Burley Manor

Set in such a beautiful tranquil place in the New Forest, Burley Manor exceeded our expectations! Its picturesque front garden with deers running free, to its amazing front entrance of a stunning log burning fire enriched with a beautiful aroma in the air, topped off with a very warm cosy feeling. Could it get any better?... to then be greeted on the front desk by a kind, smiley, happy and funny lady by the name of Marylyn just made us feel at home right away. Once to our room, where its location was just perfect and easy access we entered into a very cosy bright place. The bathroom was gorgeous, its shower was grand and so relaxing and the big sink such a nice touch. Not a bad thing to say about the room... apart from we found it difficult getting out of bed in the morning as it was too comfy as we sleep so well 😀. Burley Manors breakfast, lunch and dinner was all just amazing. Huge thank you to the chefs and kitchen staff for the brilliant food. Lastly the staff were all so lovely and friendly! Keep up the amazing work. We will definitely be back. Thank you so much

We arrived on Saturday it looked really good from the outside....booked in got taken to room looked nice ....unfortunately there was no hot water on Sunday morning when said to reception she said it kept tripping out it ruined our stay ...it was a surprise for my wife for her birthday...it ruined the whole day

Such a welcoming hotel! The room was lovely bed was comfortable, the views are gorgeous & the staff are lovely. Breakfast was so lovely & love the way it was set up

We had such a lovely family lunch at Burley Manor for our Daughter-in-Laws birthday. The staff where just so wonderful and helpful. Ruby went above and beyond for us, along with Alex the Chef. What can we say but THANK YOU, THANK YOU once again to Ruby and Alex for such kindness and making us feel so very special. Ruby and Alex you are definitely an asset to Burley Manor.

My new bride and I got married here at the end of March 2024. It was the best day of our lives. We will split the review in two. Wedding and event review The venue was perfect. We were incredibly fortunate with the weather meaning we could make full use of the venue, however thanks to Simon (the master of ceremonies at the venue) we had bad weather plans in place also. Simon was sensational and is almost entirely the reason everything on the day went to plan. Simon was capable and independent and so he was able to take stresses away from my new wife and I by doing little things like accepting vendors into the venue and helping them setup to more complex things like mediating our families and buying us windows throughout the day to spend time together. Simon was incredibly kind and was able to answer our every call. Truly we cannot thank him enough. Following the ceremony, we had photos being taken. Aidan from the team was bringing around canapés for our guests but made sure to bring fresh trays round to us so that we could enjoy some of the food also. The food at the reception was incredible. The meals we had at the wedding breakfast made it easy to see why the venue has won the awards that it has. Throughout the reception and into the night, the events staff were amazing with special shoutouts being needed for Simon, Aidan and Alex who made sure that we were all looked after, kept us topped up on drinks and were good at interacting and socialising with everyone on the day. In short, nearly every guest we have spoken to has said it was one of the best weddings they ever attended, and my new wife and I look back and realise how lucky we were to be supported by such a great team. Wider Hotel The wider hotel was in immaculate conditions also. All rooms that our wedding party stayed in were clean, bright and well looked after. A great number of people had the room service breakfast and this was delivered with a smile and great food every time. It is worth noting that there were some delays on the room service but given that there was a massive amount of wedding guests ordering this all for the same time window, this is to be expected on this one occasion and should not be an issue for other people. All the staff were friendly and always able to make time to accommodate us. The water pressure on the showers was also particularly good. It is worth noting that some members of the wedding group booked rooms outside of the wedding block. These individuals all received emails to say that there was a wedding on during their stay and how this could affect them. We thought this was very considerate. Despite having a DJ playing music till late in the night, the music could not be heard in the main hotel and only could be heard upon entering the separate wedding venue area. All in all, we could not have been happier that we chose Burley Manor for our special day and we cannot wait to return for weekend stays and our anniversaries going forward.

Attended a wedding plus reception and overnight stay mid week in March. Great location, friendly, attentive staff, good food and value for money. Comforatable room and great scenery both at hotel and surrounding area.

We really enjoyed our time at the hotel. The meals were fantastic and the room was excellent and very quiet. I would recommend this hotel thoroughly to anyone looking for a quiet and relaxing stay in a great hotel

Appalling service and worse, inability to acknowledge failures. No mobile phone network, no information on whether charges levied for use of phone in room,no response over 36 hours to repeated requests for different pillows and repeated requests for health and safety measures to be taken (bathroom floor was dangerously slippery). Unacceptable failure, on third day, to service our room at all, and it was found not cleaned on return even after special personal request to chamber maids, Also, car park full for paying guests because of wedding, prioritised over guests paying full amount. Decided against ever booking this hotel again after over 15 years of visiting and overlooking similar failures of service. Setting of deer park fabulous but this view of deer park exploited by owners of hotel for years as excuse to provide inferior service and fittings. Wardrobes and bedroom furniture dreadfully clumsy and dated; upholstery run down. Supposedly an equestrian centre run from the manor but that ended a decade ago. Hiding behind 'history ' of 'Manor House' to offer an over-priced, run-down, feeble imitation of an elegant experience. Reviewed on Sat, 16 March 2024

We came to visit relatives in the area and Burley Manor was the closest hotel to them. We booked a room but must admit to some concern having read previous reviews! On arrival at the hotel, we were delighted to find candles burning in the foyer (not the plastic battery ones I might add). We entered reception to find a crackling log fire and scented candles creating a welcoming atmosphere. The receptionist was pleasant and friendly and quickly sorted the one request we had later on in the day. The room was beautiful. We had booked the Burley Suite with twin beds. An effort had been made to make the room welcoming on arrival with jazz music playing quietly on the radio and soft lights already on. Everything by way of in-room coffee/tea/biscuits were well presented and ample. The room was also lovely and clean. It had a balcony and seats where one could sit in nice weather. Down for dinner in the evening. As it was a Sunday evening, I had been concerned that the choice of dishes would be limited and mainly circle roasts (of which I am not keen). I had rung several weeks before to ask if the normal menu would be available, which I was assured it would. To my horror on arrival, there was just the roast menu from lunch on the table but before I could express my feelings, our waitress appeared with a separate menu for me as she recalled, and had noted, my preferences from the telephone conversation some time back. The food was very enjoyable and service quick and friendly. The room was comfortable and quiet giving a surprisingly good nights sleep for someone who never manages to sleep in hotels. Breakfast – wonderful. They had everything anyone could wish for and we sat in the conservatory overlooking the deer park. The full English was also beautifully presented. Summary – I approached with some trepidation but, speak as you find, I’ll happily be back.
