The hotel itself is fantastic for the price. The pool is fab and no booking is required. Free parking which is also a bonus. The breakfast was great too. Only downfall I’d say is that prices of food and drink are very high in the restaurant and bar for what you actually get. I would definitely stay here again though. Staff are brilliant.

The lighting in the whole building is very subtle. Nice and relaxing music and atmosphere. Only one hand and bath towel in the bathroom and, although there were more in the bottom of the bed, we were unaware of where to find these until we checked out. I was in the shower before I realised there wasn’t a second towel and it was too late to phone reception. Booking had 2 names for the room so we would have expected adequate towels in the bathroom or visible in the room rather than under the bed.

We were completely exhausted when we checked in and delighted to find a comfy bed with lovely views over the river. We rested for a while and then went to the spa. The pool was just the right temperature as was the sauna and steam room. It was very relaxing. We enjoyed a great meal it was very tasty and served quickly. I'm vegan and gluten free and the choice for me was excellent. We then strolled around outside for a while catching the setting sun. The scenery was gorgeous. We slept really well and again enjoyed the spa facilities before a hearty breakfast and checked put completely refreshed at 11am the next day. We couldn't have asked for a better experience. My husband and I have stayed at this hotel around 8 times and absolutely loved it. Beautiful modern comfy rooms, lovely bar area and the best ever showers! We have always experienced first class service from lovely staff. This unfortunately came to an end when we checked in last month. There was one really lovely young lady at reception as we arrived but she was caught up with another guest sorting out a problem with the TV remote control. I believe this girl summoned another staff member to come out from the office to deal with us. Out she came, never said hello, no eye contact infact was cold, and it made me feel uncomfortable. I'm guessing she was not happy at being called out of the office. So, with a cold and hostile attitude, we were checked in and given keys. As we always requested a downstairs room, I noticed our room was upstairs. I asked if there were no downstairs rooms, and we had requested this. She said”yes so I see,” and said no, there aren't any . So would you not think that when checking someone in who had requested a downstairs room, you would at least acknowledge this. Unfortunately, this has put me off returning and we have been staying at a different hotel. It's such a shame when the hotel is lovely and that one ”huffy” receptionist can ruin everyone else's hard work.

The hotel was nice. We arrived on a Friday evening when there was a huge event taking place at the house. Check-in was quick and easy. Rooms were clean just a bit warm. Fortunately, we had a fan in the room. Beds were very comfy. Dinner at the restaurant was ok, nothing fancy but fine for the price. However, staff is in dire need of training. Not one single waitress/waiter was able to smile. They spoke very fast and slurred and we had to wave them to come back for further orders. When we ordered the bill, something went wrong with the card and they just walked away, mumbling something we could not understand. After 10 minutes they still did not get back to us so we had to catch them at the bar in order to clarify what happened. Turned out the card was declined and they did not make any efforts in letting us know. Which left us with a very strange feeling. Breakfast was the same, staff was not able to smile or at least look friendly. It all felt like it was a shame that they had to work. Not sure what the reason is for that as they treated all guests the same way. The next morning we were sitting in the breakfast area with the sun blinding us so we asked them to pull down the blinds but they told us they were just facade. Breakfast buffet was very poor: Kellogs cereal bags (the small ones) 3 bananas, 2 old apples and some grapes.
