There are mainly Hungarian-style restaurants around, goose legs, and foie gras. There are several restaurants around with good ratings. There are many bars. It is convenient to go to nearby attractions, walk there, and the hotel is clean.

The welcome and the location of this hotel met our expectations. On the other hand, a cruel lack of insulation, particularly soundproofing, made it impossible to rest... The walls are very thin, you can hear a lot the noise of doors slamming and people chatting when you are in the room. That's a shame.

I checked in on the evening of Monday 30.10.23, and in addition to the £321.48 I paid via *******, I also paid the additional City Tax of £12.90. I was then upsold a room upgrade for €40 on the promise that it was a far superior room that was also in a quiet area of the hotel. I was awoken at 06:30 by the lift (which our room was located next to), specifically the very loud lift music. This was something I was intending to raise with the front desk, but as it turns out, I never got the chance. As I was awake, I attempted to have a shower, but this unfortunately didn’t work. Another issue I was going to raise. At 09:30 I was called from reception to say that the hotel was being evacuated, and to come down no later than 11:00. After packing our belongings we went to reception for 10:30. At this point, we were told to leave the hotel and come back at 11:00. Reception weren’t 100% sure whether we would be allowed to continue our stay or not. I complied and returned, only to be informed that we wouldn’t be able to stay for the rest of our booking. We were told to wait for further news. We had plans for the day, but unfortunately they were postponed and we effectively were losing a day of our holiday. At 13:30 we were told that a taxi was taking us to Estilo Fashion Hotel. Having looked at the hotel, location etc, I explained that I wasn’t happy. We chose ARCadia due to its location, room size, facilities etc. Estilo was far away from our chosen location, and with our 4 year old daughter with us, she would struggle to walk. As a result, we would be left with the expense of public transport. Another issue was the very small rooms, not ideal for three people. Another factor was the lack of a bath, only a shower. My daughter refuses to use a shower, she’s frightened of them. A big selling point of the ARCadia was the large children’s bed and the bath for my daughter. I asked reception whether we could be moved to another hotel instead, but they refused. At this point I requested a refund. My preference was now to be refunded my money and book another hotel of my choosing. Again, reception refused. They said my only option was to contact *******. With our taxi waiting outside, and nowhere else to go, we were transferred to Estilo. Upon entering the room we could see it wasn’t suitable and we contacted ******* via Live Chat to request a refund so that we could book another hotel. The ******* agent told me that ARCadia were responsible for authorising the refund, and that she would need to speak to them - completely contradicting what the reception staff had told me. It turned out that ******* were unable to contact ARCadia after several days so a refund wouldn’t be possible. I have personally attempted to contact ARCadia since the event to request a refund, but have been unable to speak to anyone. I toyed with the idea of booking another hotel and leaving Estilo, but with no guarantees that I would receive my refund, I couldn’t risk potentially paying
Response from Property: Dear Mr Jay L. Thank you very much for taking your valuable time to send us your feedback! We truly regret that we had to close ARCadia Hotel Budapest due to a serious technical error, but we really tried to do our best to find suitable accommodation for all of our guests who were staying in our hotel at that time. Please accept our sincere apologies for the inconveniences caused to you and jkindly ask you to contact our Sales Department about your claim for a possible refund. Yours sincerely, Roberta Hollósi - Guest Relations Manager

one of the worst places we have slept in. Everything was old and dirty and smelly and noisy. we were severely mislead by the pictures presented while booking. Extremely expensive for what they offered. we payed 440 euro for 2 rooms 2 nights and left with a bad experience, and a sore back. Nothing to do with other 4 stars hotels we visited. this should be much much lower.
Response from Property: Dear Guests, Thank you for taking your valuable time to review your stay with us. The comfort of our guests is extremely important to us, so we were very sorry to read your complaint. We wish you would have shared your dissatisfaction with us during your stay so we could have found an appropriate solution to your concerns. In problematic cases - even if it’s unjustified -, we recommend room change for the guests (upon availability), so they can have a flawless stay and a relaxing holiday for the rest of their stay. Please accept our sincere apologies for the inconveniences caused to you! Please note that we are working extraordinarily hard to be able to make the necessary improvements and to maintain the high standard of the hotel and hopefully we can offer you an improved experience in the future. With much appreciation, Roberta Hollósi - Guest Relations Manager

