Bay Village Tropical Retreat & Apartments

Came to town for the funeral of my little brother, with my 2 elderly parents. Booked for 7 nights.The place was not clean with ants and cockroaches throughout. I grew up in Cairns so always expect insects, but this was ridiculous. Bitten all night by ants in bed! Very run down, and for the price, a complete rip-off. Pictures are NOTHING like the current state of the room. Upon not extending our stay (booked another week elsewhere which was infinitely better and cheaper), I voiced my concerns about the room. It was a few days before the funeral and we were VERY busy. I was bluntly told "Oh well, you should have said something earlier." Then, when returning the keys to reception, asked why the room was in such disrepair and not reflected accurately in the pictures. I was told I needed to speak to a manager and that one would get back to me asap. I'm still waiting... Steer clear of these apartments unless you want to waste money and be uncomfortable without care or concern from the "resort".

Overall good, but a very strong paint smell in the room, there also was a bad smell coming from toilet. There was a large spider on the wall in the bathroom. The balcony was very dirty as if it has never been cleaned. But the customer desk personnel were very friendly, courteous and helpful. Next stay we will book an apartment room instead of single room. But overall it was pleasant apart from the abovementioned.

Good and affordable place to live.

The room facilities are relatively old and the lights are dim. Slippers and toothbrushes are not provided. Shower gel and shampoo are of poor quality. The room was on the first floor and there was noise. It should be the sound of the air conditioner engine or other machinery. The breakfast is simple and does not provide the delicacies of various countries. It only has bread, fruits and some drinks. A separate deposit of 50 AUD is required upon check-in, or 100 AUD in cash.

3 nights sleep at this hotel was super comfy and very convenient. Thank you to the friendly staff ❤️

Hotel was amazing and in a great location! Everything was very neat and tidy and the staff were very helpful!
