Good location to city center. Keep in mind no lift we walked 3 flights of stairs each time 50 plus stairs. Breakfast included. A continental type. No room cleaning or towel exchange. No free water must purchase. Staff friendly and accommodating. Bed comfy. Guest rooms are tired and worn. Need new carpet and bed frames all peeled. Very basic room small tv

I had a great stay at the Amsterdam Wiechmann! It's an adorable little hotel located on one of the many canals in the city as well as close to the tram, shopping and restaurants. They warn you upon making a reservation - the stairs are narrow and steep - there is no elevator. Those with balance or ambulatory issues should evaluate their willingness to climb up and down and also calculate the weight of their suitcases. The view in the breakfast dining room is iconic and you can literally watch the world go by and plan your day in a relaxing way with coffee and a light breakfast. The lobby areas are quaintly decorated. The single room I stayed in was basic - all I needed when I was out sight seeing and visiting friends during the day. It would have been nice to. have a fridge or coffee maker in the room - but coffee/tea was available all day and night in the lobby. I really liked this spot!

It is hard to imagine a better location in Amsterdam than the junction of the Prinsengracht and Looiersgracht canals. Book a room with a canal view, and you will be enthralled. The area has a host of small, independent shops, galleries, restaurants, and bars and is a beautiful twenty minute stroll from Museumstraat. The hotel comprises three traditional canal houses with furnishings sympathetic to the age of the properties. Canal houses have quite steep stairs, so if negotiating these presents difficulties, then sadly, it's not for you. (A lift would be completely out of place in this hotel). Staff are very friendly and helpful and the free buffet breakfast is more than enough to set you on your way. Coffee and a variety of teas are available free in the sociable ground floor lounge where you can sit and watch the world go by.

This hotel gave us an authentic Amsterdam experience. Yes there are glitzier hotels but this is what we were looking for. The staff was great and special kudos to Wendy who was wonderful- cheery, helpful with restaurant recommendations and logistics. Breakfast was OK, not outstanding but again authentic. The neighborhood was fantastic- convenient to many sites and restaurants. Quiet at night and safe. Please keep in mind that there are no elevators and stairs are somewhat steep- but the exercise will help burn off all those calories.

My partner and I stayed at the Hotel Wiechmann for 3 nights in February, I booked it as the location, area and style of the property were exactly what I had in mind for our trip. We paid a little extra to have a double room overlooking the canal and it did not disappoint, we had massive windows and doors allowing a clear view of the canal and bridge. It was great to sit there watching the world go by. There is a lot said about the stairs and yes, they are steep, but they add to the charm of the place. Breakfast was a typical continental style affair with fresh bread rolls, ham, cheese, hard boiled eggs, toast, croissant’s, fruit juice & coffee…well that’s what I had anyway! There is a hot drinks machine available free of charge near reception, there is no kettle in the rooms. We arrived by train and then tube to Rokin station and walked for 13 minutes to the hotel, however when leaving to return home we had the hotel call a taxi and that dropped us at the airport for 45 euro’s. We walked to all the attractions from our hotel base, Anne Frank, Heineken Tour, Canal boat trip, WWII resistance museum and the House boat museum (just 50m away). We ate at Billy Thai’s restaurant a couple of times as it is only a 5 minute walk away and the food there is great. Highly recommend this hotel if you want to stay somewhere with character and history.

Interesting hotel, not 5 stars by any means but comfortable and we had good service and a good breakfast selection. Room was spacious , clean but dont expect lavish furnishings. chairs were quite old and probably could be replaced. The stairs were challenging but we managed, do not book if you have knee or mobility issues. On the plus side we found it to be in a very good location on the canals.

The Weichmann is a good hotel and mostly advertises what you get. We booked a Canal View and yes we did get it, just. If you stood on your toes and peaked out the window you would get a glance. No false advertising, but just not what you expect when you see the photos. Then again, you are in Amsterdam to be out an about, not looking through a hotel room window. The room was on the top floor and a tough climb with suitcases (as stated on the website), so if you have strength or mobility issues, definitely book a ground or lower floor room. The room itself was okay, but noisy at night from the “partying” people below, so no sleeping with the windows open. No AC, but the fan in the room helps. Staff were helpful and friendly, and the Continental breakfast was pretty good. Location was good and a walk to anywhere of interest is quite easy. We were there mid-June 2023 and booked direct and paid 170 Euro per night including taxes (excluding local tax), breakfast and wifi.

We picked this hotel primarily for its location/ proximity to the canals but also because it is comprises of a number of buildings joined together, which are of great character. The room we selected was on the top floor, as it has canal views and was the most spacious. We were warned about the steepness of the staircase (no elevator in this hotel) and this has been mentioned in other reviews but it is seriously steep and getting the luggage up to the room can be quite a feat. That said, our stay was very pleasant and as mentioned, the front door literally went directly out to a canal and bridge over. The breakfast was typically continental but fresh and adequate to start the day.

Yes the stairs are an 'issue' but we were well warned. Location, location is excellent, the rooms themselves are very good, the staff very friendly & helpful & the breakfast also is very good. Would definitely stay here again.
