Motel with a real family feel and like a home away from home. Staff are friendly and helpful. Units are spacious and comfortable - we had a one bedroom unit that had wall bed in the lounge which was great to free up room. Lots of family facilities like pool with a slide, spa pool (new !), games room with pool table, table tennis, playstation. To make laundry easier they even have a large clothes line out the back and smaller airing racks. They really think of everything. Gloucester St is quite busy but you don't hear traffic noise. Very handy to Taradale shops, New World and Anderson Park and 10 minute drive to Napier city. Plenty of off street parking.

Passing through the city, I stayed for one night. When I arrived, it was already dark. It seemed to be 7 or 8 o'clock. The people at the front desk were about to leave work. See us and hand over the keys to us. The entire hotel is a bit old, but it is clean. The bathtub has a surf massage function, and you can try it. It was late at night, didn't pay attention to the scenery outside. When I got up in the morning, I found out that the window was the beach. I opened the balcony door and went out for a walk. It was very comfortable. The location of the hotel is a bit far from the center of the city. After the high-speed entrance to the city, it opened for a while and turned around.

We had a 3rd floor, ocean view room. It was a very good unit. Plenty of room with a small deck looking out over the water. There are plenty of places to eat close by, and we recommend going to ”Lick this” just up the road. There was a spa bath and a good supply of towels.

Room was good, strange set up with the curtains the way the heater was set up though. Bathroom was quite small but 100% functional, did have issues with water changing temperature in the shower which is a bug bear of mine. Overall a great place to stay though.

The location of the hotel is very good, facing the bay, across the road is the seaside, there are many restaurants around, and the hotel facilities are okay, relatively clean. There are many wineries nearby, very stylish.

We stayed here because the whole of Napier was rebuilt in the 1930's after an earthquake. The centre of town is all art deco buildings. The hotel is art deco internally & we stayed in the ”Mark Twain” suite. The room was very comfortable with all the fixtures and fittings you'd expect. They have off site parking 500m away if you book. There are plenty of bars and restaurants around for meals. Worth doing the historical trip across the road at the museum including driving around in period cars. Also good for antique shopping.

Fantastic stay only wish we could have stayed longer. Spotlessly clean . Very friendly will certainly stay again. Look forward to our next visit. Visiting the bay is always great to catch up with family friends. Awesome weekend at Albatross Motel
