Sentido Galosol Reviews

This was our second time staying at Sentido Hotels in Madeira. The first time we stayed at Sentido Galomar and now at Galosol which was equally amazing! The properties are very close by actually with a great location in Caniço, just a few minutes away from the main road which is super convenient to explore all the main spots around the island. The team was always very kind and helpful with anything we might need during our stay and we really enjoyed the stunning views from our room on the second floor facing the ocean with the “desertas islands” in the distance! The pool area is beautiful and they have a lot of lounge chairs to chill 😊 We will definitely keep returning to Madeira and we hope to stay at Sentido Hotels again in the future!

I really really enjoyed my stay. Hotel was clean and quiet and served my needs perfectly. Hotel staff was able to arrange for a rental car for me when I arrived to the hotel. Free parking was very limited but, I was always able to find paid street parking not far from the hotel. So not really a big deal. The hotel staff are superb. A special acknowledgement to Barbara Gomez who is so kind, professional, always had a smile on her face and offered great suggestions for things to do in Madeira during my stay. My only “complaint” which is minor is the temperature of the hot water in my room . I like the option of very hot water when it comes to bathing/showering. The water in my room was barely lukewarm. Outside of this minor issue, I would most certainly would stay at this hotel again.

The staff were lovely and super helpful. Me and my partner used the pool, spa and fitness facilities every day and really enjoyed the sunrise yoga classes. The buffet breakfast was decent. Hiring a car is necessary as there is very little within walking distance of the hotel. But the island is only small, so you can reach most places with a short drive from the hotel.

Hotel was amazing! So many things to do and we always look forward to coming back after a very busy day. The staff, Teresa and Barbara (front of house) were amazing and very accommodating! I mean everyone in the front of house are amazing but these ladies were outstanding. Claudia (from Galo Fitness) for some reasons she was always in (not complaining at all) whenever we make a booking for the indoor pool and sauna and we love how she knows it’s us calling hahaha we love spending the rest of our evening in Capoeira bar where there is always live music and it’s next to the sea, it really is a perfect spot for downtime and just relax with a wide selection of drinks, from wines to cocktails. Will definitely be coming back to Sentido Hotels. We stayed Galosol so maybe we will try Galomar next! (ROOM 4610) ❤️

There are several unique points about this hotel. We liked a lot the Spa and the Lido at the ocean. The Spa with view onto the ocean without obstruction is a very special place to calm down. The lido with the ability to go directly into open waters was amazing for snorkeling. The variety of fish in the waters was spectecular and something I will not forget. The breakfast was great as well. We liked a lot the variety and the quality. The freshmade omelettes according to our wishes were my highlight every morning as well as the fresh waffles. The room we got in the end was great as well. Good view and the quality of the room itself was very high. The beds were very comfy and I slept very well. Overall, very clean and the hotel is in good shape. Downside for us was that the first room we got during Check-In. The room 3010 is basically in the cellar, very dark and not very nice. I did not spend 10 minutes in there before I wanted to leave. We asked for another room which the reception luckily found in the first floor and changed without any question. In the new room 4114, we felt very comfortable for our week. Thank you Sentido for a great vacation!

We enjoyed our stay at the Sentido Galosol. We liked the beautiful modern interior design. Parking wasn’t always easy although there are some parking spots for hotel guests (not enough). The rooms were equipped with everything we needed. The breakfast was good and we got a lunchbox for our early departure. The staff was very friendly. The indoor pool was nice and not too crowded. We would have loved more vegan options at the breakfast buffet (like for example some vegan spread for the bread).

This hotel is in a beautiful location and fantastic access to the ocean. The staff are all wonderful and willing to help at any given moment. The hotel is incredibly allergy friendly with the majority of their foods being labelled with allergies present. There is so much on offer (at an extra fee) including racket sports, spa and massages, diving and hiking!

The location of the hotel is great if you appreciate a sea view and don't mind to be quite far from Funchal. The pool area is also nice although it was empty in the beginning of January (cold pool water and not optimal weather for sunbathing). There are good fitness facilities although the indoor pool area is not very inviting. Be aware that you need to book everything separately and well in advance (indoor pool, saunas, fitness classes, restaurant tables, spa...). Breakfast is very good. There is something for everyone. Restaurant Atlantis was also good. Unfortunately the spa was a bit of a disappointment: expensive, not very cozy interior design and the massage I had was just petting. The masseuse also seemed to be in a hurry which didn't improve the experience. Many good things but also many details missing from a five star experience.

Great location in the waterfront. Perfect for active holidays as it offers a wide range of options to suit all tastes.

Parking - not great because of limited spaces available. End up playing musical chairs/cars. Great service from Staff at reception - Duarte Santos and breakfast staff. Commendable! Thank you. Close to airport and amenities. Require own transportation.

Our room had a ocean view and the surrounding area was beautiful and peaceful.

Used by HF Holidays for walking holiday base. One of three hotels next to each other, with good facilities - swimming pools, etc. A larger hotel than I normally use, and with buffet breakfast and evening meals, which I am not normally a fan of. In this case, the selection at both breakfast and dinner was extraordinarily good, with a huge range of items, including local specialities at dinner (plus soup, salads, shellfish, fish, meat and vegetarian options) as well as a lot of fresh fruits from Madeira and South America at both breakfast and dinner. Some dishes cooked to order. Staff invariably friendly. Rooms recently refurbished. Room service good. A quiet location about 20 mins from the airport, and about 30 - 40 mins by regular local bus to Funchal (€2.20 cash each way). Local bars nearby, as well as supermarkets and a baker.

Positives: - staff is friendly - location is nice and quiet - activities like yoga, diving, hiking trips - landscaped area around the hotel - it's actually two hotels so more facilities - sommelier is amazing. Great wine tasting. - nice to see solar panels and water saving Improvements: - a proper coffee at breakfast - breakfast smoothies always run out - a sewage smell in all the lifts and toilets - no free water offered in the room - beach towels refreshed only for a fee - blue bar only has basic snack food - masseuse at spa doesn't seem to know what they're doing. Also, a 60min massage lasted for 40min. - asked to pay upfront upon check-in - check-in staff should make it clear whether your room is ready for early check in or not. We were led to believe we can check-in 2 hours early but our room wasn't actually ready which we only found out after 20min of paperwork. Not upset about the wait, only about the bad communication and expectation management - last thing you need when you haven't slept all night.

It is not often that we are impressed with big hotels but this one is absolutely perefect. Every aspect of it and the best saunas we've been.
