We spent the most beautiful weekend here in early December 2023 - for my sister’s 60th birthday. From the moment we entered the hotel we were made to feel extremely welcome. The reception team were warm and friendly and went out of their way to make our stay perfect. Upon arrival we were informed that we had been upgraded to the stunning October suite which was such a beautiful surprise. My sister received handcrafted chocolates and a bottle of bubbly from the Hotel Manager, along with a card wishing her a wonderful birthday - kind, thoughtful, gestures that went such a long way and made her feel so special. We had the most amazing food during our stay - breakfast superb - spoiled for choice and such a relaxing environment, overlooking the stunning grounds. Lunch was at the spa and our evening meals in the bar area. Food was just sensational no matter where we dined. An amazing restaurant team who were so attentive and polite - nothing was too much trouble. A very special thanks to Victoria in the spa restaurant and Dan in the hotel restaurant/bar - both went out of their way to make our stay even more enjoyable. We had 3 blissful days of treatments at the Spa. We can highly recommend the mud rasul, salt scrub and massage combo, luxury facial and luxury pedicure. All of the spa therapists were superb and provided first class treatments that we didn't want to end as well as having exceptional knowledge of both the treatments and products. We adored the spa shop and the fabulous selection of skin care products that we were able to purchase along with some beautiful christmas gift sets. The spa facilities were spotlessly clean, and we thoroughly enjoyed the pool area especially the jacuzzi and relaxation room - sheer bliss. Rookery Hall is truly a magical place that we would highly recommend to anyone who is looking to escape and indulge in blissful pampering. We look forward to returning later in the year for another amazing spa break.

Visited Rookery as part of a spa weekend and cannot wait to go back. The thing that stood out for me was the faultless service, from the moment we arrived staff (from spa, check in, bar, restaurant, coffee shop, cleaners) could not do enough for us. Spa: spotlessly clean, good quality robes and towels, exceptional afternoon tea. Hotel: luggage had already been taken to our room, great spacious room, turn down service, again spotless. Bar: knowledgable bar man who was very attentive, lovely cosy atmosphere. Restaurant: food was exceptional quality, michelin standard, high attention to detail. Cannot wait to return here...the customer service was one of the best ive experienced recently..credit where it is due!

One night stay whilst visiting the area and booked with Great Little Breaks so we got a good deal for B&B with dinner & wine. Lovely rooms, very clean and quiet despite a large function. We pre-booked a table for Dinner which is a good idea as the restaurant was very busy. Food was very good although not a huge choice. No ice available for drinks in the restaurant but there was in the upstairs bar!!!! Surely they can share - same hotel just a flight of stairs to go up to get some?? Breakfast service however was shocking, very poor. We were a table of 4, not shown to a table when we arrived and we couldn’t find a cleared one available. We put the dirty stuff onto another table and claimed it but no-one around clearing any used tables at all. We had to ask for bowls for cereal, glasses for juice, someone to bring us cutlery, plates at the hot food area, butter for the toast, brown sauce!!! No one checking or replenishing these areas at all! The fried eggs were undercooked, bacon leathery, no mushrooms, half tomatoes floating in water! When plates were brought out eventually they really cold. The staff looked stressed and never smiled or acknowledge guests - we visited in July and I’m afraid the breakfast experience was similar then which is a shame because everything else in this hotel was really quite nice. Sorry for negatives but with improvements in these areas it could be great.

At £40 in price you get tiny 2x tuna sandwiches 🤢, 2x egg & mustard 🤢, 2x ham sandwiches and 2x cheese & onion... Imposed to us! Followed by 6 ”thumb size” cakes , which was nice but which were clearly brought and not made by a chef (or anyone in the kitchen for that matter) and I remind you the price tag is £40 !!! Then there is the scones, jam and cream which I can not fault but once again tasted like a good ”supermarket” quality product. And there is the tea 😔 I would expect from an Afternoon Tea just one thing to be right... Just one, the TEA that i am drinking during this particular AFTERNOON which costs £40 AND maybe if it's not too much to ask for a CHOICE, even if small a choice would be greatly appreciated 👍 After all this I will never visit Wychwood Park Golf Club again and I warn you about it now you better pop to the supermarket for your afternoon tea if you're planning to go, it's the same ! Ps: I hope they will run the hoover in the years to come and maybe clean the splatter on the wall too 🤢🤮, lucky this place got a ”few” friendly staff and a golf course or they would be shut!

