We enjoyed our stay, the location of our room was good. The only few ******* that we had, was that although the room was clean, it smelt a little bit smokey, it was too hot, we tried turning the radiator down a little but it wouldn't stay down, we did open the window, and the pillows were too hard for me. But for the 1 night we stayed it was ok.

More like a club 18-30 experience. The hotel was fantastic, food excellent and staff went way, way beyond. However, the main function of a hotel is to have somewhere to sleep. The hotel had two weddings on the night of my stay and between 12:45 and 14:30 I was unable to sleep for the screaming, laughing, partying that was going on throughout the corridors. I never heard any staff trying to resolve the situation, just plenty of noise. I had to pay £20 surcharge for my dogs to stay and they were not allowed In the restaurant - which is very reasonable, but have to say that they were better behaved that the other animals who were not required to pay any surcharge or not required to follow any basic behavioural rules. On checkout, I was not even asked if I had a pleasant stay. I assume the staff did not want confirmation of their mismanagement. If this is the sort of establishment used but Trip.com, then I can only say first impressions go a long way and I will stick to other hotel brokers in future.

Lovely hotel just a little busy with weddings at the moment. Went in for breakfast on Sunday morning no orange juice, only one slice of brown bread. Ordered our breakfast and after 45 mins told there was no eggs - gave up at that point. That said location was perfect for North East attractions (had a great day in Beamish). Our bedroom was large and comfy. Excellent food on Friday and Saturday evening - just let down by the breakfast!.

Went today 12th May for lunch , very disappointed no-one to show you to your table just it’s in there, waited a long time for someone to take order eventually had to ask. Food arrived nobody asked if it was alright or otherwise. As this was a trial run for a much larger party I was sad to see that it wasn’t going to be suitable mainly because of the lack of anything to make us want to return.☹️☹️

This our third visit and will not be the last The hotel is of a high standard with beautiful rooms and bathrooms and set in lovely grounds. The staff are kindness itself. Their helpfulness and friendliness are second to non. Special mentions to Kate, Sam, Abbie and Zoe and our hero Ollie who helped us when we were struggling with my 89 year old husband’s wheelchair. He left his lawn mowing and came to our assistance twice. Exemplary.

Relaxing, peaceful, quality Sunday lunch. Lovely staff and piano tinkling away. Very good value for money in beautiful surroundings. Parking a bit difficult, needs more disabled spaces as getting round from the back is impossible. Every other aspect spot on - would recommend.

Beautiful hotel set in beautiful grounds. You must try the steak in garlic butter.....amazing. Huge bath and huge bed. Heaven. Staff were very helpful and chatty. Would highly recommend for a night away or just a meal as the steak nights are excellent value for money.
