No doubt that this is our new favourite hotel in Melbourne - a truly polished but warm and friendly offering to high standard.

We loved our 5 night stay at the Westin. The service from the doorman, the receptionist on check-in and check-out and the breakfast staff was all exceptional. The location is great - great for transport, ideal for theatre goers, and really great for a good night sleep. What amazingly comfortable beds with great pillows! The rooms overall were magnificent. Loved how big they were, loved how big the bathrooms were and space for the two of us was perfect.

Stayed here for 5 nights and was very disappointed. Full disclosure, I thought we'd booked an apartment through a proper managed hotel service, not some pseudo Air BnB type arrangement, as we booked through ***********.au. Unfortunately, that was not the case. First, we were never sent instructions on how to check in. So we got to the location and couldn't even get into the building without tailgating. Fortunately there was a woman at the front who kindly helped us, even though she didn't have to. The apartment itself is sad. But I've managed my expectations of all these new builds in the Melbourne CBD. The quality of the build is awful. One enters through the kitchen and has a poorly decorated tight 2 bedroom apartment. An apartment that fits four people but has one uncomfortable 2 seater couch. Also, the second bedroom has no bedhead or frame so one easily hits their head while sleeping. The bathroom is microscopic, no door to the shower, so water splatters everywhere and there is no water drain in the middle of the bathroom to catch overflowing water, so it seeps out to the living space. Upon check-in we realised there was only 1 and a half rolls of toilet paper for our stay. We went and purchased our own, the first day. We had 3 people stay and they also only gave us 4 towels over 5 nights. The washing machine and dryer didn't work as they were connected to a dead electrical socket. (We tested it with multiple functional electrical products, none of them worked when plugged into that outlet) So, we had to hand-wash our clothes in the tiny basin provided in the tiny bathroom. There was no one to call to ask for help. There is no one to request extra towels from, nothing. The service here is atrocious. The hygiene of the place left A LOT TO BE DESIRED. The floors were filthy, wine and drinking glasses were still dirty and sticky, plates weren't washed. The walls were all scuffed and dirty and the windows stills are covered in thick layers of dust. I would never stay here again. We wrote to management to advise of the issues and got no reply.

This is not a hotel, rather they are serviced apartments. The benefit is having an apartment style accomodation over the often small and cramped hotel room layout. The concierge here was extremely helpful - let us leave our bags before the room was ready, and prepared our room for an early check in at short notice, they also held our bags on the final day after we checked out. The pool, spa, gym and sauna are all good. The service here was very good, and we were close enough to the trams when we needed them. We stayed in a Two-Bedroom Two Bathroom Apartment on the 18th floor.

The first time I lived in Park Hyatt was in Melbourne. Hotel service is very good, very gentleman. Although the facilities have a sense of age. But relatively clean and hygienic. The mattress is relatively soft, and the quilt cover is well received. The traffic location is very convenient.

Goods:
Fast check in
Room big and very clean (except for one oversight that bin hadn’t been emptied from previous guest)
Breakfast- staff were friendly and helpful
Bads:
Long queues at reception
Key card stopped working twice- very time consuming to have to resolve each time
Uber won’t come to hotel. Still have to hump bags back to terminal to get an Uber

This is a really good quality hotel in a nice part of Melbourne. We are Accor Plus members but this night was booked using Emirates points. Accor still gave us a a top floor room with a stunning view and the usual free drink vouchers, which I didn't expect since I didn't book with them. The room was clean with the aforementioned good view and had every thing you need for a short stay. Improvements would be a coffee machine instead of simply a kettle, and a better Chromecast as the one we had just wouldn't work. These are minor issues though. Lifts were very slow, as only one seemed to be operating. Breakfast was efficient and tasty, although the included coffee could be improved and the extra charge coffee was too cold to be enjoyable. All in all an excellent hotel to stay at if you need to stay in the South Wharf end of Melbourne, and we will certainly stay again.

The room was nice and clean and the bed was very comfortable. We had beautiful view’s especially at night. Would highly recommend this hotel. The breakfast was ok. There was not much food there if you are a vegan or vegetarian.

Superb location, in the beautiful old bank building, on the Collins Street with its big name, just a few minutes walk to the commercial street, a few minutes from the train station, very convenient, clean and tidy, free afternoon tea, room There is also a washing machine that can be used, kitchen utensils are super complete, you can cook for yourself and live very comfortably.

I went to the Great Ocean Road before, and I stayed at this hotel when I came back to Melbourne. The hotel has arranged a split-level room with everything you need to feel the unique charm of British management. Attach a room picture of two different styles for two nights.

It’s an old hotel and needs upgrading. Pool area is a disaster, dull and ugly. Very outdated decor. Hallway dark and gloomy. The bedroom was worn out. Bed head material was coming apart. Not a 5 star hotel and definitely not value for money. There are much newer and cheaper hotels in Melbourne with better amenities.
The one thing that was fabulous was the breakfast. Amazing variety, wonderful staff and lovely ambience. The location of the hotel is also great and convenient as it is close to amazing restaurants and bars. The pillows were also comfortable.

Great location hotel, very cool. Missing however lots of amenities that used to be provided in the bathrooms, no more toothbrush, comb etc. You have to call and request these to be delivered to your room, these really should be included already in a 5* hotel at this price point without having to bother staff and guests at having to order it.
