Popped in for a drink late Friday afternoon , used to be gem of a place , beer garden looks like it needs a bit of a tidy up considering a very good draw with river running through , grass overgrown , tables covered with seeds from trees , not that appealing , didn’t choose to eat , seems to have gone downhill compared to what it used to be , a nice country pub

We visited for Sunday lunch in April. To start off with, we waited a few minutes by the bar before anyone acknowledged us, despite two members of staff walking past us. The food was so poor. We ordered white bait and soup to start. There were only 5 very tiny white bait in the bowl, it looked like they had been half eaten, and not crispy, we actually couldn’t quite believe it had even been served to us like this. The soup was flavourless. The roast was fine, nothing special, however the cauliflower cheese was an extra £5 side, not included, unlike all other pubs in the area, and if it was a delicious cauliflower cheese we certainly wouldn’t mind but it was bland with very little cheese. The burger was over cooked and charred black all over, and tasted more burnt than burger. The cheese on top of the burger was a flat square of yellow ‘cheap’ cheese you can pick up in the super market 10 slices for £1. Really poor. We ordered a side salad, which was just romaine lettuce, no sauce and nothing else, and charged £5 for the privilege. So poor. Such a shame as this pub used to serve great food!

We were a large party of 21 people all coming from different areas for a family party. Unfortunately due to traffic we were over an hour late. The staff were amazing dispute this being hard for their kitchen staff. Nothing was too much for them the food and cocktails were amazing, rooms are cozy and comfortable with lovely finishing touches, and breakfast was 10/10 nothing was too much for the friendly staff so helpful. Lovely cozy county pub. No complaints!! Thank you

Had the pleasure of spending the day , and staying the night before and after at The Bourne Valley Inn on Friday 1st February at our daughter and son in laws wedding . A very special day where nothing was too much trouble for Tammy and her team. Thoroughly enjoyed by everyone who joined us . Had a lovely sit down 3 course wedding breakfast and evening buffet . The rooms were comfortable , clean and warm throughout.

Fantastic meal and lovely service. Wow what a find this pub is, from the moment you walk in to the pub you are made to feel very welcome. We were greeted by a lovely lady called Chelsea, who was very friendly. The menu is lovely there is so much to choose from. The food and drinks came out very quick. Hats of to the chef the food was amazing. We will definitely be coming back

Great stay for my husband and I. Piers (sorry if we have spelt this wrong) was such a lovely member of staff who really looked after us and nothing was too much hassle. Always had a smile on his face. A lovely friendly and cosy atmosphere and great food! We will be back and thank you. Jessica

Arriving after a long journey and having just finished our evening meal was not expecting the bar to close at 9.30 pm.

When the photos encourage you to stay, but in reality it's totally different. We stayed for two nights and was concerned when we realised the room we stayed in (Rm4) was above the kitchen, but we were assured the kitchen closed at 9pm and the extractor would be switched off by 10pm; it was.... Well on the first night! The second night the extractor was left on and no sleep could be had. We enquired at breakfast if anybody was around at night if there were any issues, and were surprised to hear that nobody was overnight. Thankfully there were no emergencies.... Also not sure how you would get in if you went out for the evening and came back after the staff had left for the evening as you only get given your room key. The room appeared nice on entering, with a vintage type bulb giving a nice warming glow. Only once you're settled in do you realise there is no decent light, and you're depending on one single Anglepoise light. You have to make tea/coffee in the dark. There are also no mirrors in the bedroom, so when you are drying hair you have to use a plug outside the bathroom and go into the bathroom to use the mirror in there.... Not the safest! The bathroom has one bulb not working and the mirror light on the wall didn't work, so another dark room. The bathroom only had an extractor so was damp, with paint flaking in the shower. Breakfast was ok, but nothing to shout about. The service was ok, but staff disappeared as soon as you were served and couldn't be seen again unless you went hunting. It was probably a really nice place to stay in it's day, but that day has well and truly gone. Needs work now.