The hotel is very close to Waterworld stoke on Trent, There is no charge for its own parking lot. It will be convenient to play in the water. Waterworld did not wash for two minutes. The cabinet clerk was polite and sent three fresh cookies to eat. The room is good, the TV is big enough, the disadvantage is that the shower water is too weak, there is no air conditioning in the room but there is a fan. Breakfast is a general English buffet, there are not many choices but enough food, the grain has a separate packaging is more hygienic.

Stayed here on business… When entered the room it smelt heavy of smoke which was strange as non smoking hotel… Reception was very apologetic and changed us the room straight away…

We stayed at the Hartford Hall for one night which was way more than enough. The hotel looks really nice from the online pictures and most reviews are pretty positive although I have to wonder if they stayed in the same place as we did. We arrived at the hotel around 4.30pm on a Friday afternoon and waited to checkin at a small booth in the main bar. No one was there but the barman was friendly and told us someone would be with us soon. The guy who checked us in was very friendly and gave us our room key for ”Clotton” room. We made our way through the bar towards an outbuilding which was where the rooms were located along a smelly corridor with filthy carpets. There were lots of dogs in the bar and some very small children (toddlers) just wondering around, it felt like a kennel come creche!! Our room cost £105 breakfast not included, and was quite spacious with a large bed and was nice and warm. But within minutes we could smell a musty damp aroma which was coming from the bathroom. All appeared clean and dry so we turned the bathroom lights on and the extraction fan started. This controlled the smell. We popped down to the bar for some light food as we were going into Northwich for dinner later. We ordered garlic bread with cheese, buttermilk chicken and fries. This small plate selection came to just under £19. The food arrived and the buttermilk batter was burnt, and we are still looking for the cheese that was supposed to be on the garlic bread. The food was really poor and the whole place seemed to be trying to be something that it's not. We came back to the room for a shower and this was when we realised why the room was musty. The shower try is too small and there was no glass screen at the end of the shower so water sprayed everywhere. We had to use all the hand towels to keep the floor dry. It was a real mess. We went out for the evening and came back to the hotel at bang on 11pm and were looking forward to a few drinks. We went to the bar only to be told ”we are closed”!!! So off to bed we went. Our room was right angles to the pub which was located on the very end of the building and parallel to a very busy road. The room had old and ineffective double glazing and so we had constant road noise all night. Neither of us slept and was one of the worst experiences we have had in a hotel. At 8.30am we checked out. We mentioned to the lady who was at the check in desk that we had had an awful night to which she replied ”yes the road is noisy”. We also mentioned that we couldn't get a drink last night and her reply was ”we are a pub with rooms, not a hotel”. We will never eat or stay here again and definitely would not recommend. It's awful.

We found all staff and especially front lady at reception. Sorry we did not get her name but found her extremely helpful to us. The room was extremely comfortable and clean. Breakfast was great and my wife and I couldn’t believe how busy the bar and hotel was during our stay. We highly recommend this hotel and we will definitely return. Fabulous guys and we wish you all continuous success throughout 2024. Merry Christmas to you all! Ps Forgot to say Good value for money.

