Manor House Hotel, Cockermouth

Stayed for one night. The first impressions were good. Lovely, chatty lady booked us in. Bedroom needed updating to the same standard as the bathroom. We had a lovely side view of the fire escape. Had a dreadful nights sleep due to the noise from other guests arriving back in the early hours. The walls must be very thin! At one point, I thought they were in the room with us. Strange first course pre-order system. Even had to choose which sort of milk you require for breakfast. I personally don't know what I want to eat until I get there. I requested greek yoghurt and granola, there was a huge portion on our table. I only ate half. Found this to be quite wasteful. The breakfast waiting on staff wasn't very chatty, only saying that was necessary. The cooked breakfast was delicious with great produce. The good things about this hotel are the on-site parking and the cooked breakfast. Saying that I wouldn't stay here again, we would try one of the other hotels in the town.

We had a really excellent meal at this hotel with friendly service,a shame that the room was rather dated.Note, especially the out of reach, locked, single sheet toilet roll dispenser and the shower,which was a single jet,high above the bath and no shower cap provided. The room was chilly on arrival but heated up later,thankfully as the duvet was rather thin. On arrival a strange system of ordering breakfast starters resulted in us having far more on the breakfast table than we would have chosen from a buffet.If this was a cost cutting exercise,it didn't work! It wouldn't take much to elevate the accommodation to the same standard as the excellent food.

So comfy quiet and cosy, parking is great and food is amazing very in keeping with the age of the building so don't expect modern interior. This was my 2nd stay and will definitely visit again. Best breakfast ever

Really friendly staff throughout our stay and nothing was too much trouble. The hotel is warm, cosy and comfortable with great parking facilities and is convenient for the shops in the town centre. Breakfast was of a very high standard, plenty to eat and delicious. We also booked an evening meal which was the highlight of our stay - we thoroughly recommend the dining experience. Many thanks to Cain, who looked after us in the bar and all the staff who were all very hard working, but extremely pleasant throughout. Wishing all at the Manor House a very Merry Christmas and we look forward to staying with you again in 2024.

An absolute delight! We live on the Fylde and are surrounded by highly rated restaurants and hotels. However, most of us would give our eye teeth to have this hotel on our patch The building is impressive, the bar areas welcoming. The restaurant area is clean and functional if unspectcualr. The rooms neat, tidy and clean. But there are two great assets: 1: The food: unbelievingly cheap but of staggering quality. Everything beautifully cooked, good portions and well presented, The selction was great and the desserts worthy of a Michelein star offering 2: the staff : hard working, friendly and efficient Only surprise was our ability to get in teh restaurant : I doubt very much whether there are amany places in cockermouth which offer the quality and value for money of Manor House

Another excellent visit to this hotel; from the warm welcome, the superb food, the cleanliness of the room and the friendliness of the staff, our holiday was much enjoyed. Thank you to everyone who made our stay so pleasant. We are looking forward to our next visit already.

Old Georgian building traditionally furnished to a 3 star standard. Spotlessly clean rooms including bedding and towels.Food presented well and good quality. Staff exceptionally pleasant, eager to please and professional.

We ate here with family & friends for a family member's big birthday celebrations . The owner and staff could not have been kinder from the moment it was booked until the night itself. Nothing was too much trouble. We had an amazing meal , everything was cooked perfectly....there were 25 of us !....and the service was lovely. The young gentleman in the bar was really good at his job & very pleasant too. We all had a fabulous night so thank you to all at Manor House Hotel for a memorable evening.

A friendly welcome. We were aware there was no lift and, as we were on the first floor, the fellow checking us in took our suitcases up the beautiful staircase for us. Our twin room was a bit dated but so are we, and it was clean and comfy. Bedding and towels were good. We had booked this as the cheapest place we could find in Cockermouth and it was very good value. There were good choices for breakfast. I eat gluten free and the bread baked by the chef was the best I’ve ever tasted! Anywhere! The granola was also top quality. The staff were helpful and friendly throughout our two night stay. I would definitely stay there again if visiting Cockermouth.
