Fantastic location. Sauna is available to book for free for private use. The best thing was the massage - it was really good. The only issue was the air condition which was changed to heating during the time we visited (summer transitioning to autumn) so it was a little warm at night. Unless you took the garden facing room, the road/ trams noises will be uncomfortable to leave the windows open through the night. Having said, the staff service were good.

One Rude Staff Member Ruined an Otherwise Decent Stay I stayed at Esplanade Zagreb Hotel with high expectations given its historic prestige, but one employee’s unprofessional behavior significantly tarnished my experience. Upon arrival, I mistakenly entered the hotel’s parking area as the parking gate opened. After realizing the error, I proceeded to the lobby, completed check-in, and moved my car to the designated drop-off zone for valet service. At this point, a parking attendant aggressively confronted me—hands on hips, speaking in a condescending tone, and demanding how I’d accessed the area. His demeanor was more suited to scolding a trespasser than addressing a paying guest. To be fair, the front desk and concierge staff were perfectly polite and efficient. Had I not encountered this particular employee, my overall impression would have been positive. But for a hotel branding itself as a luxury establishment, even one hostile interaction is unacceptable. A guest’s entire perception can be undone by a single moment of poor service. The incident casts doubt on the hotel’s training standards. Why does such a disparity in staff attitudes exist? I hope management addresses this, as no amount of century-old tradition excuses rudeness. Until then, I’d hesitate to return or recommend Esplanade Zagreb without caution.

I was very satisfied with the room; I always tend to trust branded hotels. There's a fairly large supermarket nearby, which was convenient for shopping. It's also very close to the bus terminal, so I didn't have to drag my luggage far to catch a ride. When checking out, there was a heavy wind and rain, but the hotel staff kindly and quickly helped me get a taxi.

This is a nice hotel. The staff are very friendly, the place is very clean, and the location is good, close to the city center. The downside is that we could hear running water noise in the bathroom of our room from time to time, which disturbed our rest. The staff immediately changed us to another room, but unfortunately, that room also had the same noise. It's possible that both rooms were close to the drainage system.

The cleanliness was a major plus, and for us, having a bathtub was the biggest draw and best feature. The only minor issues were that the toilet flush button was a bit stiff and there was a cleaning toothbrush (or so it seemed) near the room entrance, but these were barely noticeable compared to the overall comfort.

The location is convenient, the hotel attitude is also good, maybe because the off-season also helped me upgrade the room, but one accident happened. I went out on the first day and the owner didn't help sort out the room. The next day I stayed at the hotel until noon, when the toilet was suddenly opened the door, but fortunately I stopped in time, he could not come in. Then the owner said that he came to clean the room and knocked on the door, but how can I hear it in the toilet? And the toilet has no door lock, and suddenly it is really scary to be opened! After I reflected, I may feel that I don't need to clean up the room, and I didn't clean the room after that. At the end of the day, my trash can was full and the paper towels were gone. A little troublesome. Finally stayed for 4 nights and didn't clean the room. I suggest they put our house sign at the door to tell them if we need room cleaning service so we don't have to have another accident.

I was informed by email in advance that there was a large event at the bar downstairs that day, but I didn't think it was so noisy. Rather than sound, the deep bass sound is very loud, and earplugs and noise canceling are really meaningless. I have cancer from 12:00 to 3:30 in the middle of the night. It was really painful. The hotel is located in the city center, about a 10-15 minute walk from the main square and 20 minutes from the upper town. Zagreb is great for city walks, so it doesn't feel far at all. The hotel service was very warm and friendly; the front desk was always happy to help with anything. The room facilities and breakfast were satisfactory for the price. The only drawback is that it is difficult to find. I walked around the building several times in the middle of the night and finally found the small sign at the door (Figure 1). After getting the key from the key box, I went in and there was another sign on the second glass door (Figure 2). Hotel is located conveniently, especially if traveling by car. When I arrived, while taking a shower I realized that the bath drain was clogged and had to clean it myself (as I was already soaking wet). Obviously, clearing out other people's hairs wasn't my idea of a well maintained bath in a 4-star hotel so I complained at the reception. They apologised, but it was all a bit too late. In general, the shower could use some TLC as the toiletry shelf inside the shower was not clean as well (had some mold on it). Other then that, the room was adequate, and the location of the hotel allows for a good sleep, even with windows open as it is far enough from busy streets. Breakfast was mediocre - croissants were semi-baked, almost raw inside and definitely just baked to finish from frozen (not freshly made in hotel bakery). The selection of food was meh, but it wasn't horrible.

The location is near a freight train hub, but it didn't bother us. The room was spacious and quite clean. Now they call it an 'original style' (chuckles). It's inconvenient that the sink is in the room, not in the bathroom. The room has bathrobes and slippers, but no disposable toothbrushes. There's a small electric kettle and a capsule coffee machine, but not even a single bottle of drinking water... Unexpected for a hotel that isn't exactly cheap. When booking, it wasn't mentioned anywhere that the hotel's underground parking costs 12 euros per night, which was also a surprise. Breakfasts are quite substantial, but there wasn't even simple oatmeal... The available food isn't very suitable for someone with gastritis...

JJennifer0505The hotel was really nice. There is a restaurant right inside the hotel with pizza and drinks. The staff is very nice and helps with everything. The room is cozy and comfortable.

I didn't know the PIN code to enter the hotel, but I contacted the hotel and a staff member came and I was able to enter without any problems. The hotel staff were very friendly and explained everything carefully. There was a kitchen so it seemed like I could cook, and I was told I could use the dishes freely. Coffee, tea, and sugar were also available for free. The room was cute and relaxing, and the toilet and shower were clean, which was great. I was able to stay with peace of mind!