We stayed at the Castle over Valentine's Day / Night on a room and dinner package. Our stay included afternoon tea which was disappointing due to lack of service and very few options provided, e.g. tea flavours, etc. However, we did not allow this to spoil our special occasion. The four poster room was delightful although a little tired in its decor. It did have all the amenities and included a heated bathroom floor. Fresh milk for our morning cup of tea/coffee was available upon request and was delivered promptly. The dinner was included as part of the package although the staff were not aware of the free glass of bubbles included. The maitre d' honoured it without fuss for which we were grateful. Upon departure, they confirmed that this was part of the package. The food was excellent for dinner including an excellently cooked chateaubriand with plenty of it. We indulged in a starter which was excellent too. Service was just right with no rush which suited us. We were seated in a booth which we requested and it was very comfortable. All credit to the gardener, also, who manicured the lawn so well. Our only adverse comment would be the staff paying attention to detail which, perhaps, would come through better training.

March the 5th 8pm and my last night here and just back in room 106 after another fantastic meal in the brasserie. Food has been lovely and the same for the breakfasts . Cannot fault either as so nice. All the staff from reception to the bar staff to the restaurant staff are so nice and helpful and very smartly dressed . Room again could not fault really nice. Yes if I was on 4 in a bed you can always find something if you want too. But I'm not. Building is absolutely fantastic so we'll maintained for such a large and old castle. Bar has the wow factor when you walk In too. Carparking is dead easy and about a 2 to 300 yard walk to reception but you can drop luggage off then park car. Would I recommend it to others. Definitely.

Travelled up for a charity bike ride. Proximity to park and mosque was key and this suited perfectly. Room was great. Shower powerful. Noise Proof good as we had a baby with us. Cot provided good standard. Breakfast was very good in morning and not too pricey if bought in advance with booking. Only lose points on having to provide confirmation that breakfast was booked due to fault with their booking system.

I was visiting the University on business. From the minute I walked in you could feel the customer service culture was very good and very natural. Every team member from reception to the team that we’re looking after the bar and restaurant. I’m sitting here writing this after my breakfast. Again a really friendly and genuine environment. I felt compelled to write this review. I managed a customer service driven environment for many years and I know the work that goes on behind the scenes to keep what you have worked hard to achieve. Well done to all. I’m glad I joined Bonvoy. I will be back 100%. Have a good day.

From the initial check in to the friendly restaurant staff this is Marriott with a twist. Not the standard menu you find in most Marriott Hotels (not that there’s anything wrong with that) but this was different. Exceptionally good food and it felt like private dining in one of the restaurant booths. A special mention must go out to Gabriel who is simply fantastic at his job.

We stayed here for two nights while visiting family for a wedding. The studio room itself was fully equipped with just about everything we needed for the stay and it was spotlessly clean… I mean spotless!!! A couple of things deterred from awarding a full 5 stars. 1: The check in is done remotely and was a little bit disjointed. The photo ID sent after booking was asked for again so had to be emailed again before passcodes we’re released. No on picks up the phone so the entire check in had to be done by SMS - although response were quite quick. 2: There was no parking available on arrival and we’d been driving for almost 6hrs so being tired, a bit stiff and hungry this news was a bit of a blow especially as the listing states there is free parking. We Sent a message to the check in team who basically said if there’s no parking well there’s no parking. We did manage to acquire a space a bit later once someone moved their car. 3: Hanley (the area of SOT where the apartments are located) feels a little bit run down, although there is a shopping centre, cinema, market and restaurants /shops to visit and everyone we encountered over the few days were all very friendly and eager to help. 4: The complimentary tea/coffee etc was not replenished during our stay (yeah we know it’s complimentary but in most places we have stayed in they are still replenished daily). Still worth another visit and would definitely book again with the knowledge of what to expect.

My other half and I stayed here when we visited Alton Towers (35 min drive away). It’s in an immensely convenient and accessible location, perfect for a quick pop in to Hanley for a meal or a drink of the evening (10 min walk). The hosts were great communicators, the self check in was really easy and the room was exactly what we needed - no thrills but clean with good facilities. The shower was good, the bed was comfy and the kitchenette was very useful. The room was very clean. The only downside was that parking was limited - we got in the first time easily but when more cars are in the car park, spaces can be very tight. Would highly recommend for anyone travelling with business or for a night out in Stoke!
