De Ware Jacob Boutique Hotel

We had a magnificent stay at De ware Jacob Hotel with a family of five at the end of 2020. With the Covid restrictions it was not easy to travel around, but nonetheless we decided to spend a weekend in Amsterdam benefitting from the beauty of the city with fewer tourists at this moment in time. This Hotel was recommended to us as a cosy newly renovated boutique hotel at the heart of the Museum District, and the price was really good, so we were not disappointed. Our stay was even more memorable than expected. We were received by the very friendly owner and treated with a glass of Cava. The suites and the family rooms were very nice and spacious, we also benefitted from an upgrade, which was a nice gesture. A nice sushi dinner was delivered from a nearby restaurant and we enjoyed it in the lounge with a nice restaurant ambiance. We were pleasantly shocked to be given the variety of Georgian natural wines tasting by the host, something we never tried before, accompanied by the delicious strawberry covered in chocolate. Fantastic!! Breakfast was nicely presented, had nice selection and we were also offered a glass of Prosecco to start the day, but instead decided to swap it for extra cappuccinos and a homemade cake on the house. The city itself was delightful, being not so crowded as usual. We really enjoyed walking in the nearby park. Also went to The Red Light district which was absolutely empty, something unforgettable and special!!! It was indeed a very pleasant break in beautiful Amsterdam.

In the whole hotel we enjoyed it very much. We were only one night. It appears very good.Outside it seems ordinary but inside it really is a girl.Everything reminiscent very much modern art. We had a room in the ground floor, but it had a high window that was very well illuminated inside. You have a cooker and a coffee machine in the room and this is always a good thing for us because it is a service we appreciate especially after long walks. The only fault I can't tell if it was because we were at -1 is that at some point of the night the bathroom smells also importantly discharged. The morning is gradually disappearing because we haven't heard anything at the day when we arrived. The location is not just in the center even if you get 30 minutes walking or you have the tram that is quick. It was a good point for us, however.

They do not deserve the TripAdvisor award. The location of the hotel isn’t bad BUT it isn’t great either. It’s quite a distance from everything even though public transport is convenient - there’s a bit of walking to do. Nothing to eat around here after 9pm and you need to order deliveroo but the options there are limited too. Service: First, the room had NO air conditioning. It was stuffy and had no ventilation. Told them 3 times and they just left a note saying that they have taken note of this? Bonvoy service? I’ve travelled so much pre Covid - I think the service standards shouldn’t have changed this much? We had one lady Andre (from Barcelona) who was very helpful but the manager and the other front desk people weren’t any help at all let alone service. Second, the room was so so. There aren’t much amenities- just soup and shampoo. No toothbrush etc. Towels are small. Third, breakfast- every day’s breakfast was exactly the same maybe except one dish. I get elemen isn’t the higher grade Marriott group hotels BUT for all other Bonvoy members out there- just stay at the main Marriott or another hotel group.

Second stay at this hotel, this time 4 nights on holiday. The hotel is located at a commercial, but pleasant area, with good public transportation options. We preferred it to the chaos of central Amsterdam, including a fair share of dubious characters we saw there on sightseeing. We were welcomed in a courteous and pleasant manner (thank you Tim for this, and for good tips regarding transportation)., and service was good throughout our stay. The common areas and the room were pleasant and clean. The bed was good, the bathroom large and well-maintained. Breakfast was a continental fare with no extras, but good quality ingredients, both beverages and food. Few comments regarding things we liked less: 1. Water pressure in our room (highest floor, # 11) was too weak for an adequate shower. Uncertain how it is on lower floors, but this was frustrating. 2. Room service needs improvement. We ordered burgers, to be prepared medium, and received charred, over-well-done meat, with charred buns too. 3. We were happy to learn there was jazz music in the bar on Thursday. Alas, these were two fairly quiet guitars, drowned in a sea of yelling and laughing guests, People's behavior is by no means something the hotel can or should control. Nevertheless, should the music be audible, it may be better to bring a singer with a piano and a set of drums. Overall a pleasant stay at a good hotel.

We (mother-in-law and daughter-in law) chose this hotel (in quiet area) having read recent reviews. Plus, it was within walkable distance to the Museum Quarter (20+ mins). Extremely happy with the 'Delux Twin Room' booked direct with the hotel. Comfortable single beds. Spotless bedroom (good size) and bathroom. Electronic touch pad beside bed to select lighting + open/shut curtains etc. Smart Coffee making facilities, small fridge, safe, luggage rack, scales, ironing facilities, hair dryer. Self Service Breakfast with large choice of cold and hot meals (overseen by competent staff). Comfortable small bar area to relax in the evening. All Staff polite and helpful throughout our stay. We, without doubt will return to this hotel which we highly recommend. It is in a quiet area with lots of nice eateries within walkable distance. Likewise the tram stop (No 2) to take you into the Centre of Amsterdam - This tram stop is a short walk from the hotel (10 minutes). Near to the hotel is an entrance to the Park. Thank you Park Plaza Vondelpark. The taxi fare to and from the Airport is approximately 60 Euro each way. This recommended.

The room is really small, but although the sparrow is small, it has all internal organs and modern facilities, but it is really small, and the suitcase must be opened and closed to walk properly