I stayed at the Arcadia hotel for 3 nights and definitely feel it has its pros and cons. In terms of pros, the location in terms of site seeing and facilities is superb. We walked to all the sight seeing spots and felt the location of the hotel was very central for what we wanted to see. Upon arrival, the lady on reception was very friendly and helpful. This was the only member of staff who we felt was friendly and helpful. In terms of cons, unfortunately we thought there was a few. Our biggest issue was the outside noise. If you are a light sleeper then this hotel isn’t for you. We was in room 007 which is located right above the restaurants outside. As soon as it hits 7pm, all you can hear is the outside noise and hustle and bustle of the street up until 2am/3am. We could even hear people’s full conversations from people who were standing on the street directly below us. We then was woken up at 7am due to what sounded like bin trucks going down the road in the morning. I appreciate that this cannot be helped and you are going to hear a little noise, however this was ridiculous. I’d suggest thicker windows or something to block/reduce some of the noise. Having read other reviews, this seems to be an issue on all floors. Not only can you hear the outside noise, if people use the lift and come into the corridor inside the hotel, you can hear all of this too. Noise seems to echo. Another issue we felt was the shower. The shower head was coming off the wall. It felt very flimsy and if it was going to come away from the wall. The shower head wouldn’t stay still so would constantly end up pointing towards the left meaning the floor would get covered in water and you’d have to move it back so it was pointing into the bath tub, this didn’t help the fact it was very flimsy. Lastly, we paid for a superior double room. The room was spacious however, the bed was 2 single beds pushed together with a sheet over the top. We didn’t mind this, the beds were comfy so this wasn’t an issue. However, it wasn’t one double duvet cover, it was 2 single (I’d go further and say small single duvet covers) which isn’t ideal. Why not just have one double duvet? Overall, I’d give this hotel a 2 star. The location is central and ideal for sightseeing however, we felt there was just one too many faults.

Hotel was closed was not informed beforehand even though it had been shut more than a month ago still allowing you to book, we then spent a whole day sorting out a new hotel to stay in, if you book here you are loosing a days holiday and gaining a lot of stress, book anywhere else, it is in a good location so try to find somewhere close

Fraud! Do not book at this hotel. We had a fully paid reservation for December booked in October. A couple of weeks ago we received and an email saying that the reservation has been cancelled with no further details on the refund. Since then various attempts to contact them have been ignored. STAY AWAY!!!!!!!!

Room booking charged but after few weeks, cancelled. Looks like we are not going to receive any refund. I tried all the emails found on the hotel´s website and no one answer. Be careful with this hotel. Scam!

Great location in the Jewish quarter in the heart of Pest. Within really easy reach of all public transport and bus to airport. The rooms are basic but clean with tea and coffees making facilities and a mini bar. Staff were extremely pleasant and helpful. Also gave great information about Budapest snd the sights to see. Lots of bar and cafes nearby. A little noisy at times outside but would expect that in a central location. Would definitely recommend this hotel for a city break.

We have received a cancellation from the hotel on our booking, 5 days stay June 2024. From the reviews below, it seems that the hotel is closed now, and we wonder if it is still closed in June next year? Why so long time?

Our reservation has been cancelled a week ago. Ever since I tried to call, email with no response. No payment has been sent to us and we had to find another hotel last minute which of course resulted to be more expensive. We need to know when we will get our money back!!!

DO NOT USE. We had booked and fully paid for a 4 night stay from 6th Nov -10th Nov. When we arrived in the early hours , the hotel was closed with a note on the door to inform guests arriving that the Hotel was closed and had ceased trading. The two staff behind the reception desk were unhelpful, not forthcoming and at times hostile when we questioned why the hotel was closed. If they do re-open in the future, I would not recommend given both the lack of prior communication to our arrival and the complete lack of customer service when we did arrive.

Two things are OK/great regarding this hotel. First is location, second one is breakfast. Everything else is not on the level that 4-star hotel should have. The room was not clean: - hair in the bathroom - fingerprints on the windows - filthy pillows. - damaged inventory - in the hallway towards my room, one room's doors looked as if someone had tried to break in Additionally, I have booked two rooms one month before arrival, and the hotel gave us rooms in separate wings of the hotel, one room on the first floor, and the second one on the fifth. We booked two rooms (two adults + 1 child) and in both rooms, there were only 2 pillows, 2 sets of towels, etc, and two glasses...everything like there were only 2 persons in the room so we needed to request additional pillows and a set of towels. I would not recommend this hotel. You can find better hotels in the center of Budapest for similar price.

Brilliant location and very central. Really friendly and helpful staff. My room was clean , and had everything I needed. I would return to Arcadia if I ever go back to Budapest. I was on my own and felt very safe.
