Buckland Manor - A Relais & Chateaux Hotel Reviews

Upgraded to a family room but could not find the corresponding room type

We had incredible stay at this beautiful hotel. The food in their restaurant was so delicious and service was top notch. Our room was luxurious and unique. Highly recommend.

It could have been a fantastic two-night break, but on the second night, after dinner and before going out for drinks, we encountered a horrendous smell in our room that turned our stomachs. The staff came up to witness the smell and immediately offered us another room (fortunately, they had one available). We then had to pack up all our belongings, move to the other room, and unpack. By the time we finished, it was late, and we decided to call it a night instead of going for drinks as planned. This ruined what could have been a great evening. Upon checking out the next morning, we spoke with the General Manager, Marcellin Hardouin, who only offered a £50 discount on our final bill. Disappointing, especially for a Relais & Châteaux hotel.

Unbelievable one night stay at Buckland Manor. Beautiful old building with a classic interior. Excellent service. Excellent food. Thank you Sarah and Claire for making our stay so special. Would definitely come back soon. 10/10. Perfect location in the Cotswolds. Close to many of the best villages.

We stayed for just two nights. Everything from our reception on arrival, an excellent dinner and table-service at breakfast was handled with exacting attention to detail. Highly recommended.

We visited for Sunday lunch and were not disappointed. The service we received was outstanding - we were warmly greeted at the front door, shown to a lovely spot in the garden and immediately shown both the drinks and food menus. We were brought some crisps and olives whilst we waited for the complimentary canapés and when it was time for lunch our drinks were carried into the dining room. Service continued to be both attentive and unobtrusive and the tables were well spaced. Lunch was very good and beautifully presented. All in all, a first class experience in this beautiful and immaculate spot of rural Gloucestershire.

I knew Buckland Manor was going to be special, but it even exceeded that. With only something like 15 rooms, each guest is special. It is one of the few manors-made-into-hotels that still retain a lot of the original interiors and even furniture. One armoire in our room dated from 1730-something. The bath was perfect, with a separate tub and shower. What was really special about Buckland was the meal service. The breakfast was even better than we had at the 5* Hotel Stafford in London. Before dinner, you are brought cocktails and hors d'oerves in one of the parlors, then the wine list and menu. You order dinner while you are enjoying your cocktail and go to the dining room whenever you wish. No dinner check to review or sign, no tip to worry over, just go to your suite when you are done. The food was expertly prepared. The gardens are fabulous and the old church immediately next door make a perfect setting. The town of Buckland is totally non-touristy, with only about 100 inhabitants. I've stayed in a number of 4-5* hotels in our wordily travels, and none were as unique as Buckland Manor. Treat yourself.

Room was excellent, restaurant also excellent and the service was first class. For an overnight stay in the Cotswolds it is really good.

Beautiful English Country Hotel with fabulous gardens and super food. This was a birthday treat for me and the staff and the hotel were absolutely fabulous. I cannot fault the location, the quality of the food, wine and the surroundings- it is truly beautiful

If you want a lovely, comfortable and unique Cotswold hotel experience, then Buckland Manor is the place to go. Nothing is too much trouble for the attentive staff. My room was delightful and comfortable. The cuisine is excellent and the restaurant service good. Perhaps a slightly expanded menu would be welcome.

Old world luxury. Beautiful gardens and wonderful surroundings. The bedroom we had was beautifully appointed and very comfortable. Will come again when we visit the UK next year.

Lovely food and first class experience. Beautiful gardens and peaceful location. 3 course lunch plus olives, canapés, coffee and chocolates. Highly recommended for a fabulous traditional Sunday lunch in luxurious surroundings. Well worth the extra cost

Beautiful hotel set in the heart of the Cotswolds. The staff were excellent, welcoming warm and extremely helpful. Wonderful food and fabulous room with loads of comfort and facilities. The Manor is close to the area of Broadway with nice attractions shops, and places of interest.

Family feeling, cozy rooms, clean, warm, delicious food & friendly stuff. The place is stunning and we will come back. There is nothing I would change about tje place. If you have doubts, do not have them and book your gateway.
